I wish pro rollerbladers did "my setup" videos like this. Pro skateboarders talk about there shoe and board setups and it gives you tips to try on your own setups and insight into why they do certain things.

I got the twister edge 3x110 after watching your first video on it...and all the advice online was size up size up....I risked it and got my size...and it was tight...its taken alot of wearing in but I'm so glad I didn't size up. They fit like a glove now with minimal discomfort and I love em. Hoping to get the NN Ronin frames maybe next summer when money isn't so tight. Also...would the maxxum edge top ratchet buckle fit on the twister edge? would be an interesting upgrade maybe? thanks for the content you put out mate.

I have twisters ranging from 10.5 to 12.5. I'm probably a 10 in RB cruisers. With the skate shortage I had to size up because that's all I could find.. Sometimes I appreciate a huge boot because it gives me a longer frame (255 vs 243) and generally more inertia and stability due to the added weight.. No issue with ankles and the center and top strap get rid of all the play if cinched down enough. I think ideally I would be perfect in an 11.5 twister.

Check it out if you get a chance. Even got a brake only thing it's from 12 years ago. Looked online but couldn't find them. And I'm still looking for a boots to put the frame and wheels from the Maximum. What do you think about putting them on the tempish black ice hood. Been looking at a bunch of different skate to put the Maximum frame on even the seba marathon 325 but at 599 us don't want to get them and be disappointed. Tried to put them on my rollerblade 90mm 165 mount but the middle wheel just touches. If you have any suggestions please let me no. Wide foot. Hard or soft boot or a little of both. Enjoy the video

Some good info here, thanks. I just bought some Roces M12, they are a bit snug, hope to break them in or get a thinner liner for them. Myfit second skin seems like it would make em fit wider? What you're talking about: going really fast but still having a lot of space for centre grinds such as a frontside is exactly what I'm looking for. I started a few months ago and I love it, but my M12 LOs feel really slow to me (58mm antirocker). I actually do really like the anti-rocker, but it's also nice to see how you can manage a flat setup with the smaller wheels which helps my fear of wheelbite. I think I have a EUR 43/ US 11, since you have about the same, what Oysi frame length do you use?

What size wheel is good for learning on? The Next 80, Next 90 and Imperial 80 are the three that seem most appealing, the 80 seem to be most common - does that mean they are more accomodating for beginners? I am not new to skating, just haven't done it for 20 years. Would love to know your thoughts. Mostly will be used to skate for exercise, cruising down paths at the beach & probably won't ever 'hit' at rail for fear of hitting my head on something when I inevitably fall. I guess the style of skating is urban freeskating?
@ThirtyandRollin
@ThirtyandRollin 2 года назад
Yep the 80mm is the standard now days and a great all-round size. Also good for people just starting or coming back into it. You can go bigger if the areas you are skating are rough to help smooth it out.

I have been thinking about a big wheel setup for a while and it is really hard to decide nowadays, but after watching this video I think 4x100 setup will be the most ideal, I was thinking about a 4x90 - 3x110 mixed frame but if I would have a 4x100 option probably 3x110 would not be needed, even if there would be a 4x100 - 3x125 option it would not be necessary either, probably somehow it would compromise something, looks like 4x100 is the best option for urban environment, it will eat up everything on it’s way, bad asphalt, cracks, stairs nothing can stand!

This goes for both setups, how do you deal with wheel rotation? I skate long distance with 4x80 (flat) and 3x125 setups. Im interested in getting a 4x100 or 110 rockered but I cant get my head around how I rotate the wheels. The same applies to the Oysi frames. When I rotate wheelz on my flat 4x80 setup I use a really old school diagram showing which wheels to switch but this diagram assumes all 4 wheels arw the same size and flat
@ThirtyandRollin
@ThirtyandRollin 2 года назад
Great question! I'm no expert on this but I personally just flip the wheels in place so wedge out on a rockered setup. You can flip 1 to 4 and 2 to 3 if you want, then flip the wedge out. If you want to keep a less rockered setup you can swap them the normal way on a flat setup.

