You can't fly direct from London to Melbourne but you can fly as a 'stopover' not a transfer, meaning you get off and back on the same plane, in the same seat and it says the final destination on departure/arrival boards... I did this on my way, with the stop in Singapore for 45 mins in November. Hope that helps explain :) loved this video btw
I did the direct flight from London. It was 19 hours with a stopover in Darwin and then 5? Hours from Darwin to Melbourne but same plane and route so technically they consider it direct. Long, Hard but was lucky enough to get a whole row to myself.
