I LOVE biblical fiction! The cities of refuge series blew me away. The matk of the lion series taught me so much about what being a true Christ follower means. Everything Tessa Afshar writes is amazing, especially Daughter of Rome. I need to get caught up on Mesu Andrew's books, she's spectacular!
Please say a prayer for my mom’s 86 year old cousin, Christian author, Julie Walters of South Bend, Indiana. She’s not doing too well. She’s had falls and we ask for God to have mercy and guide her gently to His home. Her brother, Scott Hopper is fighting a battle with cancer so, he needs prayer, too. Julie’s husband, Clem is still living and is her rock and could always use our prayers, too! Thank you, God Bless! 😇
I have from Jaime Jo Wright : The HOuse on Foster Hill. I also have Mesu Andrews books( On FIre and Lions, By the waters of Babylon), Tessa Afshar(Pearl in the Sand, In the fields of Grace) , Connelyn Cossette ( Light on the Hill, Shelter of the Most High, etc) and many other Christian authors
Thanks so much. I’ve been trying to get into other genres and your list has definitely helped. Can’t wait to get into them. Have you read Wendy Alec’s the Chronicles of the Brothers? Curious to know your thoughts on that and on her as an author. Thanks
Enjoyed watching this video of yours. Since this is an older video, would you say your choices are the same? Or would you add any authors? If so, there's a video idea for you. 🤓
I think some of them are the same but I have read some new books since then that would make it on my list! I’m definitely hoping to film an updated video sometime this year! ☺️ Thanks so much for watching!
@@miriamelizabethreads Yay. Looking forward to it. I've shied away from biblical fiction (not sure why) but read my first one recently. It was a Jill Eileen Smith from Noah's wife's perspective. It was SO interesting! I look forward to your videos!
Yay! I just found your channel and I think you have sort of the same reading taste as me. I just got back into reading books but the only type of books I want to read are books with christian elements like biblical fiction and non-fiction. I can't stand reading secular books where the characters curse and do all types of unnecessary things. Thank you for all the recommendations! I'm defiantly going to keep watching your videos. God bless you😊
CONGRATS ON 100 SUBSCRIBERS SISTER! 😀🥳🎉 I want to read more of Francine Rivers. I finally have the whole Mark of the Lion trilogy on my shelves and can't wait to get to them this year. I love your story in relation to reading her books as you were growing up. That is so special! I have not read a biblical fiction before but want to get into some! I have heard of Rosanna M. White and will definitely be checking into her books. I have not heard of Mesu Andrews, will check her out too! Thank you for sharing these authors!
I just found your channel via Katie's video about Christian booktubers. I've been looking for fellow Christians here on booktube so I'm excited to of found your channel! I really like Jamie Jo Write. I haven't read a ton of her stuff but what I have read is amazing! I ADORE the mark of the lion series. I have the same copies! I've been wanting to do a reread of them this year. The kind of Christian books I read tend to be biblical fiction, mystery/thrillers and spiritual warfare type books. I agree with you that there is a lot of recycled content in the genera. I definitely need to check out some of the authors you have mentioned.
Oh my gosh I found Tracy Higley earlier this year and I've never seen ANYONE else talk about her books! I started with So Shines The Night (loved it) and recently read Palace of Darkness! I have Garden of Madness to read soon :)
I so love this review & was drawn to it because Christian fiction is my favorite genre as well! Francine Rivers & that trilogy is also one of my favorites! You have given me some new authors to read!! Thank you!
Great video Miriam! I will definitely check out Connlylin Cossestte! I enjoy the biblical retellings that are relatable, believable and ground in the word of God. I’m looking forward to reading these! I will definitely keep you posted. Love your channel! And I’m glad we have similar reading tastes. 🤩🙌🏾
Hi Miriam! I’m new to your channel, and I really enjoyed this video! My wife and I both count Francine Rivers among our favourite authors of all time, but I was less familiar with the other authors you mentioned! Excited to have some new authors to try!
Oh my, you have just added so many books to my tbr! Thank you! I just finished "The House of Foster Hill" by Jamie Jo Wright. Excellent! I will be picking up more by her as well.
I’ve been so intrigued with biblical fiction but I’ve honestly been hesitant to read any because I’m always scared that it will take away or try to add to the Bible. I’ve had my eye on Pharaohs Daughter. I think I’m just gonna have to try it out because I keep hearing so many good things lol
I completely understand what you mean! What I personally love about Biblical fiction is it brings these characters to life. I appreciate Mesu Andrews, Tessa Afshar, and Connilyn Cossette as Biblical fiction authors because they're very clear in emphasizing that it's a fictional story set with the backdrop of Biblical events.
This is really the only genre I read(long story hahahah) , but 100% get it ,and why I get into slumps so bad lol! I’m not a history buff but I’ve wanted to try biblical history! I feel like it would make these “characters “ so much more real!! Enjoyed your video!!!!
Thank you so much for watching!! I get into slumps when I read a lot of the same genre/subgenre so I like to read a variety! But I've been seeing a lot more now within Christian Fiction there is a much bigger variety and even within subgenres like historical fiction where you see a lot of the same tropes / themes / settings etc, there are some hidden gems! I really do love Biblical fiction because when I read the Bible I sometimes struggle to feel like the characters were once real people who experienced the same day-to-day struggles, worries, joys, etc. With Biblical fiction I feel like the characters are so much more personable and relatable!
So shines the night sounds great. I've just gotten into Francine rivers within the last year, and she does a beautiful job bringing out the importance of faith and being strong in the Lord. I have the lineage of grace, and I also have the mark of the lion series.
I just found your channel through Katie at paper packs and ponytails. Loved your video so many good books I want to try😁 I also loved your classics collection! I’m trying to collect more also💕
I love Mesu Andrews so much, she's also probably my favorite Christian author. I still haven't read those books yet by her, but I hope to get to them soon. Have you read Love Amid the Ashes? That's my favorite so far. We definitely need to buddy read her new book together.
@@miriamelizabethreads definitely worth a reread! Have you ever read the Noah series by Chaffey & Adams? The first book is called “Noah Man of Destiny”. They are a fun read. I don’t know if too many books based on Noah’s timeline.
@@chaneyhobson7959 I haven't heard of it before! I've noticed there aren't many books out there about him! I wish there were fictional reimaginings for every Biblical story/event!!
@@miriamelizabethreads I really enjoyed them.😁 I do too! Hard to find ones that are well written and are true to who the people really were according to the Bible.
