my plan was to keep gold for the first year to get the bonus, and then make the switch to cobalt...trying to figure out how to go about this, looks like we cant move directly from gold to cobalt. my thought was to open another card (green or one of the free ones) that still collects MR points to keep my points, then cancel gold and apply to cobalt separately. let me know how youre going to go about your switch / if you've found another way??
I had to open a new card to get the bonus for Colbalt and downgraded my gold to the green one to keep my points. They said they were able to merge the points for some reason. Hope that helped.
Oh my goodness, so the Uber credit, and Dining credit only applies in the US? I was going insane here in Canada of why I can't sign up for Uber credit! Nobody has told me that! :(
The reason most amex Canadian cards aren’t as good as most Amex American cards is bc Amex isn’t as popular in Canada. Not all vendors in Canada accept Amex and bc of this amex hasn’t really tired to put in the effort to make their Canadian cards that great. The only good Amex in Canada is the cobalt basically bc if this.
I had to open a new credit card account with Amex. I think it’s because they wouldn’t give me the sign up bonus. Still have the card and generated almost 80k points so far. Great card for points
@andriipronenko2733 yup separately. The points weren’t able to merge either so I downgraded the gold to the green card (no fee). Since it was a new application I had a separate credit limit approved and I also transferred over my credit from the gold account. I left the green card at the min of $1,000 or so. Not sure if there’s an easier way to do all of this lol
With a Cobalt, whats the point of having a Gold?? In US though the Gold is an every use card for me. Im really surprised for the cost of the Gold in Canada why they dont offer more. But you can pay for less and get seemingly get more with points multipliers. AMEX needs to get it together. I am curious if you can transfer points etc the same you can here in the States from a Cobalt.
I’m mainly cashback. So it’s a great complement. I can use lounges and I use any points soely for cheap domestic flights like Hawaii. It's great for insurance tooz
