Wyper is still my favorite "single arc" side character. Dude is so cool with his seastone skates, burn dial bazooka, and reject dial. He legit fought evenly with Luffy and technically killed Enel once. Badass! Make a 20-minute Wyper video! Also a big fan of Bellemere and Momonga a lot too. Must be a Mohawk thing! Also shout outs to Rocinante, Shyarly, and Dalton!

@@piegorgioni4931 Such a shame. I always liked the Skypeia Saga. I suppose it suffered from being between two fan favorite Sagas of the series with Alabasta and Water 7/Enies Lobby. While it might not be quite as good as them, it's still better than the East Blue Saga in general, Thriller Bark Saga, Fishman Island Saga and many of the little arcs of great larger Sagas like Little Garden, Whiskey Peak Amazon Lily, Return to Sabaody, Punk Hazard, and such imo. Not that I dislike those, but Skypeia is underrated and the Jaya/Skypeia Saga is actually the one that gives the most unique sense of adventure in the entire series imo. Plus, it was still the last time Robin got a solo fight so far...

DADAN. The feels! She's clearly underapreciated. Kuma, a great mystery element, I love his ambiguity. Ivankov and Bon Clay, just love them. Mister 3 and Buggy are comedy gold in my opinion. The old men on Weatheria and Heracles on Ussop's plant island as well. I also love Franky's crew in Waterseven. Katakuri for obvious reasons. Smoker for the nuance he brings to the Marine, Aokiji as well. Please feel free to discuss! My definition of supporting character is very broad by the way

I'll say it again. I loved his rope skills. I have a huge obsession for very vague and weird techniques and and abilities, and rope abilities fits perfectly for that. One of my favorite stands in part 7 of jojo is a freaking rope and I love it!!!

I thought that Paulie was a devil fruit user for the longest time. I just couldn't believe all the things that he managed to do with them. The fact that he's not a devil fruit user makes the stuff he does much more impressive.

@@cameronclophus7998 Admittedly yeah. Those guys are great too but what I think I like the most is that, unlike the two named before hand and what has been done a lot as a trope, hes not perverted. So when he was introduced seeing him having a wife smoking hot wife and then him basically teaching luffy haki. it was a breath of fresh air more than anything.

When Matt was doing the character list of characters he would have in his own pirate crew he chose Lucci as his shipwright, I personally picked Paulie, could you imagine Paulie with like Haki cladded rope. Plus he has a funny quirk with women so he fits perfectly.

My favorite side character is Gin, and I'm still waiting for when he eventually returns. He had such a good story setup, and I feel like he's one of the only ones left we've never seen again- not even a cover story.

No, the difficult difference is between side-character and background-character. But it's true that Oda has a talent for making a bunch of characters relevant. I guess that a better definition is "temporary main character, which is also an ally".

@@jesseljones4991 nothing yet sorry. But I notice a lot of people ask I just reread the story for a 3rd time while looking for something to read. This time I was following along much better overall. Also seeing through the story a third time York new became my favorite of the arcs and kurapika my favorite main especially in the succession war. I feel because of him and the York new arc lead to the good stuff in the ant arc with contracts and sympathetic villains overall

@@De1tAStreaM yeah especially in the succession war where we get every little detail from each character on something going on. It's good to see togashi go into the detail of abilities but sometimes it's better to just keep it simple. Hisoka in heavens arena first time against the clone guy was a good example of getting the information after the battle to show hisoka was more clever than you think with all the little moves he did after the fight. Little detail I saw second time was hakenberk 9th prince said he studied archery and that hit me like a truck seeing togashi just put i in ealry on pre Nen power. Some like the ant arc can go either way on drag or well paced but I feel York new had the best of both in how kurapika managed to trick the troope into almost fighting themselves and hisoka using future sight to his advantage all came together perfectly

@@ivanbluecool agreed but i still have a bad feeling that the succession ark is going to be lengthy because there is 6 plotlines running parallel (the zodiac traitor, hisoja, kurapicka, Gin, Netero and the kings plan). The year long hitayas doesn't help either. In my sisters opinion HxH would be better as a light novel right now and for the succession and the dark continent. It would put far less strain on the author and we can get a anime adaptation as well. I also agree with this because most chapters already feel like reading through a light novel.

The lesson Oda was going with Buggy and his arc was that people have different interpretations of "treasure". Buggys interpretation is what most pirates think treasure is.

For some reason I really like Cricket from Jaya/Skypiea. His design is really charming to me and his reaction to Luffy’s shadow is really amazing and heartwarming. Theres also the Romance stuff he talks about. Wish we’d get to see a cover story or something relating to him even if its a short one 😔

Buggy was his first fight with another devil fruit user It was about showing Luffy that even though the fruit makes it harder for him to be killed that'll also be the case with other fruit users as well, meaning that he'll need to be observant and crafty if he wants to beat him. Also, it's about establishing that there was a relationship between Buggy and Shanks so that down the line, stuff like Rayleigh talking about Shanks and Buggy being on the same crew as Roger don't come completely out of no where.

