Yeah will definitely update on that soon, just have had a lot of stuff going on in recent months so less time for filming/editing, I'd rather use the time I do have on actually writing and moving forward with my books 😅.
I read Sword of Kaigen a couple of years ago, it was quite good! Yeah I was quite impressed with how strongly defined the characters were in it. It's also like, surprisingly hopeful, for such a bleak setting? Haven't read "Before the Coffee Gets Cold", but if you liked it, you might check out Callahan's Cross-time Saloon (the Callahan series). From your description, they sound quite similar. Callahan's bar is at a space-time nexus where supernatural beings, aliens and more come to hang out and commiserate about their troubles and stuff. It's an older series, but it's quite good. I'd describe it as "Cozy Fantasy" One of my favorite books I read this year was The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji. It's a Honkaku ("fair-play") mystery book, I just found out about this genre this year. With that genre there's no cheating, the author can't withhold vital clues from you, so you actually have everything you need to solve the crime. Fiendishly, cleverly written
Interesting, I've never heard of a Honkaku book before, I guess it sounds fun if you want to try to solve the clues yourself and not just read the story of how the characters do. And thanks for the recommendation, will look up the Callahan series.
Awesome video Iasmina! I quite enjoyed Piranesi. I read it last year as well. Before the Coffee Gets Cold has been on my list to read. I also want to read Narrow Road. Rothfuss is one of my favorites, and I really enjoyed the original short story.
Seems like a lot of people read Piranesi last year 😄. And I think you'd like Narrow Road also, even though you've read the short story. It was just nice to be back in that world, it scratched the itch for me of missing Rothfuss's writing, at least for a little while.
Hi my best read last year was a scifi novel Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. So damn good. I am thinking about reading those two Japanese books you showed, funny that a colleague recommended them to me only last week too.
Ah yeah I still need to read Project Hail Mary, I loved The Martian 😊. And yes you should definitely try those two books, they are short so it's not a big commitment.
aw 😔 I liked that The Great Hunt felt like its own story now and not just a LoTR retelling, and I can start to see the bigger picture of the story, so I'm quite excited to continue.
