Enjoyed this man's animation and appreciation for timeless old school barbershop aftershave. I have read reviews where some old school aftershaves have been skimping on ingredients and the new formulas have a nasty cheap unpleasant perfume odor. I don't care for baby rum or citrus odors. My favorite is the Poraso Eucalyptus. Liked it so much I bought the 13.5 ounce bottle from Walmart on line. Money well spent rilly enjoyed this video makes me want to try the some of these.
my favorite Fine aftershave is Platinum. Never used Floid, but for Christmas I got the PAA Vloid shaving soap and aftershave and I love it. B&M makes great aftershaves too!
Great video Mark....I like the recipe for the soothing tonic...gonna try that. I have some of the ingrown hair issues at the collar line and never knew what to use to make them heal or get better as its tough to shave without irritating that area. As a businessman I hate when that area gets irritated and then messes up your collar line on a nice white crisp dress shirt. I have always just used a styptic pencil but man talk about a burn on your neck. Dude keep up with great vids....like several others have said...Im hooked on the "Proper" wet shave now...def better than the electric razor
Absolutely love this video and the way you describe each aftershave! Definitely have to give the tonic a try! Can you apply it in your hands like an aftershave? Or do you have to use a cotton ball?
Fine Italian Citrus is on Amazon uk at around $27 inc del. Castle Forbes "fougere" scent balm is right up there for me amongst the best splash on's. This was a great video - good format and talk/chat accompanying your choices.
Luigi Luigi Fine Accouterments temporally stopped production of Italian Citrus aftershave due to cost and lack of ingredients. This was back during that period. He since started making it again BUT a different formula😡. It’s good and I have it but the original ingredients smells better and unique IMHO.
Mark, if you like Razo Rock's XXX, you'd love the cologne it imitates, Aqua Di Parma. But I warn you, one whiff and there's no turning back. And if you like Floid Blue, you might want to try Razo Rock's "Blue Barbershop."
I do not really have a favorite after shave. But I do kknow which after shave people liike the most when I use it. Canoe Sport by Dana. They do not make it anymore. I can find the cologne online, but cannot fiind the after shave anymore. I checked a couple times over the years, and found it a few times on ebay, but it was so expewnsive it was not worth it. I still have around a half a bottle, and cannot find it at all onliine now. Nonethleesss, it is the only after shave I have ever worn that I literally get compliments every single time I weear it. Rarely do I ever get compliments on after shave, but every time I wear Canoe Sport I get complimenets on it. I think it smells good, but others seem to think it smells great. I like it, but only because it makes my face feel soft, and stops irritation, but for some reason others think it is the greatest smell ever.
I just learned that not to long ago as well. Applying the witch hazel mix & then hitng the balm works great! Enjoyed the video... You have a great collection.
HORACIO MONT Pitron Classic is a very clean scent. If you are familiar with Proraso Green aftershave this will give you an idea of what it smells like. It is slightly different but pretty close. When applied, it goes on very even. It is alcohol based so you get a menthol and refreshing feel. It dries without leaving your face dry and the scent last a good three to four hours. The other Pitron, bigger bottle with red, has a strong citrus smell. One of the ingredients is banana and it can be smelled. It goes on fairly strong but the scent settles after a few minutes and it actually smells better after about 30 minutes. It goes on thicker like a liquid lotion but as it dries, it evens out. I particularly wear it during the summer months. Pairs well with any citrus scented soap or cream. Hope this gives you an idea. Both a reasonably priced so get a bottle of each!
I never had the pleasure of trying Floid Blue. I understand that Epsilon Blue is in the same vein as the retired Floid product, but supposedly a little less powdery. I have some on order.
Geo Mondiale I really liked the original formula before his new one but yes it’s awesome. Perfect match pairing with Aqua Di Parma Colonia Cologne for the warmer months!
b H this was awhile ago. Since this video I've acquired TOBS Sandalwood and like it very much for fall/winter. As far as PAA's, like you said, to each their own.
for how many years aftershaves and soaps/ creams last i wanna start a collection of mine but because i m shaving 3-4 times a week i dont want to spend my money and after some years my collection is for the garbage
Sterling Archer Omega makes good boar brushes. I feel for boar hair, the longer the better. Here is one Caleb McCullan uses and he really likes it. www.amazon.com/Omega-Shaving-10098-Professional-Bristle/dp/B002V40IS2/ref=sr_1_7_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1494995465&sr=8-7&keywords=Omega+boar+brush
Pitralon is Italian not Swedish....i know because i waited long time for it to arrive ordered it on a danish website they said it is an Italian product..but kinda strange on the same website it says the product is made in Germany Googled it and another site also says AKA German product pitralon.com/en/ its German this is the English site though...i could put the German i understand German not sure you do though...oh you mention the product Fine...its new to us in Denmark or at least the site i buy from
Pitralon is a confusing brand. There are, as I understand it, three versions of Pitralon, one made in Germany, one made in Switzerland, and one made in a former Eastern Block country, perhaps the Czech Republic. Each formulation is different. The Swiss version is pineapple dominant. The German version is pine forest dominant.
