Wanted to replace 13 windows in my 1926 house. Kitchen built on in 1971 so you can imagine what the windows looked like. Window World came out and gave sales pitch. Very informative great windows. $8.500. Not bad at all with all you get with warrantees.
Just got a quote. 10k. for 9 windows and a 8ft wide by 7ft high sliding glass door. 2400.00 for the Patio slider alone. We have aluminum single pane Each window 389.00 no matter the size. 179.00 each for the install. 129.00 for EE and Argon each. Have not signed yet. But I think it's fair cost. Extra for Opaque and safety glass.89.00
I just used Window World when replacing my rental property windows on the house top floor. Four rooms=four 4000 Series windows=$2150. If you’re the rental property owner on paper, the most valid reason to replace windows is if the window structure is hazardous and could possibly lead to you being faced with a lawsuit. For example, the renter who was moving in has 2 toddlers. The windows posed a fire hazard and even fall risk. If your windows are difficult to open and/or keep open then obviously replacing the compromised windows will save you tens if not hundreds of thousand dollars just in legal fees and law suit damages. Great customer service and service line.
As a former renter, I would like to thank you for putting in energy efficient windows. I have had to heat up several houses with windows from the 1960s.
I had 8 of these windows installed in 2008 never had any major problems the ones I did and was taken care of with no hassle. Plus the price was a good deal for me.i would recommend.
I have been installing windows professionally for over 20 years. That is on average 10 windows a week for 23 years. I have personally installed over 10,000 windows. I have never removed the weights from the cavities and have never worked with anyone that has done that or subcontracted with a company that ever mentioned to do that. I have subbed jobs for all the major company's Sear's, Window World, Champion, Montgomery Ward,K-Designers.I also have pulled many permits for jobs from many different cities and never has one mentioned anything about removing the weights. I however think it is a good idea to fill it with foam, not necessarily remove the weights. Leave the weights in the void, drill a hole on top and fill it 3/4 up with minimal expanding foam. Installing professionally All of the major window companies DO NOT pay to take apart the jamb and remove the weights. Since it is not really necessary and a very, very dirty extra, it's not done. If you want the weights removed, you would need to tell the salesman that you want the weights removed so you could be charged more for the extra work involved, but in my opinion that is not included. Also obviously not all windows have the "weights" in the wall. Only the really old wooden windows do and those are getting few and far between. Are you sure your windows even had weights? To me it looked like yours were the type that used springs in a plastic track that the sash slides on. I don't think yours used the really old weights and rope type. And I don't think it's the biggest fail companies do. Not even close. The biggest I would say is not supplying the customer with safety glass when the code says it should be safety glass. In towns where there is no permits this happens a lot. Safety glass is 2x to 3x more expensive then regular glass so it is commonly overlooked.** Edit I looked over the video again and yes you did have the weights. But still should have left them in the wall.
RP it sounds like you have a lot of experience. I assume you've worked with Pella, Andersen and a variety of others. You're involved on the front end so you may not get feedback on how things are a few years later but I suspect you've gotten some. I have a custom home in a custom neighborhood in the midwest. I plan on selling it the next year. Zillow says it's worth about $250,000. There are thirteen windows that move up and down. There are stationary doors and widows that I may not replace unless the thermo seal is broken. At $289/window (although I may upgrade to 6000 series) it comes out to about $3,757. I assume there will be add on charges. I had an estimate from a local company that came in around $16,000 for thirteen windows. I want to be fair to the future owner of my home, but I also want to be fair to myself. I'm not sure what the draft factor is on the 6000 series. Do you have any suggestions on which way to go.
just a side note during the installation noticed that the installer didn't remove double hung weights and insulate cavities. This is one of the biggest fails that window companies do, always check the installation this is a big no no, not only is it just bad practice it is a huge loss of the efficiency of your new window purchase......
@@deeplydisturbedhuman3227 Its vinyl. You don't paint it like wood. Its warranteed. The frames don"t transfer heat nearly as bad as Aluminum. I'm curious as to your experience with Window Worlds windows that led you to your conclusion that they are junk.
