These woman are all so talented. But Floor Jansen......Well she is from another planet. She can sing really everything. Growling, Classic, Metal/Rock, Poppie.

Honestly when I first heard people talking about Floor Jansen, I didn't think much of it, and even my one manager at work said people refer to having what's known as a Floorgasm when they listen to her sing. When I listened to her for the first time...she's the embodiment of a music goddess. Some videos out there where they compared her against talentless pop stars singing covers of the same song and these poppies fall flat at their limits, Floor just takes it to another level.

I read somewhere that other singers sing what they can.... Floor sings what she wants.

I can't thank this video post enough for introducing me to the Brilliance of Nightwish and Floor....OMG. this woman...you even warned us "fuckin prepare yourself"....I wasn't prepared. I can't stop listening to her. A true goddess.

Nice to see Brittney Slayes get some shine. We Canadians are really proud of her and the band.

Tatiana is my all time favorite. I also really like Cammie Gilbert - Oceans of Slumber. She has a beautiful voice. One that I recently discovered is Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara. I heard the song Weatherman but It's not metal. Its more or less hard rock but she has a very nice harsh tone and rasp that sounds really cool to me. I think she could sing metal very effectively if she ever chose to.

I love so many of the other singers on this list (arch enemy is my favorite band) but Floor is just otherworldly. I've been lucky enough to see Nightwish live with her and it will absolutely bring you to tears. She's a once in a lifetime talent

Floor Jansen.. That was a live performance and her first name tells you all about where my jaw drop the first time I ear her voice.

I'm a 68 year hard rock / metal lover ( I still play it, keeps me young) In 2011 I watched a documentary series called " metal evolution" And one of the sub genres was power metal and and it was for me the first time i'd heard Nightwish with Tarja , then skip to 2020. i'm locked down and for the first time I heard "ghost love score" live Buenos Aires and Wacken Open air , with Floor Jansen, I was brought to tears.

Tatiana and Floor are beasts, my two favorite.

This is amazing! I would've probably added Sharon den Adel (from Within Temptation) somewhere in this video. But I'm glad I discovered some new ones, I'm definitely putting them on my playlist!

Tatiana Schmailyuk, from Jinjer. Insane vocal ranges and beautiful melodies. Hands down, the best female vocalist nowadays, in my opinion.

I was listening to Ghost Love Score earlier this year when my 7 year old daughter came in and took the headphones from me to have a listen. She demanded I start it from the beginning and she was literally quivering listening to this. Completely enthralled by the raw power and majesty of this performance.

Hell FUCKING yes! Floor Jansen sends chills up my spine every time!! Love her!!

oooo, nice visual effect on Tati's last scream. Basically how my brain felt when I first heard it. She melted my face off in the best way possible. I love Tatiana and think she's the best vocalist in metal now. But it's so refreshing to find a dope ass band nowadays where all members are experts in their craft.

Really, all of Nightwish's female vocalists (and Marco when he sings!) are great, each in their own way. But Floor is absolutely my favorite of the lot. She's every bit as amazing live as she is in on the pre-recorded album, too! I'm so glad you included Britney Slayes from Unleash the Archers on here. She's amazing, and I don't think she gets as much recognition as she deserves. Suggested additions: Kobra Paige (Kobra and the Lotus), Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy's singer before Alissa came in from The Agonist), Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast)

I love how every other comment, almost every, mentions floor jansen.. since I heard her voice she has stolen the #1 spot for my favorite and will never be replaced. No female vocalist like her. She's a masterpiece in every way

I would've put Lzzy Hale and Maria Brink into the official list, personally, but that's just my opinion on the list. That is one hell of a line-up no matter what order any of it goes. These are all some amazingly talented performers.

Just wanna say I loved Nightwish back in the day, but kinda fell off with Anette. But Floor is amazing! Side note, I was shocked when I saw that Jinjer was using the same vocalist for the rough vocals. I'd only heard them in passing before. But it was like a switch when she changed from normal to rough. Excellent.

