Back around 1999 or so John Entwhistle came to St. Louis and I got to drive him around in a Dodge Neon. His tour manager was in the back seat and he was in my passenger seat. I drove him to his gig and he signed a tour book that says To Cory Thanks for the ride. After the gig we went out in the alley behind the club and his tour bus showed up. We hung out all night. He was so deaf that his tour manager had to yell to him from the back seat just so he could hear them. I have a numbered CD that he put out with his own money and it is number 45. I had to share that story about old Thunder Fingers as they called him. Thanks for everything you do. I love your channel.

As someone who has not as much gear experience as you do, mine is just a guitar. But I absolutely LOVE the Telecaster Deluxe. I was never a big tele guy until I found that guitar. Man. What an axe.

Man. A good Big Muff just cannot be matched. That sound is filthy good. Now, most people showing off the pedal show off that filthy, grungy distortion that so many garage rockers run with. The Muff can do so much more though. Dial it in just right and you get a silky smooth singing sound that sustains forever. Think Comfortable Numb. That's the holy grail of tone right there for me.

Rookie electric player here. BY FAR my favorite episode yet. LOVE the history of each and the tones giving me chills even through my phone speakers! Thank you! Shared it, can’t wait for the 80s

I worked at Carlsbro Sound Centre from late 1978 onwards, and was surrounded by all this gear when it was new. It was a great time to be in music gear retail. Just wish I'd kept all the guitars I bought back then.

70s were the best at the time. I had a Ross Chorus Pedal that I used quite a bit. Good memories, looking forward to your 80s review.

So happy to see the Small Clone! About as basic as a chorus pedal can get but it's just sooooooo murky and dank sounding, especially with some reverb and delay. I don't know, I'm not into "subtle" chorus, I want people to hear it lol.

Good ole TS808. What was Ibanez's answer to BOSS' OD-1 wound up becoming one of the most versatile circuits still used today. When used as a boost, you still get some level of gain in the form of a volume boost and some compression. However, what you do not get is the soft-clipping from the circuit when you have the drive on 0.

You mean you didn't ask Josh "He has the Box" Scott for some OG pedals from the 70's? Bummer dude. Would've made this epi that much better. But I like it anyway, can't wait for the other epis. I have the Small Clone as well because of our beloved Kurt. And you gotta love 70's Big Muffs.

No episode about '60s pedals and gear? It'd be interesting to hear your take on early fuzzes and wahs, and maybe the UniVibe.

I have a collection of Tel-Ray Morley pedals that I like - the VBO (Volume Boost), the Pro Panner (PVL), the PWF (Power Wah Fuzz), and a VOL (Volume - use as a master volume). If it ain't chrome, it ain't got that tone...

I had zero idea that the Ibanez TS was from the 70's; always thought they were from early 80's. That Small Clone really blew me away and now I need to get one.

my favorite piece of 70’s gear has to be the peavey t-40. stupidly heavy in both the weight and tone department. mine has an aluminum neck and clocks in at 15 pounds.

I'd love an RD... I had a Chibson version a few years ago that actually felt real nice that I was gonna mod but I ended up selling it. Wish I still had it, I am much more aware of what I could do with it these days. But that said, I have a 78 Ibanez PF200 I am currently playing and I love it.

I didn’t know the Boss OD and the Tube Screamer were similar. I should have known because My tube Screamer replaced my Boss OD which was pretty good too

I bought a Mutron Phasor II from the States back in 2004 for not a lot of money. I sold it a year or two later when I needed to pay some bills. Absolutely gutted as it was the best pedal I've ever owned. Absolutely noise free and sounded amazing.

For the fan of Big Muff, the french of Ana Sound made the ultimate version of the effect, name the "Full Story", when you can play 2 versions of the Big Muff...and you can also swap the circuit inside the pedal for a different version (Triangle, Ram, Civil war, OP-Amp, Green, etc...), no soldering required :)

@@jakes6023 yeah them old formula 1's are from 1981-1986 and were more PRS clones than they were strat clones. They're pretty neat guitars and mine is worth about 350 USD.

Interesting features on the RD. Super fancy multi bound headstock with no fingerboard binding to keep ‘em guessing. I wonder if Jimmy Page has played his since Knebworth in ‘79?

Hey Fluff! I'm looking to buy a vintage Rd but I hear they're better for lower tunings due to the longer scale length. My band normally plays in standard tuning, so I was wondering what your opinion on playability in standard is?

I had an 70’s RD Standard, it was heavy, and lifeless sounding. I tried replacing the stock tarback pickups, still was dead sounding. However It was always a hit with guitar nerds when I played it out. I ended up selling it. Maybe mine was a dud?