Whenever there's an existing weight & pully system the exterior wood trim boards should be removed. The entire weight cavities & header gaps should be filled with a minimum of R19 5 1/2 thick fiber glass insulation. The exterior board's reinstalled and then custom bent -capped & caulked aluminum trim to entire exterior wood work. Many homeowners opt out of this step because of the additional labor cost involved. It is highly recommended and is well worth the nominal cost for maximum efficiency & performance of replacement windows. Also , by extracting existing windows from the outside, allows for zero disturbance to the interior woodwork.
Great video/review. A little longer than necessary, but well presented and informative. I was about to pull the trigger on new windows for a rental and these are all the things I was considering. It was nice to have them brought up, real world, in one place - helping me feel confident I wasn't "missing" something. Thumbs up and a new subscriber - thanks for the info!
Just to add my two cents. I used WW to replace a few very old, broken windows in a rental. They came in with 3 or 4 guys and knocked all three windows out in under 2 hours. I'm mostly happy with the windows and work. I did have a warranty claim due to damage on one of the windows which was resolved. I recently replaced another window myself using a Pella from Lowes. Comparing specifications on efficiency between what WE sold me and the Pella 150 series, WW is about 300% better. I'm happy with the looks and installation of the one I did, but I won't know for sure until winter. For the difference in money, I like WW. I did my own for much less, but the quality is not as good and obviously a lot more work. Only bonus is I know how it was done. The guys from WW moved so fast I couldn't keep an eye on the work they did.
Great input, thanks for sharing your experience, Ed! I think most of the variance people have in their experience (some love WW and some hate them) seems to come down to the individual franchise office in their area. Some of them are great operators with great installers and others, not so much. There was a great operator in my area, and that made all the difference.
I’ve used this outfit in Hughesville, Pa and their amazing. Not only was our sales rep Josh professional and acknowledgeable but as were the installers! I would recommend Window World to anyone!
So far W.W. in Orlando has been a letdown. As in, the guy who did the measurements left a window out of the order and screwed up the measurement on two of the windows. Now I’m in the position of having to demand an exchange for the windows that are off and free delivery and a discount on the window that was left out.
@@mckevrock not sure your talking to me but our windows were the 4000 series with a added color of almond. Each window was $385. Like i said Anderson Windows were Bout $700.0
We need 13 windows (2 picture windows 11 double hung) called Anderson we were quoted $30k after discounts it came to $23k (not a joke) we called window world the salesman was a very nice older gentleman we were quoted just over $7k for the 4000 series window ($200 more for 6000 series - does anyone recommend one over the other) so we are schdule with window world qnd even getting a door for less than half the quote of Anderson. Can not wait for this end result! Such a smooth, comfortable company to work with.
@@joereeder my neighbor just got Anderson windows already getting 2 replaced, 3 weeks after install and Anderson is telling them the sun damaged the window so its not covered by warranty...so yeah ill keep my apples 🍎 🙂
Andersone is shady and the most expensive. One of their salesmen frequents youtube video comments and constantly bashes other window companies or anyone that recommends other window replacement companies. I will NEVER give ANDERSON any BUSINESS due to this salesman and would pay more in fact ever if ANDERSON was cheaper which they are not. This salesman has cost them millions in revenue
Are all the screens the same size ?? I would like to get a full screen , I have had my windows for about six years! Love them , but the screens are half screen
They have a lot of complaints nation wide, the 2000 window series saves very little energy, not a good investment at all, the 4000 series much better at $400 a window and of course the 6000 series is the best energy window they offer. What I don't like is they charge extra to hall of your existing windows after they are removed. Looks like there average sale is around $450 per window.
They have complaints without a doubt, but, through working for most of these store owners ...the are good people who mean well. They have to pay a dump fee for the windows they remove and haul away, which is why they charge a fee. I am a 12-year vendor partner for Window World and have learned a lot during that time ... on here trying to learn more. For the price, it's by far the best window you can purchase. Other outfits sell a similar vinyl product and will walk in your home and try to charge you double if you are willing to pay it - that's not the Window World approach. Honest, hard working people who have been fortunate.
Window World does not manufacture their own windows, they source rebranded product from actual window manufacturers. Worst case the windows that they install might be low end product dependent on what window they are using which is often dependent on their location. Best case it's a decent window from a better company, but generally speaking Window World products are going to fall somewhere into mid-range quality at best. At the very least it's worth the effort when considering WW or any other installer for that matter to find out as much as you can about what window they are actually installing and follow up on manufacturer quality and customer service reputation. Some Window World (and other installation companies) sales people have been known to claim that they manufacture their own windows, something that they don't do, so if that's what you are being told then you might consider that as a potential red flag.
