The 2nd plant you showed is a queen of the night cactus. I have one just like it. It has beautiful flowers.

I had multiple of the thanksgiving cactus that all struggled except one. The one went wild in its spot and looks like a fountain.. the others sadly all went away. I would eventually like to find one of the variegated like ferns. I may have to look closer at dischidia varieties. Thanks for bringing a spotlight to these, they do not seem to get much of the spotlight.

Here is some additional unsolicited rhipsalis information (coming from a fellow rhipsalis lover): In addition to being epiphytes, many jungle cacti are also lithophytes, meaning they grow on (epilithic lithophytes) or in between rocks (endolithic lithophytes). Another cool thing about jungle cacti is that they do not have leaves. Instead, they have phylloclade's, which are stem like structures on a plant that can also photosynthesize. Since most rhipsalis grow under a forest canopy in their natural habitat where the leaves of trees deflect most of the rainwater, rhipsalis have adapted mechanisms to help limit water loss and overcome drought. Some of these include shiny "leaves" (formed by a wax-like cuticle that prevents water loss) and glaucus stems (used to store water in periods of drought).

I hope if you can do a video on everything about the semi-hydroponic that used for your plants... the fertilizer and maintenance to keep healthy roots... I need your experience to begin this method for my plants

my dischidia million hearts flowers every year, and because the flower buds don’t bloom at once, in fact it’s flowering like all year round with nearly no stop😅 that’s pretty annoying actually. It doesn’t smell good, and it has many nectar even after it fades. I have to constantly clean up my table underneath it every day because of non-stop falling fading flowers 😅

Million hearts looks so beautiful - but sorry about the smell 😆 I feel the same about some of my hoya but so far nothing has been that bad... though I'm dreading the smell if my Hoya villosa ever flowers cause I hear it is BAD!

I have all three varieties. Both the Thanksgiving & Christmas cactus are schlumbergera (pronounced shlum-ber-gee-ra) and the Easter cactus is a rhipsalidopsis. I also have a variegated Thanksgiving one in a south window & it has totally reverted to green 😞

You deserve a gold star for including the pronunciation, thank you 😆 You know when you know a plant name, but somehow you can name every other genus that the one you want? That was me this video... Sorry to hear it reverted! The variegated version looks so beautiful but I can settle for growing out the green form into one of those massive heirloom plants I see on Marketplace

Hi Francesca, thanks for showing us your jungle cactus & discidia plants. Too bad about the thrips, but glad you managed to get on top of them. I particularly love the ric rac cactus and recently ordered some cuttings which are rooting nicely. I can’t wait until my pot of cuttings looks like your amazing plant. Thanks again for sharing.

This is the second time I had thrips, and they always swarm to my thaumatophyllum spruceanum - sometimes have to sacrifice one plant for the good of the many - been about a week since I filmed this video and no thrips in sight!

The jungle cacti you showed is a pseudo rhipsalis rambulosa. Spelling forgiveness please

Thanks! Definitely one I considered, I can see the similarities - plant was mislabelled but glad I still got a cute plant!
