My thing is that he dances just as good and even cleaner sometimes than the back up dancers but also SINGS LIVE doing it. He did say on one of his Sketchbook interviews that he shares the moves he wants to do with the choreographer and they work together to finalize a choreo performance. Taemin is freak'n amazing!

Unconventional, Strange/Weird, Unique, Original, Creative, etc. Those are my favorite descriptive words to hear about Taemin when it comes to dance which I never really hear people use as much or at all for other K-Pop performers. Taemin seriously doesn't get enough credit for being an actual choreographer himself in terms of contributing personal input/ideas that drastically change and better perfect the final product a lot of the time like with the hand-ties in Criminal for one example. Kasper's (big SM choreographer) original demo dance practice video for 'Advice' (which can be found on RU-vid) generally has all the same moves, but had such a more rough look/vibe to it before Taemin got his hands on it and made it cleaner, smoother, and elegant af. Kasper mentioned a few times in interviews that Taemin's the 1 artist whom he loves to work with most because he feels challenged and inspired to work even harder and get more creative than usual in order to keep up. Many other choreographers like Koharu Sugawara (Sayonara Hitori, Flame of Love, MOVE, Good Evening, etc) and top dance idols (BoA, TVXQ Yunho, etc) have also noted Taemin being a big influence in making them want to work harder and do better as well. One of SM's head performance directors even said one time while working on producing a Taemin concert that he often forgets that Taemin is an actual singer/idol too and not just a typical professional dancer only like the rest of the back dancers LOL K-Pop's one and only Performance King.
Taemin can really dance his heart out, he's probably one of the most fluid dancers I've ever seen. He makes every move look so easy and graceful but it's actually so difficult and precise the way he dances, he's just so talented! I really do appreciate how much you upload, I can't imagine how long you spend editing and filming your videos. We're spoiled with all the uploads here lately, thank you for your hard work and amazing videos!! 🥰
Re: dancing better than his backup dancers - I actually agree. No shade at all to his backup dancers who are genuinely amazing themselves, especially his Japanese backup dancers who are all professional dancers/choreographers. But a lot of times to me it feels like he is legit out-dancing them. Koharu Sugawara (the person who choreographed Move, Sayonara Hitori, and Good Evening among other SHINee/Taemin songs and who is an absolutely brilliant dancer herself) called him a "dancer killer" i.e. someone who impresses dancers. He is so clean and precise with every detail of the dance and his lines are just gorgeous. He is fast and accurate, elegant and very emotive. His body control is just insane and he has his own unique instantly recognizable style. Honestly I find him mesmerizing to watch and can't look away when he dances because I feel like I'll miss something. Thanks so much for reacting to his dance practices. I love watching his dance practices and dance performance videos because I just love watching him dance so much. Can't wait to see what else you react to! Anything SHINee (including solo releases from the members) is just gold!
I can't agree more. I can't take my eyes off him either. And when someone says how well the dancers dance, I'm like, huh? what? what dancers? And I don't think they're not great, no, I just see them as background. I once watched the video ten times to pay attention to the people who danced with him, but each time by the end I caught myself looking at Taemin again. )))
Happens a lot with great dancers lol always feels this way seeing performing, same for yugyeom, ten, shotaro and Kai like dancers are good but their musicality and technique is so good that even the dancers look basic dancing with them

Taemin originally started with mainly only Popping skills when he auditioned for SM, and when he performed the panel judging immediately noticed him not only for his natural skills but the fact that he was dancing in front of the line they were supposed to stand behind to audition. Since then he has grown so much as an artist. Out of SHINee, Key is the fastest at learning choreography and Taemin is the best at making it his own. The fact that all of SHINee can dance alongside the caliber of Taemin just goes to show how amazing they are as performers.
Yeah, at first I thought that was Kohara Sugawara who danced with Taemin in Move and created the choreography for Move, Criminal and Want. Taemin has learned a lot from Michael Jackson and then taken it to new heights. I think he's the best male dancer in Kpop right now.