We had the whole house windows and doors replaced.we had so many problems now the door had keaked, they had been 3x to solve problems,so far none Bad business etiquette
0.3 air leakage means it has the most possible air infiltration rating you can get on a window. As in it is a drafty window. The rating scale only goes from 0.1 to 0.3 in other words worst possible.
I like my WW windows. A kid shot out one with a BB gun, made a bb hole and I lost all the Argon. I called WW for a replacement and gave them the serial number, a couple weeks later, a guy came out and replaced my window panel for free. That was awesome.
Very different perspective hearing a landlords view of WW’s work. Your property may be class C moving to a class D without the new windows. As the home owner I’m considering contracting with WW after getting two out of two good references that I obtained independently. New windows will protect my investment in my home. Where I live every home that looks cared for has new replacement windows.
These windows are made by MI WINDOWS and window world is just a retailer who sells the window for 2.5x the price they buy it from. I now this because I work for Feldco, and they sell the exact same windows from MI WINDOWS
If you are a Window World frachise owner you must have a retail space, and maintain warehouse space to store the windows. Do the sales, marketing and advertising, youself. You have to coordinate the install. That is not free. As far as I recall we are in a capatalist economy in the US. Are the windows to be given away at cost, or is a profit margin necessary to stay in business? Window World is still the best priced window. So what is the markup on Pella and Anderson? Why are they so expensive?
Exactly. Despite what this YTer guy says, WW does NOT make these windows. AMI does. They're just a middle man. Also, WW near me does Not use specific WW installers, they use contracted installers that are not usually WW employees. This is direct from the mouth of the sales rep that spent an hour and a half in my house going over the low-end version of their windows and didn't even have an example of the higher end options (series 4000, 6000, etc)
If you are in your forever home windows should be replaced every 20 years or so based on your budget. Modern windows are more energy efficient.....so cost savings recoup over time..but more if it is your forever home. If you are doing a flip it would not be cost effective to replace all windows at same time these companies can determine if a window or which ones actually need to be replaced ...they can tell if the window itself needs to be replaced or if the whole frame around it the woodwork will needs to be replaced because of water damage, rot etc....and there are other things you can do to improve efficiency like screens etc. Just recognize if you doing a flip or staying in a home for only 5 to 6 years you won't recoup the cost of replacing all the windows in general.
Why in the world would you replace perfectly good windows just because they were 20 years old? That's something tin-man sales people would tell someone, but it's a total waste of effort and money unless the windows being replaced were questionable to start with.
Only 5 minutes to install a New Window. The video doesn’t Show any Insulation applied between the window and cavity. I guess no insulation applied more savings and profit for Them.I was thinking about to have Window World replace my windows But after the video. No Thanks.
The two numbers that I put the most attention to are U value and solar gain coefficient. U value is the heat transfer ratio so you can think of it like a R value but in percentage form. That window for my area (Louisiana) would have a very good U value but for your area up further north would be probably average. Around here the u value is typically is around .34-.36 which means it allows around 34-36% of the thermal energy to transfer through it. Solar gain is the UV energy. Down here I recommend my real estate clients doing new construction to get a window with .20 because our primary concern here is that solar energy through our long summers but further north it is less important and you should shoot for the lower U value for the long winters.
They wrapped it with aluminum sheet metal. It's a pretty standard practice for replacement window trim like this. Looks pretty sharp when they're all finished.
They did. Total hack job on the caulking g on my windows. Triple check ALL OF THE CAULKING on the windows when they r done with job . They didn't wipe off any of the excess caulking.
I replaced all the windows in my house with the best windows WW offered, I'm pretty happy with the product. Just remember 9 times out of 10, you get what you pay for...
I thoroughly agree with the maxim You Get What You Pay for. Alot of people have a budget or rent their property out. In southern California and even central CA, temperatures go over 100 degrees regularly in the summer. So you want to block as much energy coming into your home as you can to keep it cool and reduce your A/C bill. This is not only good for your wallet its good for the environment. About 60 percent of the residential windows in the Coachella Valley have failed. The argon has leaked out, seals failed etc. Just going with the minimun required level of window for Socal (it will be didderent if you live where its not so hot) you will save a ton on energy costs. Especially if your HOA drops its requirement for aluminum, or bronze colered frames. Bronze in vinyl is more expensive than white. At any rate, the windows come with a great warranty and even if you can't afford the top of the line its a great improvement.
