This is my 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder and it’s my favorite car I’ve ever owned. I purchased it from Porsche St. Louis about a year ago, and it has brought me thousands of miles of joy already. Here’s why I love it.
I love all of the Porsche spyders. The 718 is the most powerfull and better looking, the 981 sounds the best, but the 987 is the purest car to drive. Simple Elegant looking drivers car with no gimmicks but with enough power to exploit and have real fun with. As for the roof...its a Spyder not a convertible, and the car looks superb with roof on or off. One of the Best Porsche products in the modern era imo.
I agree! They are all excellent cars. I’m not looking to set record lap times or have the latest greatest thing. I value the pure driving experience and also love the purity and simplicity of the design on the 987. It has been a great car so far! Cheers!
I’ve been spoiled driving an s2000 CR and it’s the longest period of car ownership I’ve ever had. I have yet to find anything remotely close to a pure and raw driving experience the CR offers, but the RU-vid algo must have picked up on it and keeps recommending me boxster spider videos. This seems like the perfect car and I’m in love. Sounds like a mid-engine version of my CR with nearly 100hp more, I am SOLD!
Great spot on review Eli, and wonderful car. We have a couple of things in common-manual wind Omegas & a 2009 987.2 Boxster 6 Spd (143000 kms) owned since new. A keeper! I'm Subscribed
It is a beautiful car, no question. I was going to buy one and found online a car in virtually new condition driven less than 14,000 km. It was expensive (€79,000) but I was ready to buy and flew from Marseille to Frankfurt to check it out. During the test drive it started to rain heavily and in areas where the roof met the body and windows it leaked. After 10 minutes I had enough and returned to the dealer not soaking but wet. I ended up buying a Carrera S, it’s a totally different car but in my opinion a more useable second car. To those that own and love 987 Spyders I salute you for your commitment to owning and living with a “pure” sports car
The Carrera S is a great car and definitely more usable. If I only had one sports car, I’d have to have something more usable. I reserve the Spyder for mostly nice days. Enjoy your Carrera S! Cheers!
Do you need to lower the windows to open the doors when the top is on? It looks like the top is blocking the windows or maybe it's just a visual illusion...thanks.
Hey, Danny! The windows lower automatically a bit when you pull the door handle. This is a pretty common feature now in sports cars. My 911s and Corvettes I’ve owned have done the same thing. Good eye! Cheers
Awesome! You can’t go wrong. I would recommend a good PPI to make sure you’re getting one that has been well looked after. As far as mine goes, it has been 100% problem free so far. I’ve just done routine maintenance. Transmission and engine are both smooth as butter! Cheers!
It’s a manual top, but it’s actually really easy to take on and off. Takes me about a minute and it saves a lot of weight, looks way better, and makes for less chance of mechanical top failure. The top makes the car for me. Cheers.
Have you tried using it with just the top section, leave the rear part off including the screen between the seats - In bad weather or even very hot sun you get protection but have this great connection to the outside. Later Spyders cannot do that which makes the 987.2 extra special!
@@wrefordmiles yes! I usually leave the back part out so I can listen to the engine, especially at this time of year where it’s getting a bit too cold here to go topless.
