I agree but he definitely has drawn influence from Michael Jackson who is arguably the greatest entertainer of all time and 75% of idols look up to his career. Taemin is his own thing for sure but it is never an Insult to be compared to arguably the greatest of all time✨
Taemin has admitted his influence is Michael Jackson and deems himself unworthy of the comparison, saying he has a long way to go before he can be mentioned in the same sentence. He also said that Rain is also an influence of his.
I agree with you about Taemin being able to handle himself in a street dance. You should also include Lay and Ten on that list. Have you ever checked out TVXQ? They are both amazing dancers, but I tend to favor Yunho as the better of the two. Yunho's solo songs are good but "Follow" and his short film video "Thank You" are my favorites. For the original five member TVXQ, you must watch the iconic song "Mirotic". It is one of the most covered Kpop songs, up there with Super Junior's "Sorry,Sorry" and SHINee's "Replay".
I think I remember seeing yunho on a dance performance with Yoona or am I mistaken? But I definitely have TVXQ on my list. I’ve been getting into a lot of new artists lately so I’m trying to make sure I take my time and really soak in the material
when you realize that Taemin literally taught himself to dance & debuted at the age of 14(i believe, i just remember he was very very young) as the MAIN DANCER of an SM group just really adds to the flex factor of being able to put him on the street for a dance battle & he’d walk away victorious like ya said that’s legit 3-4 flexes in one sentence • taught himself to dance • debuted at 14 (again this is what i remember don’t hold me to it just know he was young af) • official position since debut is Main Dancer • is under SM (lemme explain) so, i’ve been listening & in the kpop scene in general for about a whole decade & 1 thing i can clearly tell you is that SM literally has been around since kpop started not only that, they’re the hardest company to get into (i’m sure many others can agree to this) due to how strict they are when it comes to picking idols they’ve been known as “The Standard” because of how influential they’ve been since the 90s AGAIN, REALLY PUTS THE WHOLE THING INTO A NEW PERSPECTIVE, HUH ?? 😂😂😂
2:27 exactly!! like I can never explain how much I both admire and love mj and taemin, it really makes me happy and proud whenever I see taemin go from mj to himself like it’s crazy to see how taemin got inspired by mj and then make his own moves. Just seeing the kpop industry get inspired from taemin now is so so special ❤️
I'm truly sorry that I only react to when you do Taemin's and Shinee's reactions they have gotten me through a difficult time in my life. I was going through a dark period of my life I was a single parent and I was struggling with depression This is when I discover K pop and the 1st K pop group was shinee . I understood what Jonghyun was going through i was at that point. I started watching k dramas and kpop and it some how got my attention that was 9 years ago and I been hooked ever since. Sorry of this information.
I like how you always say that Taemin dances better or just as good as his backup dancers. Well, Taemin is a dancer and that's why. He started out at age 11 as a trainee and at 14 debuted as the main dancer for SHINee and has never looked back. He really showcases the dancers so they have time to shine, especially in live performances. I love that his choreography highlights the dancers as an extension of him. The Japanese dancers are on another level too. They are well known choreographers in their own right. I also appreciate that he critiques fame and celebrity in this particular piece. His critiques of the media and the industry, like in Pretty Boy and Advice, are very cool.. Thank you so much for your awesome, insightful reactions.
Famous has great live performance from his Xtm Arena Tour in 2019. He did it as an encore, cause Famous was a brand new track back then and when the music started playing the audience went absolutely nuts (I’ve been there and it was the best concert I’ve ever experienced along with his TMI concert). This choreography is absolutely magnificent - so intricate and so original and his Japanese dance crew is something else - these people are all crazy good! And they all admire Taemin so much, I remember them talking in his Arena Tour documentary how they respect him so much and are super thrilled to work with him. You should really try and watch his concerts, perhaps you could do a reaction to one of them - in two or three parts, cause they are over 2 hours long…? It would be absolutely amazing to watch such reaction! Thank you for always giving us quality content!
Little fun fact: the one in the blue shirt is Santa. He was in a Chinese Idol survival show last year and got 2nd place, so he is promoting in a group over there! He is immensely talented and this just feels like a very powerful crossover to me :)
@@infinitelocke Yes, Santa is awesome. He is an award winning dancer. Most of Taemin's dancers are recognized in the industry. Taemin encouraged him to become an idol.
Yes thank you!!! Love this dance practice so much, I think even more than the mv because the choreo is just so good cannot be missed. Just a note regarding Taemin's style he said in an interview before that when he is learning a choreo he understands first why the the choreo is like that, why each movement or step is like that. By doing so he is able to really add his own flavor and personalize the movements. Anyway always excited for your Taemin and SHINee reactions.