I just ordered new windows from Window World yesterday and the salesman told me Not to screw the brackets for the blinds into the plastic part of the window. all of my old windows are wooden and the blinds were specially cut to size to fit them. also I have the brackets screwed into the top header part of my old windows. now I am wondering if I can use my old blinds and were do I make screw holes to mount the brackets for the blinds? Has anyone else had any experience with the blinds? Thanks for any comments.
It sounds like you probably need new blinds - perhaps the kind that mount to the outside of the frame, not inside the trim work. I ordered blinds recently from blinds.com and I thought the product was pretty decent (don't worry, they didn't pay me to say that. :)
What was the total $ number of your window replacement project. I read the full blog post. So you had 24 windows and it cost you ~$11K (with landlord discounts)?
Seth Williams it's interesting that the cost was lower for the double-hung in your case. I just had WW visit here in the Houston area, and they quoted the opposite, stating the picture windows were in the $400 range and the double-hung being in the $500-700 range. On top of that, they quoted the same price for any size picture window. I have one window at 120" W x 55" H. That's an amazing deal! I opted for nearly all picture windows to compliment the mid-century modern look we we're going for. A few strategically placed casement and double-hung windows for emergency egress.
It depends on what part of the country you live in some places.Window world buys their windows from Mi in other places like the east coast they use AMI. They buy the cheapest windows that they can and then they mark them up sixty percent and sell them to you. They do not manufacture their own windows. They pay somebody to make them.
I just had mine done window world does not charge for different sizes it's all the same price 289 I had to pay an extra $25 per window because they were lead and an extra $10 to remove the storm window
U r the perfect customer for window world. Did u ask who was actually manufacturing the windows? Window world does NOT manufacture windows. I saw on the tag it said MI windows. MI has a bad reputation
I realize this is an older post. There are a lot of variables as to how much money you will save by installing new Windows. First, the kind of Windows you replaced (single pane verses double pane, aluminum frame verses wood frame, etc.). Second, the type of glass package was selected as a replacement (triple pane, double pane, etc.). There are even options (typically coatings like Low E, but there others) within the triple or double pane glass options that will affect their efficiency ratings. Most double or triple pane units are filled with argon or krypton gas as an insulator between window panes. Argon is most commonly used, and krypton is typically used in situations where they want to make the glass pane spacing narrower as it is a denser gas. Third is the physical condition of the Windows that were replaced. Things like rotting sills, sashes, poor glazing will make old Windows more inefficient. Also, the way old Windows were installed. I just had some old Windows replaced recently. I did a full window replacement. That means they cut out everything down to the framing on my house. My old frames were installed in the mid 1950's. There was not a whole lot of insulation around those frames aside from a little bit I added. The newer windows were completely insulated around after they were installed and before all the finish work was completed. That alone will make up for a huge energy savings in my case.
I had window world install my windows and it did not go well. The first day crews arrived 2 crew members got in a verbal shouting match with 1 employee walking off the job the remaining employees left, the same crew arrived and hour and half later they spend 2 hours and installed half the windows because an employee had a doctor appointment so employee first customer me second The same crew arrived the next day to finish window installation they spent 4 hours finishing the job. I had 18 screws and glass on my driveway that could have punctured my car tires I spend a hour cleaning up their mess. Also around the others windows had screws, glass, and pieces of old windows laying on grass something that my lawn mower could have run over. This is the worst window Crew that I experienced. I’m disappointed in the crews behavior they were not professional at all. I would never recommend window to anyone. And will never call the company again
These prices are so low because they haven't removed the entire window. Your stud work has not been assessed and you do not have any insulation between the stud work and original window frame. You now have 2 window frames and less glass.