Just wait until you see Taemin perform during his solo concerts. When he really lets loss, even his backup dancers struggle to keep up. 🙂 Taemin has always been known for saving his energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for him are literally dance practices, so he is just allowing himself to feel the dance and get in the groove. He is less worried about being spot on exact, and more about showing everyone the feel of the choreography and the story behind the dance. Believe it or not, what you just witnessed in these dance practice videos isn't even Taemin at full power. If you really want to see what makes Taemin such a brilliant performer, check out some of his live performances. Taemin live is on a whole other level. That is where Taemin truly shines. You will be even more impressed once you see him perform these songs and dances live. If you watch a lot of his live performances or see him in concert you will see how much of an expert he is. Seeing as he is also singing live almost 100% of the time while performing for 3+ hours, you will notice moments where he conserves his energy, only to release it full out during the most intense parts of the dance or performance. He has became known as the best in the industry for a reason. What makes Taemin so amazing is the fact that he doesn't need to expend every ounce of his energy in the dance practice video, to show us how brillant of a dancer he is. With even 50% effort, Taemin is more magnificent than a lot of dancers when they dance full out. No one can pull off a Taemin dance exactly the way Taemin does it -- it's never as sharp or precise as he does it -- no matter how talented of a dancer they are. As a member of SHINee, Taemin has trained his entire career to build stamina and endurance in order to be able to pull off this type of intense and intricate dancing while singing live and always sounding flawless the whole time. That is what SHINee are known for. Therefore, I think live performances are where Taemin is most magnificent and it's where he is able to show us his truest self. He truely lives for the stage. What we just witnessed was art in its purest form.
It's your singing along for me! What I ADORE about Taemin's dance style is that he plucks out the individual movements that differentiate him the backup dancers and does that version. It's an economy of dance, where no movement is wasted; he expends exactly the right amount of energy to complete the move and saves exactly enough for the next one. It's remarkable to watch. I agree completely that as a choreographer he's a blessing and a curse, but somehow the end result is so spectacular I can't imagine how you couldn't love it as he makes your creation distinctly his own. It's the mark of a good dancer versus an excellent one. The idea that prior to joining SM (which of course meant rigorous training anyway and from a crazy young age) he didn't have formal dance training blows my mind. He absolutely seems like one of those "work hard and you can do anything" types, and it's a benefit to our eyes, ears, and mind.
True! Koharu’s influence on him is very evident in Want, Idea and Criminal (considering that she’s ofc the choreographer on many of his dances too). This is what attracts me to him more than other kpop performers. His uniqueness is his strength and as you said, sometimes unique performers are quite difficult to understand but given his background as a kpop artist (which are mostly considered as “commercialized”), he was able to marry both of those world and create moves that are very “Taemin-like.” You can definitely pick-out his style among other kpop performances.
@@infinitelocke oh she is really GOOD. For me, she’s the only dancer that can actually take my eyes off of Taemin. You should react to their video together in Hit the Stage! They’re so good there. Fyi, many of the unusual movements that Taemin has (and a bit of SHINee w good evening) were choreographed by Koharu Sugawara.
He’s very well known for taking choreography and Taeminizing it. Example, the arm zigzag move during “IDEA” was originally at chest level but Taemin thought it would be more impactful to cover the face with eyes peeking over. As always, he was right!
The reason why Karina was in Taemin's "Want" dance practice is because she is the featured dancer in his MV. Remember the girl dancing in the shadows? That was her. She even performed with Taemin for some of his live performances of "Want," and this was all while she was still just Yoo JiMin, an SM trainee. That is why she's aespa's main dancer. 😊
I love watching dance practices but ESPECIALLY Taemin's. I recommend the Famous dance practice too. It was one of the first I watched that made me realize that he truly is an artist. I could NOT stop re-watching this (and still do). The backup dancers from Japan are amazing too.
You should react to Taemin 'Famous' mv and dance practice (Japanese song). Taemin Japanese dance crew are so LIT, that's why i dont wanna called them backup dancer. They are professional dancers, some are even world champions in dance competition. They want to be dancers for Taemin because of Taemin himself, they adore Taemin and want to dance with him. That's why in his concerts Taemin always gives the stage for the dancers to solo perform, even if it's only for a short time.

