They just can’t handle it. They take it personal and feel the singer or whoever is being disrespected. When none of this matters and they simply cannot enjoy anything in life. Just miserable people.

30. Mick Taylor After the death of Brian Jones, Mick came into the Stones and pushed Keith Richards all over the place. They became one of the great guitar duos. Mick came from the John Mayall school of blues rock. Mick played similarly to Eric Clapton with very clean lines and a no frills style. Mick could play rhythm and break out into a gorgeous guitar solo. He created his own solos on The Rolling Stones tunes. He left the band in part because Keith wouldn’t give him any writing credits. Taylor basically wrote “Sway” with Jagger. Keith only added background vocals but still claimed authorship. Despite those differences, while Mick Taylor was in The Rolling Stones…their musicianship improved by light years. 3 albums were Crusade (1967) with John Mayall. Mick was only 18 then. Exile on Main Street(1972) had some marvelous playing from Mick on songs like “Rocks Off”, “All Down the Line” & “Soul Survivor” It’s Only Rock and Roll (1974) with fine tunes like “If You Can’t Rock Me” & “Dance Little Sister” My song pick is “Time Waits For No One” which has Mick playing a long astonishing guitar solo. This is among the greatest guitar solos of all time in my opinion. It soars and rolls and leaves you aching for more. Mick Taylor is among the best guitarists ever …especially on the Gibson Les Paul.

I can't believe after all these years, so many people can't tell the difference between "favourites" and "best" when it comes to RU-vid videos. So, let’s break this down clownstick. You start off saying you can’t believe people can’t tell the difference between “favorites” and “best.” Then you proceed to state that there is no way Coverdale is the 3rd best singer. Completely contradicting yourself from your initial statement of people not knowing the difference between “FAVORITES” and “BEST.” You’re a special kind of stupid aren’t you?

Keeping it simple....JOE SATRIANI- Solo stuff: Technically proficient & a rock/progressive/occasionally jazzy fusion + this guy has taught a lot of others licks & encouraged those players to progress. + I'm sure there's a reason Sammy chose this guy for the current VH nostalgia tour.... gotta be "top of the line" to even attempt to do justice to Edward's genius. Good morning (afternoon, evening or night), Pete. Great choice to start your list. At least one guitarist from that band will be on the personal list. Personal pick today? Again, these will not be in any particular order and not sure will name thirty but let's start with this guitarist [singer/songwriter and producer] whose distinct style came to these ears with the first single from the debut album of the band he is most associated with - Mr. Mark Freuder Knopfler. One of the founders of the band Dire Straits who also pursued a solo career after the band ceased. Such a unique fingerstyle guitarist with great tones. Not a guitarist here so pardon and technical terminology inaccuracies this month. The three albums? All from the Dire Straits days - the eponymous debut (1978), Making Movies (1980) and Love Over Gold. The song for today? Telegraph Road from the Love Over Gold album [start at about the 9 and 1/2 minute mark and just listen to for the next 5 minutes or so]. Thanks, Pete. My #30 pick is an American musician, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the blues rock trio Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. Although his mainstream career spanned only seven years, he is regarded as one of the most influential musicians in the history of blues music, and one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He was the younger brother of guitarist Jimmie Vaughan. I'm talking about the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn On August 27, 1990, Vaughan and four others were killed in a helicopter crash in East Troy, Wisconsin, after performing with Double Trouble at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. An investigation concluded that the cause of the accident was pilot error. Vaughan's music continued to achieve commercial success with several posthumous releases and has sold over 15 million albums in the United States alone. Rolling Stone has twice ranked him among the top twenty guitar players of all time. Vaughan was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, along with Double Trouble bandmates Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon, and Reese Wynans. Albums- Texas Flood, In Step and Can't Stand The Weather Song- Pride and Joy Pride and Joy" was a feature of Vaughan's live repertoire before he recorded it. According to Double Trouble drummer Chris Layton, Vaughan wrote it for a new girlfriend at the time; somewhat ironically, a later fight with her inspired "I'm Crying'".The song was released on Stevie's debut studio album Texas Flood (1983). "Pride and Joy" was released as Vaughan's debut single and has become one of his most popular songs.

30. Greg Sage (Wipers) Wipers - Youth Of America 1981) Wipers - Is This Real? (1980) Wipers - Over The Edge (1983) From 1978-1983, this Portland band influenced a ton of American post-punk and post-hardcore guitar players. Greg Sage carried on with many more albums after moving to Phoenix, wrapping up in 1999. He still remains an underrated, underground player, despite Kurt Cobain giving him props. "Youth of America." Not about the solos, but the droning chugs and tones! I thought of doing 10 each in three categories: all-time, guitar teams and 21st century. But fuggit, I'll just have to have a long-ass bubblin' under.

Hey Pete, I liked your opening statement & I agree. But you are never going to stop some people from being negative. I surely don't agree with some of your options, but I watch the show because of your love & knowledge you have for music. Plus these are difficult assignments. The hardest part for me is who to leave off. And I've been doing my 5 favorite song performances instead of albums. One last thing, I know you are staying away from the live albums for the most part. But, Child In Time, the studio over the live Made In Japan? Not me man, Ian was my favorite & Child In Time is the 1 song, but it has to be Made In Japan. And I'm not one of these guys like yourself that thinks the live versions are always better. I'm quite the opposite of that, I think the studio versions are the way they was meant to be & are the better versions for the most part. But I love when you do stuff like this, I wish I would have found your show when you was doing all the early album rankings, I would have loved to have put in my rankings, but this is fun & hard at the same time. Keep up the good work & good luck with the guitar rankings.

Today's pick in no particular order is Peter Brabbs of Tank. Featuring the great Algy Ward (formerly of The Saints and The Damned) on Bass and Vocals, this Motorhead influenced Metal outfit is one of the best of all-time and Peter Brabbs is a phenomenal talent blasting out one great riff after another. Best 3 albums are Filth Hounds Of Hades, Power Of The Hunter and This Means War. Best song is "Used Leather (Hanging Loose)".

This is a band I only recently discovered despite their NWOBHM vintage, and they are so good!

Favorite player #30 - John Honeyman Scott: My favorite riffs, since he was on only two albums: THE WAIT and UP THE NECK, from the Ist album, and Message of Love from PRETENDERS II. A true riff king, had he lived.

Where to start on this? My top 5 maybe top 10 are easy, but the rest? So many to choose from. Anyway, here goes Andres Segovia, the original shredder! Can't really pick favourite 3 albums, but I can certainly go with my favourite work which has to be Concierto de Aranjuez (better known as "Rodrigo"), especially the 2nd movement. Also an honourable shout out for Fantasia Para Un Gentilhombre. Incredibly gifted, beautiful touch and always helps me to relax. My tastes are very wide and varied so my picks will be all over the place.

Love Betts! Lucky to see him live at the Beacon multiple times with the Allmans. Looking forward to where Schenker falls in your list! LET'S GO METS!

I'm gonna play this one: Today's pick is Kim Mitchell, of Max Webster and solo fame. He has real technical skills and he can write some great guitar parts. 3 good examples are: Go for a Soda, Paradise Skies, and Hold the Line. It's not otherworldly, but it's tasty as hell