Reliable subcontractors /installers are hard to find. Its better if the franchisee has their own installers, not sub contractors. You want licensed, insured professionals doing the work as well. That can be tough to find when so many contractors are willing to play games and hire illegals to cut labor costs. They are able to bid low but no where to be found when something isn't right. In the process they push out legal, certified, insured workers. And they leave the area or the trades because they can't compete on what is an uneven playing field. I worked for a licensed contractor in the coachella Valley, real close to Mexico. His price on a masonry wall was $85 a linear foot. Some A hole "contractor" said he could do it for $65. Impossible, if you are following the rules. Paying the workers comp insurance, paying minimum wage, etc. The material cost is the same. Its only the labor cost thats different. If everything goes right no one knows the difference but maybe you get into tax trouble with the state and certainly your insurance company is looking over the accounting. The accountant has to know they are doing something illegal. In Cali you just can't hire anyone. But they do. They try to get away with it all the time. By that time your project is already built/ installed. If you have problems you are SOL. I bid a job for an addition to an architect's house. Low bid. Probably too low knowing my boss. The homeowner went with someone else. I definitely got the feeling he was "hiring his own guys" to cut down labor. There was just no way he beat our price. If he didn't pay us we have something like 21 days to file a contractors lien. So the bill arrives in the mail next to the letter anouncing the filing of the lein. Standard operating proceedure, CYA. Of course if you are not legalky supposed to be working in the state, you aren"t filing a lien are you? No. People know this and fuck their contractors all the time. Stop paying, order changes right and left and don't want to pay...it goes on and on. You have to have a goid contract to begin with. One that says any changes will be extra. You have to have the homeowner PAY for the materials up front. Pay a certain amount when work is started. Pay when work is 50% done, 75% done, and pay upon completion. Otherwise you loose your shirt. So much BS and fraud in the industry I wonder why anybody is in the biz.
If you payed 10K for 10 or more windows, you got a good price. Any home with windows that are better than 10 years old, you need new ones. The new technology in windows is incredible. Your video didn't tell me anything, in fact you sounded a bit winey. I've been selling windows for 32 years. Each home has it's needs for energy efficiency. Your rental property most definitely needed new windows. Get rid of that old aluminum siding. It's a wet blanket to the walls. Backer board insulation holds water.
Used them for replacements on 12 windows in a house I remodeled. They advertised $189 installed. It ended up being closer to $360 for bare bones windows and 2 wrapped. Windows were great and he did all 12 in under 2 hours. The other problem I had was they said 6 weeks- 16 weeks later is when they were installed. Wasn't the biggest fan of my salesman either. I have no idea about their longevity, I dunno that I would use the again, mostly due to the time delay.
I had a similar experience. The person I talked to at their store actually told me they hate the "$189 window" tagline because it's just not true, but it's so ingrained as part of their brand, they can't get away from it. They told me 8 weeks and it took 8 weeks, so there were no surprises on that front.
So many caveats that can incease or decrease price. If the window has to be egressible, is in a place where the glass needs to be tempered, the size of the window or slider. Local tax breaks and permit requirements. What actually has to be done to the original frame. The color. White is cheapest. So much depends on where you live. These are franchises. Each with a different owner and sales force. Lowes and Home Depot are all about the bait and switch. The fine print. You definitely loose when you tell somebody your low price without the caveats and exceptions. Its nearly impossible to tell what a final price will be over the phone. Salespeople should come to your home with a loong worksheet to check off all the requirements, measurements and accesories.
I just replaced with window World and as soon as I paid, I was told that labor warranty only lasts 5 years. They will replace the windows after 5 years but I will have to pay labor costs. That's not what I was sold. I was told that labor and windows are covered as long as I own this home. Disappointed and lied to.
@@gs300rich4 oh, yeah they charged me for lead-based paint because I live in a 100-year-old house! I ended up going with a local installer instead.Ended up saving about $600!
Looks like you had a wonderful experience with Window World on the other had we have not. We have been waiting (4) four months, Window World here in Alabama has terrible customer service. They have not kept one single appointment they have made it is so frustrating we take off work and they don't show. They had no problem cashing our check but we are having a boat load of problems getting windows. We were going to buy doors from them after they finished the windows but that's a definite NO!!!! I did notice in your video that you said they are a franchise will the 135 West Valley Ave Homewood Alabama location needs to be investigated because the owners are making Window World as a whole look bad!!!!
I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like the problem is because of the franchise issue, with a different person handling all the logistics in each region (it's not ONE corporate office handling the entire country), so it makes sense that there would be differences in quality throughout the country. It's unfortunate that it's so bad in your case... if I'd had that experience, I wouldn't buy doors from them either. Best of luck getting your job done!