Yes, this all began from a quick debate of who would win in a fight Hattori or Hotori. Tekking did not hesitate to say Hattori and I was flabbergasted. Sure Kotori has great strengths, but Hotori with his immeasurable power has a great battle he must conquer. And once that is complete we can knock Kotori out of the park as well. So stand with me, and comment on this and every video to come until his battle is won. #JusticeForHotori

Who is who? Well Gin is who is still a possibility 14:45 xD. Also at 15:53 is that not all people are the same. You have Buggy and your typical pirate like Kid or Peachbeard that goes out and plunder. But also pirates like Luffy or the Sun pirates (Fisher tiger's crew) that are not chaotic evil, that are not in that same mindset and want to chase their dreams. Like Luffy who just wants to be the most free person, so for Fisher tiger who wanted others to be free.

The lesson with Buggy is that there are treasures more valuable than Money and Gemstones. Like a petshop or a town or a straw hat It's mostly a lesson for Nami to learn, and for Buggy to not learn.

One of my favourite side characters (among many others) is definitely Viola. I don't just love her design and abilities, but I think her being able to act as one of Doflamingo's subordinates and work among the people that took everything away from her (her sister, her country, her family and her title) only to protect her family and survive herself is very impressive. At least Nami, who was partially in a similiar position "only" needed to draw maps and had a goal she could actively work for (raising the 100 million Berry), even though it didn't work out in the end. But Viola probably didn't believe that Doflamingo would ever leave this place and couldn't think of anyone strong enough or willing to defeat him.

2 Things: 1. Nojiko wasn’t waiting for a rebellion. She, as well the rest of Cocoyashi village, was waiting for Nami to gather the 100 Million to buy back the village. Also, the scene after Bell Mere’s death, the villager came to the conclusion that escaping the island was impossible because of the Fishmen’s water superiority. 2. The reason why Don Krieg wanted the Baratie for two reasons. One was that he wanted Zeff’s logbook, and the other was that he thought the Baratie looked so goofy and non-threatening, he can surprise attack anybody or anyplace.

I think the best I have for drawing the line between characters is as such: Member of the Straw Hats: A Main Character. Character the Straw Hats have, need to, or want to beat the shit out of: Antagonist Characters that don't have a name or need to be named in an SBS: Background Character Everyone else: Side Character and protagonist of their own story.

My favorite side character is Dracule Mihawk. The man floats round on his tiny logic defying dingy of room that's shaped like a coffin ALONE. He wears a cross that's a necklace, he fights with a cross sword, and his boat has a sword. He slices up ships for getting in his way, lives on a island with dangerous human like monkeys, fought with a yonko, decides to train his future rival for the shits and giggles. He showed up to an island with a yonko, and called him uniteresting. He casually sliced a mountain of ice that's on the complete opposite side off him. This man is a beast

Then you have main character (essential for a story), supporting character (a character who matters in a story, but not a main character), and background character. So for any character, you refer to them as the highest where they fit in the following list: 1. Strawhat 2. Story main character 3. Story supporting character 4. Flashback character 5. Arc main character 6. Arc supporting character 7. Story background character 8. Arc background character

With the east blue I think Morgan was to show them the navy can be pretty corrupt. Buggy shows there will be enemies with devil fruit power. Cat guy shows that not every villain is gonna be dumb and actually be skillful. Kreig shows that there will be enemies with an army behind them and Arlington shows that there will be enemies with beyond human strength. I think that was the east blues lessons in a way.

I have had a really big theory (or fanfiction) that I have been thinking of for a while. It is that once Luffy defeats Blackbeard, Coby will already be either a Vice Admiral for the Marines. He will lead a fleet to Laugh Tale. As Luffy is claiming the title of the King of the Pirates, Coby will lead a sneak attack on Luffy and his crew. I think that while Luffy is celebrating his life goal, Coby will kill him. Coby will become an Admiral of the Marines because of this, and then (after many years and maybe a devil fruit addition) he will become Fleet Admiral. The reason that Oda has a drawing of an adult Luffy is that in the Epilogue to the series, Coby will write a letter to the dead Luffy, in which he reflects on what Luffy's and his own life would have been without each other. He will then, on his own, put a piece of this letter into every cannon on every ship in the entire fleet. He will then have every ship shoot every cannon at the same time to honor his best friend and the person that helped him achieve his dream in life. The cannonballs will all fall into the ocean, creating the shape of a straw hat.

Mr. 2 is the ultimate character. He started as a side character. Became an antagonist later in Alabasta. Became a supporting character when he helped against Hina. And was a protagonist in Impel Down.

Although I love Buggy and Wiper like hell, I do just want to take this time to put Miss Valentine under a much-needed spotlight. She didn't do much in her main arc and from what I know she doesn't really do anything afterwards (I haven't even finished the Water 7 arc so I don't really know for certain), but she has one of the damn coolest (and under-utilised) devil fruits in my opinion. I also felt she also had a pretty sick design. I honestly just wanted to see more of her, so yeah she's one my favourites for that reason

my favorite side characters are probablyyyyyyy Mr 3, Jango, Fullbody, the entirety of cp9, Helmeppo... basically just characters that a large majority of the fandom doesn't really focus on, ie unpopular but not overhated. I got a soft spot for those types of characters

I don't know if this has been asked before but Obscure question- What if a requirement for being warlord of the sea was that Tsuru (purifying laundry grandma) would have to use her devil fruit to cleanse you? Because this could possibly change a lot in the story