He’s really one of a kind. And I love how he puts thought into his performances. He once said something along the lines of his goal is to blend in when performing with SHINee, but stand out when performing alone. He knows when to hold back and when to let loose, when to execute a set choreo and when to show his own unique style. Famous was a stunning piece!
We always love and appreciate how hard Taem's dancers go in. Yet we also say the dancers are keeping up with Taemin lol Legit they could put Lee Taemin backup dancer on your resume or any try out AND they know you're kick ass. To be able to keep up with him is insane. Yet again another great reaction. Also there are 2 MVs for "Famous" I don't know if you got confused by us asking for the dance practice lol It's because he goes extra in dance practices tho. That being said there's 1 concept mv and 1 performance mv for Famous. So definitely check it out. Along with live performances of it. 🔥
I definitely got confused. And somebody did tell me somewhere that it was no MV so I just assumed it wasn’t instead of looking for myself like I should have lol😵💫
This dance practice is so intense it blows my mind. Thank you for another awesome taemin video you are doing everything great and I have become your fan. Shouting your name from the roof top everyone subscribe and give a like. Please check out taemins stage performance of black rose featuring rap by kid milli. Taemin was on a show called the call in this show he performed two songs with other idols one called Pinocchio and the other was you are my standard. They are both another side of taemin that you should check out you will love them. Thanks again
Nicknamed "Yeoksolnam/LSMA (Legendary Solo Male Artist)" and "the greatest K-Pop soloist in history" by Korean media Often forgotten to NOT actually be a fellow professional full-time dancer-only himself by head performance directors in the industry Viewed as a golden standard benchmark of idols by all the hottest professional dancers in the game. The majority of back-dancers for K-Pop artists and groups typically consist of all casual up&coming members of dance crews, with occasionally 1-2 top choreographers also performing alongside them as well. However, ever since Taemin's solo debut his back-dancers have always contained like 3-4+ top choreographers on the regular as it feels like a dream or test for themselves to work with him because they can actually go all out for once and feel challenged. This includes numerous of the SWF peeps like you mentioned as well Taemin's not just THE textbook himself, he's the mf mythical sacred scripture That's K-Pop's all-time all-around best dancer and our Performance King for ya Great video as always and also btw love your outfit LOL
Although "Famous" doesn't sound like it on the surface, if you read the English translation of the lyrics, you see it's actually kind of a sad song. Taemin isn't being cocky, he's being sarcastic and maybe a little facetious. The song is about how he has sort of lost his true self and no longer knows who he really is after becoming so famous. He talks about how living in the public eye all the time, he feels like he is always being watched and he can no longer live a normal life, etc. I interpret the ticking movements, for example, to be a representation of the fear and anxiety he feels with the fact that he always has to keep up a public image and the pressure he feels to be perfect. I think in the MV we see him bleeding because it's showing how he is literally putting everything he has into his career, but he feels, metaphorically, like people aren't satisfied unless they see him shed blood, sweat and tears. He feels like he can never live up to the public's expectations of him and that no matter what he does, there is always someone looking to tear him down, etc. Taemin isn't the one bringing the drama, he's talking about the drama being created by others and outside forces that cause drama in his life. (In this case, drama isn't a good thing.) I see the crash test dummies in the MV representing several different things. First, he is no longer just going to sit around like a dummy allowing outside forces to use him as their test dummy to see how far they can push him, etc. I also see it as, he is going to stop allowing those brainless dummies to have a role in his life. In other words, Taemin won't allow those dummies -- i.e. those nameless, faceless people and things that are creating the drama -- to continue to exist in his life and he is setting them on fire to get rid of them and end the drama. All of Taemin's songs have similar themes, he uses his solo work to present a message about his life or society in general. Taemin is really smart, and he is very introspective. When he was younger he often struggled to break out of his shell and really express himself. So as a solo artist he uses his songs, MVs and performances to tell his story and to give a voice to the things he feels are important or something he wants people to understand about him or life in general. That is why Taemin's songs/MVs are often about the duality of a person and how he has struggled most of his life to come to terms with how people think of him vs. the way he sees himself, etc. You often see him tied up because it represents how he is always struggling to break free from something. I see the message in "Famous" as being connected to the themes within his recent Korean album Never Gonna Dance Again, where he talks about being in love with his career, but that doesn't come without sacrifices, such as having to endure the pain of keeping up a public image and the constant pressure he is under as an Idol who is always being scrutinized by the public, etc. If you know SHINee, it's actually not all that surprising that Taemin also raps in "Famous". Because SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group, all the members of SHINee were trained in rap. Hip-hop was the style of music that was really popular in 2008 when they debuted. That is why the members of SHINee are so multi-talented, their