From what I have read all brands sears Pella you name it use like 2 factories in the us . All they do is put their name on the sash lock that’s it . My windows from window world are the same windows sears was going to charge 4 times more for
@@michaelschuler7397 oh really? I wasn't even aware of that. Given how many industries work this way (furnaces, AC units, siding, etc) - I guess it's not hard to believe.
As a landlord, no. I would never spend $10,000 to put new windows in a rental property unless I had to because the windows we broken out and needed to be replaced or if the building department forced me to do so. It would take a full year to recoup that expense. Not worth the cost.
Window world literally does not manufacturer their windows. A company called AMI does. Also, a lifetime warranty is all relative to that window... typically 5-7 years. This is all bull
Used window world before. Cheap vynal windows in my opinion. Didn't get my money's worth and they stopped performing good after 3 years. Should have went with Pella or Andersen but of course I made the mistake of being cheap.
Word of advice my father's in construction stay away from Vinyl to begin with. I'm currently looking at patio doors and replacing 2 window .. guy my father sent me to said he'd been working for 25 years , vinyl windows and doors is what he gets called out for repair the most regardless the brand however ,if I still wanted vinyl Andersen or siminton he would sell it to me, warned I'd be paying more for something that won't last ( the entire list of doors I'm looking at went out the window).vinyl has a tendency of separating due to heat and or cold not only does this alter appearance it can cause them to fail... now keep in mind I live in Florida it can go from Thirty at night 80 midday during the winter along with high humidity so it may not be as bad in other States. And Pella currently has lawsuits due to Window defects in my area Pella Windows leaked causing a lot of damage to new construction homes.pella producing for Lowe's as a result a lot of independent window companies no longer carry them they are mass-producing and when you Mass produce quality goes down. Andersen has had their own issue on and off throughout the years. never thought replacing a sliding glass door and two bathroom Windows would be this much of a headache
Yeah I bought two windows from window world and they left my exterior of the house explodes didn't even finish the trim work$1,600 for two windows to be set in place everything left exposed to the Windows actually cost about $700 for the pair
my older rental has anderson casement,i can hear wind noise.was going to put pella in my house but to many people are complaining and .now i am thinking about w.w..renewal by andersen is bull.installing comp.purchased a franchise.for what they cost i could buy a new bmw,no thanks
You should’ve had the old windows restored and deglazed, they would’ve lasted longer than the new double pane. Eventually the argon glass will leak out of the double panes and the glass will fog up. A vinyl window will probably last 20-25 years and an old window restored will last longer than that and it will be cheaper to restore.
whelenvortexr4 I agree that some of the older windows are made with solid craftsmanship. However, there can be several factors that folks are considering when they opt for the vinyl from WW. They typically center around the lifetime warranty against defects or failure. 1) Double-pane w/ argon for efficiency - A must for hot climates and WW will lifetime replace if argon leaks. No questions asked. 2) Decent financing terms 3) Lifetime transferable warranty 4) Competitive pricing on materials and install - WW is huge and deals in big numbers, allowing them to offer windows and installation cheaper because their initial costs are lower than others. Similar strategy you see with Wal-Mart. And WW is a company with long-term viability as a business. Note of caution: It's very important that WW customers understand and not void the warranty. Don't alter or paint the windows! While I love the old-school windows, sometimes the bottom-line dollar and piece of mind move folks to their product. Hope this explains the alternate viewpoint well. 👍🏼
the windows do not use a metal frame inside. metal expands and contracts which would more likely eventually leak argon gas quicker than the material they use.
@@freshpow21 Where its hot the metal gains and transfers heat into your home. But I think we are talking about wooden frame and sash windows in this comment?
Orcinus1967 that’s correct. The vinyl windows can transfer heat as well, but not as much as metal. Probably even more important is having proper insulation in the gaps between the window and the rough out framing. I live in southeast Texas and it gets very hot here. Even in direct, prolonged sunlight in August, the window frames and glass were slightly warm at the most. They are typically cool to the touch most of the time.
My experience with Window World was and still is a nightmare. I signed a contract Window World in Central Florida back in January of 2022. As of July 9, 2023 the have yet to finish replacing all the windows I ordered. It’s been one lie after another lie, failed to show when they said, no call no shows. still haven’t finished. The most unprofessional company I have ever felt with. Stay away!!!
