I'm weeping. Like ugly crying, at work. At my desk. In front of people. My dad passed away in March and I saw myself and my 3 year old son in this film in every phase. This is painful and beautiful. I'm going to squeeze my little boy extra hard tonight. Thank you Eric.

Bless you. It is so hard nowadays being a parent, spouse, working, trying to keep fit, the list goes on. Possibly have a regular slot where you and your son go out and do something, even if it’s kick a ball round the park. No phones, no tv, no social media. He knows and understands it’s just you and him. 😊

As a filmmaker I can't be positive I wouldn't be locked into my cameras screen to get the shot. I'm glad you weren't! (^ same person i was just on an old yt acct. lol)

I turned out like my father. It wasn't until he had to retire early due to health complications that later took him way too early did he change. Unfortunately, the damage was done. I walked down a similar past, but due to modern medicine, I'm still here. Now my kids love me. Back then, they tolerated me. It took a long time to figure things out, but I did before it was too late. This film hurt me bad. Bravo, sir.

You reminded me of how intentional we have to be or else we’ll always have a valid excuse to “keep working.” In the better words of C.S. I am a father of 3 children.. and this broke me.. I’m stress with my job and life and trying to make something for myself for them at 25 years old and I lose sight of them… this was something I really needed for myself and thank you for sharing this just like all the comments it was touching because I need to be the father I never had… God bless you all and anyone who reads this keep your head up and don’t be to share struggles with others

Not a dad (lol) but as someone who lost one, this hits home too well. I see my dad and myself in this. I’m very fortunate to have spent some good time with my dad when he was living, and this film kinda brought it all back. It’s a important message for everyone, dad or not: show the people whom you love that you care.

I absolutely loved and felt this!! And sometimes we need this type of checks! We work so hard and sometimes forget to look up and be there for the ones we love that are right around us! My daughter would sometimes sit in a chair next to me while I worked! And I had to tell myself that isn’t what spending time should look like and also had to make these changes! It’s a process but it’s important to balance your life and work! Job well done!

Sitting here helping my 6yr old with his homework… hits home hard. Great work man. We all got through so many emotions as parents but I find the strongest ones to be related to imposter syndrome. “Dad” or “Mom” when you’re growing up is such a larger than life character. It feels like impossible shoes to fill most of the time. Just being present (mentally) is usually the most important thing. Beautiful work. 👏👏👏

Well done. Love how the technical aspects (angles, music, shots) lend themselves beautifully to the message. As a kid and even now as a teenager, it means the world to me that my dad takes time out of his schedule to spend it with me. You won't regret it. Also loved the parallel shot from your dad at your soccer game to you with your son in the yard, even how the shot moved up to the trees when you were both excited. Incredible film.

the attention to detail is phenomenal. the VHS footage of His father filming him run and the camera loosing framing as he cheers, parallel with the iPhone video mimicking the same camera movement as the video drifts to the sky. Although this is open for interpretation the attention to continuity and parallel story telling communicates that like his father he is now present (as shown in the loosing of framing. He's not looking at his phone.) I love that. well done!

I love this piece, Eric. I can relate to a lot of your content. I also used to love Musicbed until recently, when I realized I can't make portfolio content with their music. I made a spec ad and was told I wasn't allowed to make that with their plan, nor was I allowed to link it to any professional business. A huge bummer as my YT obviously works as my portfolio. Now I am in the process of recreating all my films with new music, and a new channel.

Eric, I don't get to watch too many of your videos but I have watched a number of them. I'm a fan of films and even more so a fan of short films. From the moment this one started I knew that it was going to be something special. The title alone gave me something to look forward to. For someone that didn't grow up with their biological father and lost both of my parents in the same calendar year, this touched me in more ways than one. I would LOVE to see more of these from you.