rappers are amazing singers and their singers can rap. During most the members' live solo performances, when the featured rapper is unable to perform with them, they will perform the whole song themselves. "Famous" is one of Taemin's Japanese songs. SHINee debuted in 2011 in Japan and Taemin had his solo Japanese debut in 2016. Taemin and SHINee are very famous in Japan and they have just as many songs and albums in Japanese as they do in Korean. They are so famous as Japanese artists that they are considered part of the mainstream Japanese music scene and most Japanese people don't even consider SHINee or Taemin foreign artists. Taemin's Japanese songs, in particular, often have very powerful and deep lyrics, and most of his songs have metaphorical meanings and messages. It's always worth looking up the lyrics to Taemin's songs because you are almost guaranteed that there is a lot more going on with the song than you see on the surface. For example, Taemin is a devout Catholic and you will often see biblical references and imagery in his songs and MVs, and there is almost always a spiritual undertone to everything he does. It's been more than 9 years since SHINee's Japanese debut, that is why all the members of SHINee are fluent in Japanese. Both SHINee and Taemin spend about 50% of their career in Japan promoting and holding concerts. SHINee has 6 Japanese albums and Taemin has at least 3 Japanese albums, plus dozens of Japanese singles, etc. They are so famous as Japanese artist that Japanese interviewers even travel to Korea to interview them. That is why, if you ever watch any of Taemin's or SHINee's Japanese concert performances you will see that the concert is almost entirely in Japanese, including the parts where they interact with the audience and their dancers. They don't even need translators. When Kpop artists hold concerts in Japan most of the time their backup dancers and staff are all Japanese, as well.
That’s the thing-his backup dancers are insanely talented, but when Taemin is there, I can’t look anywhere else. I literally have to force myself to look away from him if someone points out something the backup dancers do. When Taemin is performing, the dancers are beautifully moving scenery to me…I cannot focus on them at all. If they were less talented, then missteps would distract from Taemin and pull the eye. The fact I can’t “see” them is not only a testament to Taemin’s perfection, but is proof of their abilities, in my opinion.
@@infinitelocke Beverley is correct, there is an MV for this song and also another official Performance version MV as well. Both are beautiful. (edit for typo, sorry)
Taemin is one of those truly few artists in the world who broadened my musical vision greatly. One of the great advantages of Taemin is that he is very versatile in everything he does, since he does not stick to a specific musical genre, it makes him even more intriguing whatever he does, because you will never know what he has up his sleeve.. Taemin is not the ult bias, he is the ultimate true artist of this era...
You tell it All once again. Thank you for another amazing reaction . I want to apologize cause I only react to Taemin and SHINee. Forgive me ....after Michael I only wach/hear Taemin and SHINee....Taemin in general . This dance practice is crazy..... His dancing skills are ......unbelievable
Thank you for your wonderful reaction. Please check out his FAMOUS LIVE PERFORMANCE. He is already awesome in this practice, but he is so much better in performing live. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yL7Sh4REC5k.html
Yay! You did it! Gotta watch the MV now. Its so good! Thanks for considering my suggestion. He's amazing. Black Rose performance next?.. its so beautiful I swear it should be hung in an art exhibit. Yay. Thx. Lol.
Noze and ugh, I forgot blondie's name, but both of the from SWF have danced for Taemin and Key. His Japanese crew and his girl crew are uhmazing. Rikimaru's choreo for this is fabulous! Next up, watch the DP for Move (Sugawara Koharu) and theDP for Replay (Nakasone Rino).
Exactly. The first half of his career was already mind blowing, the 2nd half of his career when he comes back is going to leave us gobsmacked! His moves are mesmerising. Everything about him is. He’s like the vampires in The Twilight Saga movies. Mesmerising and dangerous. Hahaha. I love how he makes dance moves so personal to his own style. Thanks for your reaction. Supporting Taemin and SHINee always.
You should check out the Ten x Taemin X Kai SuperM dance performance. I love it because you can see their individual styles. It is definitely a MUST!!!
Thanks for this! This dance practice was one of the first videos of Taemin that I watched, and I've loved all of his performances ever since. He's truly a unique artist.
This is his Japanese crew. I love both his crews because they are just perfect with Taemin, but his Japanese crew is a cut above. Plus, they are all very close, especially Taemin and Santa.
Taemin competed on Hit the Stage with his choreographer Koharu and performed Goodbye. She said that it was her dream to dance with Taemin 💖 Ten also competed on the show 😆
this is taemin's japanese dance crew, they were handpicked by a professional choreograph named koharu who knows him very well and she said those are some of the best dancers she had ever met and only taemin could be on par with them
JYP has talked about the difference between backup dancers and idols. 'You look like a backup dancer' is a criticism he uses when he's auditioning new talent and you can see it here. The backup dancers are very good, some maybe as good as Taemin, but your eyes go to him. An idol has the ability to connect with the audience and draw them in. Backup dancers are just technically excellent dancers. Backup dancers can learn to become idols, JYP himself started as a backup dancer. Rio, who was chosen in the end for NiziU, was criticized in this way. During the competition for that group she learned from JYP's feedback how to connect with an audience through dance and now she's a star.