Yeah honestly kpop dominates 90% of my playlist now. Only western music I listen to is icons like MJ, usher, Chris brown and like early 2000s music. A lot of current western rap isn’t really my thing at the moment so yeah kpop is in my headphones pretty much all the time!
Another great reaction! Karina is also in the “ Want” video. Taemin prefers to dance in regular ( street clothes) and shoes because they mimic the weight of his costumes. The “ T” pose is the one that connects his stories. You will note that he ends Criminal w/the T, begins Idea with it, and ends Advice with it. Advice is his last song for this particular era When he returns, you’ll probably see a much different TAEMIN.
lots of dancers prefer to dance in baggy outfits, but Taemin always dances in fitted outfits especially in dance practice videos so you can see the details very clear! Taemin's flawless & perfect dance moves are insane
Taemin makes it looks easy which is how you know it’s actually hard as hell 😩. He’s literally so sick for that. How he moves his body is absolute insanity & I love him for that. I have to praise his dancers too like they are on his level. He picks so well. I’m also sure half of the views on the IDEA dance practice are from me lowkey. You gotta watch the criminal dance practice if you haven’t & the danger dance practice & the famous dance practice is also very iconic. Oop & the Black Rose performance/live video. He kills that.
Thank you for another brilliant Taemin reaction! You're right about the charisma of the "idols idol." He is unique. There are many videos out there of other idols describing how Taemin is their inspiration, for some Taemin was the reason they dreamed of becoming an idol in the first place. His dancing is so beautiful, so smooth, so clean, and I really love his isolations and the way he expresses the soul of the song through his movements. That IDEA dance practice, the way his feet move with his shoulders so still, gets me every time. And as others have said, his dancers are an extension of him. In his concerts and often in his choreography, he features his dancers so they have the spotlight at times to show how skilled they really are. Not just anyone gets to dance with Taemin. He has even encouraged some dancers to become idols themselves. Next level. Lee Taemin has transcended kpop as a genre, and I can't wait for you to discover what I mean 💜
With Taemin one never knows exactly what to say. Many dancers are very good at focusing on popular or classic dance styles or choreos with very conventional movements, but with Taemin the opposite happens, even his way of walking is too particular, Taemin supports in the existing musical genres or dance styles and from there, he creates his own, his brand, Taemin's dance with completely unique, different and atypical movements that only Taemin can do... and not every dancer can dance to his rhythm or try his way of dancing, it's very difficult... that's very clear to me on Advice and when the dancers themselves say it... That's why people there classify everything Taemin does as "T-Pop" and it's no joke. No one is kidding when they say that Taemin is more than unique..and it is more than proven.

Yikes! Little late to the party but I simply cannot not make a comment on my man Taemin!!! I know he puts countless hours honing his skills whether it be for dancing or flexing his vocals. He is a perfectionist by nature but he himself has admitted he makes mistakes in the choreography. We just don't recognize it, LOL. The way he moves just never, ever comes across "rehearsed" to me. His ability to emote what he is feeling when he dances gives us an alternate way to experience the music beyond the usual auditory sense. Ahhh, I just love watching Taemin. He seems to be his most natural self when he dances. Taemin just rises above all the noise...a true unicorn indeed.

One of my favorite Taemin dance practice videos is his Japanese song Famous. The MV is fantastic too. And a recommendation for a SHINee song is their Japanese song Can I Get Your Number. The vocals, dancing, and fashion is perfection.
Also not sure if anyone mentioned this but the girl in the Want dance practice is Aespa Karina, this was pre-debut for her. So it was nice that she got to dance with a respectable senior like Taemin ^^ But yes, that's her :D She's also in the MV.
I was MIchael's Huge fan in all my life. When I first saw Taemin around 2017, I was : Oh My God!!! who is this ???????Actually... I really Cannot choose my favorite song . His style is So Unique. He has a great professional ethic, and therefore works a lot in his movements, in every detail he wants to show during the choreography. That's why in each song you can not see the details only seeing once each presentation, you must see it several times to reach each detail. That is why he is also admired by his dancers, because he always puts a lot of effort and dedication into his work.
