@@KelLauren People are SO gatekeeper-y about fonts. Subjectivity plays such a strong role in graphic design. People also hate on certain fonts for the wrong reasons. Comic Sans, Papyrus, Helvetica...none of those are necessarily bad fonts, they're just overused/used in places they shouldn't be, and somehow that translates to people thinking the font is bad entirely.

Gopher is one of the only reverse-contrast fonts that you can look at without bleeding from your eyes. Nice to see it getting some love

i’m a senior in high school, i just started a new school this year and took a graphic design class. i’ve always loved making things digitally so i really enjoy graphic design, i’m taking gd2 next quarter and i’m so excited. i’m going to go to college for graphic design and i just wanted to say how i love your videos! i think the first video of yours i watched was when you dyed your hair blue and i subscribed after that, then i saw you in my subscriptions with a video about graphic design and i was like woah!! ur now my favorite youtuber AND would like to add on that i love your shirt :~) i love snail mail

I feel like the definition of Slab Serif is that theres very little transition between the strokes of the letter and the serif. Very rectangular and sharp generally. Fun choices though! Learned about a lot of new fonts here so thank you!!

As I’m beginning with design just now, I’m still into that honeymoon phase with the classic, well established typefaces of our age like Helvetica, Futura, Univers, AG, Didot, Garamond, etc. After I understand all the foundations that these typefaces set to all the more modern ones, I think I’ll be ready for diving deep into this adventure of finding new, exciting fonts by myself. Definitely gonna refer to this video later. Many thanks Kel!

if you want to explore more typefaces and see how they are used, have a look on fontsinuse.com. I always think that website is really helpful and inspiring if you want to learn more about type and how to use it. The classics are always a nice go to to keep!

I had a professor once that was VERY insistent on us using the term typefaces, like she would wait for you to reword your question if you used font outside of the context of size, weight, and style. I'm not pretentious, I'm brainwashed :(

@@remotefaith Exactly! Your professor means well, I guess. It’s important to use the right terminology. If you think the word typefaces is too long then you can shorten i into “type”.

I'm an old, so my favorite fonts tend to be old, like Eurostile, Cooper (everybody knows Cooper Black, but the lighter weights have a charm all their own, just waiting to be rediscovered), ITC Century, Franklin Gothic-- that said, this is a great list.

Loved this, I am such a nerd for type! It's interesting to see how you're so drawn to more retro style fonts - I tend to go for 'cleaner' types, particularly Mrs Eaves (Roman petite caps) at the moment I agree about cursive/handwritten fonts, they never quite hit the mark and feel somewhat unauthentic so I always end up doing it myself

Love this, thanks for the inspo! Check out the typefaces "Gin" and "Brothers" on Typekit. And I really like "American Brewery Rough" too, you'll find that one on Dafont!