Oh okay his logic makes sense. No disrespect to backup dancers but idols have a lot more to focus on since the crowd is usually keying in on their every move definitely
He himself is an absolute art.. just like he said before, yes there are lots of people being his role model and inspire him in his dancing and songs, but above all, the biggest influence to him are his 4 big brothers in SHINee, and we all know how talented and versatile are SHINee's members are, and Taemin, who have been with them from very young age, he observed, learnt, practiced, adapted and we can see how much efforts he puts in from very young age.. and for me personally, since Move onwards, he finally found his own style, and yes bro, that is the originality~ Although we can feel and got MJ vibes, Rain's vibes (Rain is another star from earlier generation in Kpop that also very good in dancing), etc but at the end... his voice, moves, vibes now are all got the 'trademark' and when other people do something similar, we will say, that' is so Taemin~ hahahahaha I feel so proud seeing this him since debut and seeing his growth as an artist- excellent in singing, dancing, performance, choreo etc.. he is now an Idol to the younger Idols, and he is a living legend~
I am loving your journey through kpop!! As you said, you not a dancer but there are some things that’s just logic, physics and if you are a bit wise and open minded, you will know that Taemin is different. Idols traine years to become good at dancing, singing, acting, etc but Let’s not fool ourselves, the majority of the idols would be eaten up by a professional dancer a person that lives from doing dance as their job. Of course that are idols that have a special talent in dancing, but to be called a dancer you have to be Taemin, Kai’s level (I think Taeyoung and Ten are getting there too) I have request for you. Would you kindly react to the videos of Taemin teaching his choreography to Haechan and then to Mark, Jeno and Ten?? Thank you 🥰
Thank you sooo much! And yeah most creative things are related whether it’s sports, music, fashion! It also doesn’t take a genius to see he is special!
When he dances you can clearly see that he literally controls every cell of his body.. his moves are very precise and sharp but doesn't seem robotic because of the fluidity he can create with the music.. Compared to other dancers I can clearly see the difference between their moves and Taemin's moves.. I'm not saying that they are not good dancers.. they are professionals and they are great but Taemin has a "Taemin" thing in his dance that the same move looks different when Taemin performs it and these subtle differences catch my eyes everytime.. makes me admire him even more.. he is a great dancer..a great singer.. and such an adorable person.. a real gem 💎
something that I love about taemin, is even all his achievements and being the idol of idols he is extremely humble. Taemin and all of SHINee are the most respectful towards girls. even when red velvet started All SHINee always supported them and told them that. They ate well that they did not do extreme diets and others. I recommend that you look up the translation of this song. It is very interesting. Bye take care. 😘

I love this dance practice. It allows you to see all the intricate moves the man makes during the routine. It's really sick! I'm hooked on him like many others find themselves.🤗
I think what I love about Taemin the most is that he will be so elated and humbled that he is even compared to Michael Jackson because he is very proud of the fact that Michael has inspired him. And no doubt his dance moves/choreography has a lot of dance moves from Michael, Usher and Chris Brown (the latter two also having MJ inspiration). But just as Michael has inspired the "Taemins" of the world, Taemin himself has become an inspiration to current dancers/idols and I'm sure future performers. That's how legends' legacies are carried forward. Just like the Olympics, the athletes today have become far more superior in their technical capabilities than say 20 years ago, they jump higher, have more twists, triple axles turn in to quadruples . Crazy feats that have evolved from the original moves from the past. Dance techniques will also evolve. The original will always be the original, but as time goes on that legacy will get more amazing and more beautiful and more incredible. Dancers will always continue to inspire dancers. They are all Kings. They are all legends.
6:59 nan that not true the overwhelwing majority of kpop stars are on part with pro dancers some of their choreo can easily being part of world of dance (a dance cometion show) and slay the competition. that not me who say that but actuals pro dancers^^.
I get where you are coming from. And there are a select few idols that could compete with top tier dancers (males and females) but outside of that select few, they aren’t beating street dancers in battles. It’s not a diss on idols because they have to focus on much more than just dance when they perform so it’s only natural that somebody who spends every waking moment focusing on dance would be slightly better
@@infinitelocke nan im not talking about a "select few" main dancer , i'am talking about group as a whole doesnt matter if we talking about bts exo shinee any boy group or girl group in general whatever, as a group they can compete against the best dance crew in the world and win.after all one of them ,mcnd, participated in world of dance and won.and its not me who said that but actual pro dancers in the dance community.
