I love how they've added some background and perfectly temporally layered the plot between the books! Mrs. Coulter (shudder) is one of the most fascinating characters in fiction and the little bits of background they give her are (chef's kiss) !
It’s always important to have lots of unread books in case of a book emergency. Or some situation where you’re stuck in the house all the time and can’t go shopping. Not that that would ever happen...
@@christy-anne-jones i guess I was living under a rock as I came to know that the movie exists just now and checked the trailer, it's awesome. BTW can any say the song name
the travelling cat chronicles, northern lights (and the rest of the series) and spinning silver are on the top of my tbr for 2021!! 😭 especially the latter because you have also convinced me to get into fairy tales 🥺 happy new year christy!!
There is going to be a show coming out in April on Netflix that combines the Shadow and Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows duology (it’s going to be called Shadow and Bone) They did an announcement teaser in December that was stunning (you’ll see a crow show up in the teaser as well!) Going by the casting they’ve aged up everyone for the television show. 😊
I get the feeling we have an extremely similar taste in books. You've mentioned some of my favourite books and everything else has looked great to me so it's all added to my tbr
I loooved The Travelling Cat Chronicles! Going to check out Sweet Bean Paste and Before the Coffee Gets Cold based on your review so thanks for that!☺️ If you haven’t already read Genki Kawamura’s If Cats Were to Disappear from the Earth, you might like that too.
It will also come to Netflix as a series in April, so even more to look forward to! I'm already so excited, I read Six of Crows two years ago - can't wait! :D The Netflix series is called Shadows and Bones if you are interested :)
The way you held The Priory of the Orange Tree in your hands, you seem to really love it. 😄 Your review makes me want to read it, and when you said it has the best female characterization, I was excited. Yes, Pachinko is a wonderful book and I'm glad I came across it.I believe you've heard that there's going to be a mini series on it by Apple TV.
I read a sample of The Travelling Cat Chronicles and was already in tears, but I immediately borrowed the ebook from my library! Thank you for the recommendation.
I'll put all this books on my list. Hope I can read at least a few. Love your channel, everytime you talk about a book it makes me want to read more. Don't have too much time or money though.
"an absolute dumpster fire" 😂BEST description of 2020. I recently started reading The Magic Toyshop by Angela Carter as per your recommendation, love it! She has such a distinct writing style, amazing 📕
Happy new year :) My favorite reads the year 2020 are Circe, Rebecca, the traveling cat chronicles and the starless sea. Your reading taste is very similar to mine, I have so many books you mentioned at home and cannot wait to read them all :)
So happy to see Before the Coffee Gets Cold and The Name of the Wind! I really need to read The Priory of the Orange Tree ✨ great video, love your channel and you’re so pretty! 🦖
I loved Pachinko too, and I really want to read Girl, Woman, Other this year. I made a video about the books I loved in 2020 here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZlcPwA4SrwI.html You're always such an inspiration for my reading 💛
I just came across your channel and instantly subscribed! I loved all the books but I'll definitely be reading sweet bean paste, his dark materials and pachinko. Also, I love your voice it's so soothing to listen to! 🥰
happy New Year! I look forward to working with you again this year. I wanted to make this video a year when I wanted to focus on reading. Thank you very much.
Hi, Christy! I just discovered you channel thanks to this video and I loved it! I've been watching a lot of 2020 favs videos recently and yours was the most unique one! I added lots of your recommendations to my TBR! Excited to watch your other videos now ♥
I normally don’t watch book videos in English because it’s not my native language and it’s a bit hard to find the English books due to their cost. But you tell the plots amazingly I enjoyed so much.
I just wrote down all of your recommendations into my: to read list, I just wish every day had at least 36 hours so I could read them all 😃 Thank you so much and cant wait for more videos.
Adding another million to my must read books. I love how you tell the story of each book! I'm happy i discovered your channel (came here from Cari's channel). Kinda wish you can list the books you mentioned in the description. Or i can find it in your other platforms? Thank you anyway! 🥰
Wow, I watch a lot of these types of videos and I have never wanted to read every book. I have already read Educated and I loved it too. You would probably also love The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, if you haven’t read it already.
How did I JUST come across your channel?! I love your content, your taste in books, your personality, your social media aesthetic, and overall vibe! I've been missing out 😭😭😭
I love some of the Kikki K notebooks because the paper is quite thick and my pen doesn't bleed through! Otherwise, generally I use cheap $5-10 hardback, A5 notebooks. I always pick brown or black 😊
Thank you so much for the lovely recommendations - accidentally stumbled on your channel and really enjoyed them! Have ordered the two Japanese books you mentioned (you may like The Convenience Store Woman as well!), plus Priory, which I've been avoiding due to some online reviews. Incidentally, if you are into fantasy and strong female characters, there is really no one better than Sarah J Mass for me. LOVED Crescent City, even liked Court of Silver Flames (given Nesta, main character, is REALLY difficult, but this book is her 'scratch under the surface and see everyone is complicated'). Wonderful, compelling stuff. Thank you again!
❄My top 5 favorite books of this year are : 🌟Keeper of The Lost Cities 💖 🌟 Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson 💖 🌟Seeking Persephone by Sarah M. Eden 💖 🌟The House in the Cerulean Sea 💖 🌟I love you so Mochi by Sarah Kuhn 💖
I've been reading educated after hearing your reccomendations and I am really enjoying it, but wow the amount of injuries and accidents that happen around them for people who don't want to use hospitals they risk so much. I'm so far going into her second year of school and im just amazed how far she has come. I think its going to be a fave 🌟
Just found this video and blown away by the book recommendations! So, well done and now have a list of books to try. Thank you so much. Have subscribed. Best wishes from England. Lottie x
Happy new year Christy! Lovely reads thanks for sharing ^^ by the way there’s a second book of before the coffee gets cold it’s called Tales from the café! I’m sure is cozy as the first one :) Greetings from México. Take care!
I really liked The girl on the train(Paula Hawkins) and Gone Girl(I think Gillian Flynn). They have around 400 pages but they are pretty easy to read. Also The immortalists by Chloe K Benjamin
Good evening my lovely friend and my lovely bloger ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I always watch your videos and I happened this ☺️☺️☺️☺️ I'm Uzbek girl and I don't understand English language, maybe I have many mistakes 🙈 but now I am learning English language Thank you very very much 🌺🌺🌺🌺 I love you 🌟🌟🌟
i put three books on my TBR list. Before the coffee gets cold, Sweet bean paste, and Northern lights. (btw do you know where i can find the book Northern Lights i checked on Amazon and couldn't find it, please and thank you :D)
Neverwhere is my favorite book of Neil Gaiman until now. And I think you really should listen to the audiodrama with James Mcavoy and Natalie Dormer. It is amazing!