I am so happy someone finally put Unleash the Archers on one of these lists. I know they are a newer player in the metal scene, but they are absolutely incredible, and Brittany Hayes' voice is absolutely perfect for their sound.

Canada is well represented by Alyssa and Brittney -but all hail Floor - the mighty Norse Valkyrie - damn that is a pretty impressive list and it is only the tip of the Iceberg - there is a lot of impressive ladies of metal that aren't on that list. I would add Lee Aaron to the Canadian squad! Peace!

Nice selection, you have good taste, and yes, Floor has the most amazing voice I have ever heard, multi talented, powerful and diverse, she could sing anything she wanted, really well, we should be thankful she chose metal! 😎

All VERY great, but Floor is on another level. Nightwish has been blessed to have two of the top 5 or so female leads of all time. Brittney should be higher IMHO though. Hard to nail this down to just 10. Old school, but I'd put Doro Pesch, Otep Shamaya, Cristina, Kobra Paige, etc on this list, but the list has to have an ending somewhere.

It’s interesting that pretty much all of these phenomenal singers come from three places: Scandinavia (including Finland), the Netherlands, and Canada, even if you include some other greats like Sharon Den Adel, Cristina Scabia, Cobra and the Lotus, Delain, and Annette, every one except Cristina are from those three places.

Tatiana Shmaylyuk is continuing screams Sandra Nasić (Guano Apes) and Tatiana is aparently a fan of the band, so a special mention to Sandra, because she is IMO one of the few good NuMetal singer

Gotta give Lzzy Hale and Maria Brink some love. I have been a Nightwish fan since 2008 and thought it was all over after Tarja left. Annette was good and in my opinion fronted their best album. After watching Floor in Wacken I knew every other female metal singer was playing for second place. All of these ladies are talented but Floor Jansen can go out on stage and do things that others can’t do in a studio.

Love seeing two Canadians on here, both very deserved. Being old school myself, though, I'd have loved to see Doro on a list like this.

Honestly I preferred Tarja with Nightwish over Floor but I am somewhat bias cuz I've been listening to them since the early 2000's so I got quite used to Tarja but man Floor has got some great range I'll give her that. Love me some Arch Enemy with Alissa or formerly Angela. Both can equally do the job as lead singer in that band. :)

Floor is always demanding! So versatile and her singing technique is out of this world...

In Japan, a lively metal scene has been established in recent years with female bands that are extremely worth listening to, such as LOVEBITES (played Wacken 2018), NEMOPHILA (relatively new) and HANABIE, all with excellent female vocalists. Also highly recommended are BAND-MAID, DOLL§BOXX, BRIDEAR, MARY'S BLOOD and many more.

All of them are amazing. In addition they are so beautiful. Tarja, Floor, Sharon have so special voices, but they are all talented.

Floor is just unreal, passion range and talent, that being said there are just to many amazing singers to have a top 10, they all sing in different styles and different genres, besides you're missing some of the greats, Anneke van Giersbergen, Cristina Scabbia, Lzzy Hale, Sharon den Adel, Angela Gossow, Anette Olzon, Charlotte Wessels and Otep Shamaya, and that's just to name a few there are just to many out of this world talented ladies in metal to have a top 10.

Floor is the undisputed Queen in my opinion. Especially live which is the true test. Lots of singers sound great on the studio track but can’t quite pull it off in person.

I realize that the Dutch dont pronounce 'Floor' the same way as most native English speakers, but when I hear the sheer power in that voice it seems like a particularly apt name. I recall reading an interview with Tarja (back in the Nightwish days) where she said she believed that it would take her at least 6 months of training to move from 'operatic rock' to classical opera but I doubt that the fans of symphonic metal get too hung up on that distinction. Sharon Den Adel and Elize Ryd both have distinctive vocal styles in addition to exceptional stage presence but neither comes close to that sheer power, at least IMO, even if I can only dream of one day seeing all three live. As far as growls go, Otep seems to be the current choice among the hardcore folk out there, but that's a whole other thread. Thanks for the video.
