She still has the presence of a 12yr old, probably the main reason why she's able to forgive in the purest way... There's definitely more to the story that she doesn't know herself... So glad she made something of herself,.. Such a pure soul

She is idealising her father a lot, I think there is so much that is underlying this idealisation.

It’s all bcoz of this horrible honour and shame culture!! In this kind of culture if one fails, he brings shame on the whole family! So she can’t even say something wrong about her father, by doing this in they’re culture she automatically brings shame on herself! They don’t really are individuals, everyone is responsible for everyone else!

There's definitely a level of love and forgiveness I have yet to tap into because hearing Alicia say, "I still love my father.." made me really dizzy. And not in a judgemental way at all. I'm simply in awe. I struggle to fully digest and accept these kind of tragedies. Wow.

She is unable to explain it but it is because she was still a child and was using the forgiveness of childhood. Children's forgiveness is the standard that everyone should aim for. It is illogical and automatic, you cannot reason it out because they are still in youthful spiritual immunity. They forgive those who do them evil at the drop of a hat and without reason. She never once thought evil of her Dad because she knew him, and she knew that the guy who had killed her family was not the person she knew, something had gone wrong with him and so you cannot blame him for that. This is the standard God wants us to get to in forgiveness.

This was definitely so painful to hear and watch. My heart goes out to her. The adults in her life definitely handled this terribly. The way they treated her marn. Deciding things for her without at least talking to her like moving from Durban to JHB amongst other things. What upsets me the most was how they didn't involve her in the planning of the funeral as well as how she didn't get a chance to even get any sentimental items for herself. It's almost as if her loss+ grief didn't matter to them only theirs. It's like she was treated like a burden. I definitely feel like there's more to what happened than she knows and is/has been told. I truly hope she one day finds the closure she needs.

This story is sad and horrific for a twelve years ago child. It has a lot of missing pieces, she could not understand why her dad did what he did. Her aunt's kept telling her she killed her parents. They knew what transpired between her and her dad, when her mom found out eventually and maybe threaten to exposure. Him being a teacher that works with children took this drastic action. I had my experience. No one just don't do what he did for no reason.

Thank you so much Alicia for your bravery to share your unimaginably sad reality, and what led to that. You are one strong, and resilient young lady trust me. Not many would be still standing to tell such a horrific experience. Just because someone is your "relative" does not mean that they will love you, Support you etc especially during the battles and struggles of our lives. However, because we grew up programmed to think that, we find it extremely difficult to understand or accept this fact. Infact many times, it's the non relatives that will genuinely love you, support you etc. I wish and pray for you Alicia, that you get nothing but the best that life has to give. You deserve all of it my love 💓❤😘🙏

Thank you so much Primrose. And I agree 200%with you on your comment. Just because we are blood does not mean that we will be loved, supported etc by them. I can tell you today the love, prayers and support that have come forth are friends and total strangers. A few people messaged me to say " just look at how much you are loved and prayed for". That for me is enough ❤. I thank you for your well wishes 🙏 🌻🤗

She was left with her maternity side, her father decided to murder everyone he loves but her, and they kept on blaming her for her family's death. I'm not a detective but I think maybe her father found out in the family gathering that she's not her biological daughter. I'm glad that she managed to pull through out of her suicidal thoughts cause I think it also gets to her that maybe she is not his biological daughter.

I was thinking the opposite that maybe the father found out that her brother and sister were not his so he said this one must be left behind as his the only biological daughter

But how could she want to make his late father proud after he murdered her family? I'm sorry he sounds evil to me. He's the reason why she's had a hard life.

I understand your point of view. Just as any child will make their parent proud. It was my dream too while they lived. Yes my dad did the unacceptable and I suffered tremendously. But I chose to look at my life differently. My hardships were my lifes lessons. My failure a stepping stone. My family's death taught me to live, love and appreciate life.

It sounds like he was a really good father, just mentally ill. Is she supposed to hate him or something? it’s always the most Christian people telling people NOT to forgive. WWJD?

Alicia's story is so heartbreaking her family failed her at the time she needed them the most. I hope she is doing well with each day that passes and I hope somehow in her dreams she got the answer and closure from her dad as to why he did what he did etc❤❤

They did fail her. That being said, I think they too didn't know how to cope. How does anyone deal with and heal from a murder suicide, especially when your culture and religion are so conservative? Also the fear and stigma that comes with a relative doing something this heinous is a lot for anyone. Her father put everyone in a traumatic position. I think her relatives were functioning in autopilot. They all have PTSD

This is no shade to anyone but the harshness her family showed her seems to be something typical of Indian families judging from my observations of the Indians I've known in my life. I believe that the father was suffering from depression and my heart really aches for what she went through 💔