It would be great if you would say upfront whether you got any sort of discount or free deal from WW for making this vdo. When you fail to mention it...viewers assume they paid you. Then we wonder........hmmmmm.
If your replacing 1960s windows even the crap is much better. Now are there windows better than Lowes or Home Depot? Probably not. You get what you pay for.
This should be considered a “what not to do” video for landlords. It’s called an “investment property” and yet the guy buys the cheapest piece of crap windows for it because “I don’t know when I’ll get my money out of it”. The only person who doesn’t get their money out of these projects are the people who end up doing it twice thanks to poorly constructed cheap materials.
Perhaps. Though I should say, I did end up selling this property for 3x what I paid for it... granted, the windows didn't cause the entire profit margin, but I did get my money out of the property a few times over.
This is nothing more than a Glorified InfoMercial For Window World. I am not saying Window World is bad, I have used them in the past and I just placed a new order with them. But this is just a commercial.
I don't think it is. I've worked on the marketing side of the business for Window World since 2008 and have worked with the owner of Window World West Michigan for a long time. I believe this guy wanted to document his experience. He didn't comment on the specific location and if it was a commercial for the local store, he definitely would have. There is absolutely no way Window World, the corporation would have invested into this guy to produce this spot. I think it's organic...I'm seeing it for the first time and enjoy reading all of these comments.
@@reader3769 not at all there r dozens of grid designs! Grids r on EVERY expensive house built in last 20yrs. Makes a dumpy rental like this look way better!
Experience... but apparently I didn't complain enough in this review - because you're not the first person to think this sounded like an ad. I'll try to be more negative in future videos like this. :)
The only thing you just flat out didn’t mention is that it’s just a vinyl window still. Yes I get that it’s a rental property but vinyl windows typically have a life of maybe 8-10 yrs before you really start seeing the breakdown from the sun, remember it’s just plastic. Now having said that if you really want a great long term investment into a home you plan on keeping and really want zero issues for decades to come then look at Renewal by Andersen, they are made with a 60/40 composit that has no exclusions in the “limited” lifetime warranty like a 5 yr labor and a $250 transfer to the next owner that Window World has and that’s what I noticed in just the short time I explored the site. Renewal also uses stainless steel as their spacer, they use real EPMD seals, real silver coatings in the glass, the double hungs are assisted with a block/tackle system when you open them. They don’t glaze the windows on the outside for the elements to get to the glazing, remember the sun is your biggest enemy against your home and especially vinyl windows. I could go in and on with all the differences and yes they are twice as much but 10x better to own for any long term piece. Best of luck to anyone buying vinyl windows
@@jamieperkins8796 nope, they range in the 1500-2500 per window, just depends on style, sizing and options. You get what you pay for in most products and certainly when it comes to choosing the right materials
@@jamieperkins8796 no it’s made with wood, PVC, stainless steel, metal locks, thicker glass, true EPDM seals, same as a car. Yes it’s not all plastic so yes you’ll get exactly what you put out for and yes you’ll do it again or be hassled for yea to come with trying to get warranty work. You decide, pay up now or pay as you go
Sorry but Window World is not a manufacturer, never has been. Window World now uses M I Windows and Doors. M I windows are not as good as Alside or Provia. Before calling this company please look up customer reviews. Window World has a bad reputation in the vinyl replacement window industry. The two big complaints are the advertised price is always higher and the quality of the workmanship is below industry standards. Steer clear of this company.
@@jamesaustin2256 Very bad insulation.. out of square, installers didn't put any insulation in, trim falling off the inside, horrible caulk job inside and out, left broken glass and trash everywhere.. I could go on but what's the point
I had window world windows installed in 2005. Only problem is one window has a bad seal and has clouded. Called them up and gave them the window number on the top. They ordered a new window for no charge. Use some other company like Alside or Provia and your are on your own. Who do you call? The jack leg installer who is out of business? Hard to call Provia World or Alside world. I guess their business model is the sell you a window and hide.
I used Window World and they are HORRIBLE. Windows are ok but their warranty is crap! Good luck ever trying to get something fixed because once they take your money they don't care about you. How much they pay you to make this video? Or I'm sure they gave you a good discount...good for you!
Oh man, seriously? I'm about to use my warranty because my tenants already destroyed a couple of the locks on these things... hopefully they don't give me trouble.
