Making my way through the my father catalog. Loving their sticks. This one is definitely next on the list. My father hasn't let me down yet. Thanks for the review Tim.
Try the San Cristobal Revelation. It's the same blend as the Fonseca medico edition. My Father is definitely a brand worthy of everyone's humidor. The Le Bijou, La Opulencia, La Antigudad, the original Fonseca and the Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic are the best My Father offers. Everything else they make is "good" but not great. They end to leave you with a floral aftertaste which I find annoying
I was at the Casa De Habanos, the Cuban government-owned store in Cozumel, in 2019. They had a box of Fonsecas open. It immediately drew my attention to that "F" in the logo on the band. I had never heard of the brand, like several other Cuban brands like "Quai de D'Orsay" or Allones. I bought one there and smoked it seven months later. It was terrific, it hit my full-bodied spot. About two years later I was in one of my favorite cigar shops when I saw that "F" logo on some cigars and asked about them Sure enough "Pepin" Garcia somehow got the license to produce Fonseca brand cigars! I bought three of them and smoked them over the next two months. Each one was delicious. I actually like the flavor of licorice, like with anisette. Love the idea of a San Andres wrapper, skillfully used by "Pepin" Garcia's cigar artisans.
I'm having one r.n. ty for the great review. I like trying to pick up notes im missing (and thats quite a few) while watching a review to zero in on them..lol
Great review for an interesting, bold and tasty cigar. Jerry Garcia's infamous quote comparing the Grateful Dead to black licorice may apply to this particular burn. "The GD are a lot like black licorice, many folks don't like black licorice- but the people that do really, really, really like black licorice". For me, this applies here! Pepin and team do it yet again with another masterpiece.
Love the My Father stuff. Never get a bad cigar. I love some better than others (Opulencia & Judge are my current favs) but I really am looking fwd to this new Fonseca. I’m a huge fan Of the Mexican San Andres wrapper, so I looking fwd to one I just lit. Thanks!
No matter what you review. I end up buying it. My guy, you have an ability to describe flavors. And the thing is, you are spot on! I'll have to try this, especially since I'm on a San Andreas kick.
I'll be honest , I smoke about 3 cigars after work . Today I smoked 1st My Father The Judge 2nd Perdomo Vintage Maduro & 3rd My Father Fonseca Mx .....and this one has been the best so far for my palate . My Father is my goto as of now in my Cigar journey . I love their blend and consistently .
I’m smoking it right now and it’s really a fun and different cigar to smoke from My Father . I’m enjoying the spice and citric/ licorice notes +sweetness coming out of it . The retrohale is just a little bit rough at the beginning but then it becomes very pleasant. I’m smoking a lot of Trinidad Espiritu Series No.3 that also showcases a Mexican SA wrapper, that I like a lot, but I feel the Fonseca is a little less rough around the edges and the strength in the Fonseca is more manageable. It’s really a good buy!
Just went to my cigar store, looking for joya de Nicaraguan antano which I was disappointed to learn they no longer carry. Asked for a similar suggestion and am enjoying foncesca now. Black licorice is a good description of this taste like Premium black licorice. The other flavors balance it incredibly I’m really enjoying working on the final third now. Reminds me of the Antonio in retro hail in the front of my nose. I like my Coffee, black and strong and this is a nice surprise for me
Very interesting I haven’t had this one yet. I’ve had My Father’s other iteration of Fonseca. It was not in my wheelhouse. Is this similar to the “Jaime” cigar? That one packs a punch and is delicious.
@tim have you e er thought of starting cigar daily chapters? I watch bbq pit boys and they would start bbq pit boys chapter to bring people that live to bbq and experiment. Just a thought
I hate black licorice! What flag? OMG there was one! I always hated the daily pledge to the flag in school 1st through 12th grade! It seems barbaric but I love everything our stars and stripes stands for!! I have an old Fonseca box from last century; an excellent box worthy item 35 years ago!!
@@kristensorensen2219 I think they should bring back the pledge. I served under that flag for 9 years 67-76, had some friends that died for it. God bless all that have and do serve.