Hey there thirty+rollin, I’m a beginner to skating just bought my first pair of skates (m12 malva) but I’m having a very hard time grasping the fundamentals due to me realizing that I’m on 4 wheels anti rocker setup instead of 8 flat which I have 0 experience so I its been difficult to gain any momentum/speed to even begin learning how to maneuver and posture properly for basic skating, I was wondering if you’d have any wheel recommendations that way I can either replace the 2 middle wheels on each boot or just replace all 8 wheels entirely, other then that I was going to replace the laces as you mentioned but don’t know specifically what brand is best for wax laces, I’ll keep everything else on the boots stock for now . The reason why I went with this specific skate was because I love the classic design and my intention was to learn the basics and after I grasped an understand of them to then transition into grinding
@ThirtyandRollin
@ThirtyandRollin Год назад
Yes you need to be on a flat (or rockered) setup to learn basic inline skate moves. Anti-rocker are great for learning grinds but terrible for learning how to skate. I do love the Endless frame! I just don't have one in a 165 mount for the Twister boot.

Never got the appeal of roces. Or basically any $300 skates that use plastic frames....

I just really enjoy the look and the fit. If they made a metal Qysi frame I would be all over it.

Damn you talked about those skates for a long ass time. I fast forwarded 3/4 of this video. Just sayin…

I lost interest and stopped watching after he wasted the first 30 seconds by talking about the weather. I knew then that he was going to waste 28 minutes of my time for what could have been explained in 5 minutes, had he stayed on-topic. GET TO THE POINT. DON'T WASTE OUR TIME. AND GET RID OF THE DAMN MUSIC.

Bearings dont matter at all! That should now after more than 30 years be general knowledge in the community. Watch the video about bearings on the Thisissoul channel and never think or speak about bearings again.

I would have to respectfully disagree on this point. If you roll a cheap set of bearings in a big park it will hinder your ability to naturally launch without trying to toss yourself into the air as well as more easily keep momentum. This is a bit less apparent when big wheeling around town but I can still feel a huge difference in some nice ILQ9 bearings over a cheaper set. This being said I do think the abec rating is meaningless for skaters.

@@ThirtyandRollin What is "cheap"? Too much grease slows bearings down by a bit, but that has nothing to do with the price bc you can get that result even with expensive bearings. Bearings dont matter at all! And that is true on so many levels. ILQ9 bearings are not faster. Faster than what, Wicked 7 or SKF 5? The statement you have made in the video is just not valid, it is pur assumption and influencened by marketing.

@@freshasadaisy4782 You are right about price, it doesn't always matter. And yes different grease and amounts of grease play a huge roll in the way they roll. I have just been on brand new bearings before that felt like I was pushing them through peanut butter and the bearing I have in this video work perfect straight out of the box. They also have a rubber shield which makes it 10x easier to clean. I am sure there are more inexpensive bearings out there that could compete with the ones I have but I don't want to go looking or testing different greases on them to find out if they work as well. I am not trying to sell anything here I am just stating which bearings I have found work best for me.

@@ThirtyandRollin You specifically used the word faster in the video, which suggests that one bearing is faster than another. Please explain in more detail what exactly limits the speed in a "slower" bearing with the exception of lubrication. Bearings dont matter! If one is broken, replace it with a working one and never pay more than $ 1 a piece. I am dead serious with that statement. Craigslist leads you to even better prices from skaters cleaning up their basements. 50 bucks for bearings, are you kidding? Buy your kids more quality food instead throwing money out of the window for marketing bs.

@@freshasadaisy4782 All I know is I have purchased bearings in the $30-40 range before and they have been awful (super slow, lots of friction) straight out of the box. The bearing in this video are amazingly smooth and yes fast (aka almost frictionless) out of the box. There may be some merit to TIS's video for sure but in my experience these work well and that's all I am saying here. I have no dog in this fight, just trying to let people know what I use and enjoy. If you wanna get super inexpensive bearings, go for it! I don't care, this is just what I use and enjoy at this point in time.
