Welcome to my random musings on all things backpacking. If you haven't already guessed, my name is Dan. I was bit by the backpacking bug in 2014 and since then haven't gone one day without thinking about my next adventure. I'm from Chicago, a great city but...not so much known for its bountiful backpacking opportunities. Nevertheless, I haven't let that stop me from enjoying the outdoors. Hope my videos leave you with one or two takeaways, or even better, inspire you to head out on the trail. Thanks for watching! Have fun out there!

I saw the title and all the logos and had to check it out. I can’t believe you started with Tarptent. The most underrated tent manufacturer out there. I have a 1person Rainbow silnylon and love it. I see the 2 person now comes in DCF. I hope the single does I’ll buy one. Love their unique designs and Henry has great communication and customer service. I like Altras too 😊❤️🇺🇸⛺️🌄

Can’t beat Darn Tuff socks. I love Warbonnet where I got the Blackbird XLC hammock and the Super Fly tarp. I got my quilts from Hammock Gear as I was living in Ohio. Now thanks to you my next bag- Superior Wilderness Designs.

I love Warbonnet Outdoors, my Blackbird XLC hammock and Thunderfly silpoly tarp have been nothing but fantastic. I also wouldn’t where anything but Altra’s on the trail. I have a pair of their normal running shoes that I wear everyday also because I liked the zero drop and wide toe box so much. They have also held up way better than the trail runners. Darn tough socks are also a big one. I wear them everyday, not just on the trail. My final is Hammock Gear. I have a set of their quilts and they have been great. My LiteAF bear bag has also been great so I would return to them for anything like that. The flat bottom is fantastic.

I love Garmont shoes. I've never switched brands in about 20 years now on and off trail, great high arch support. Also X-Bionic socks are great.

LiteAF seems to be a common theme. I'll have to seriously consider them next time I'm looking for a new pack. Thanks for the comments!

Dan, I've taken the plunge and produced my first ever RU-vid videos, in no small part due to your encouragement, thanks. If you want to see the man behind the mask, search for HIKERDOC on RU-vid. They are editorially inept and a Thespian I am not! But, hey-ho, at least I've given it a go and maybe the content might be useful, plus the English woodland has its merits!
