I just picked up this amp with a Buxom Boost, and it's one of the best amps I've ever played through, and it cleans up REALLY well....which is why I bought it. The PT V2 doesn't clean up at all (IMO). But, a RU-vid channel by the name of "Cragginshred" just did a demo of the PT V2 that sounds absolutely jaw dropping......just an FYI for those wondering which one you prefer. But, I digress.....GREAT video, brother. You nail the "Sister" sound.
Sounds amazing. Do you feel like it lacks a bit of the bite of a Marshall? I’m thinking about getting one but hoping it can really nail all those classic Plexi tones with a strat and Les Paul. I know it’s JTM45 based with a tube rectifier and it has the Friedman sound so I’m wondering if it comes close to those sounds but doesn’t exactly nail them? On it’s own it sounds amazing but I wish I could hear it next to a marshall Plexi. Featuee wise it’s amazing just wanna make sure it can nail those classic Plexi tones. Thanks
Great video! How are you finding the Carey Apprentice? I love that colour. It’s got my Treblemaker treble bleed circuit inside as well so it’s exciting to these guitars out there!
It's astonishing when you realice how much a pedal compress the sound, thnaks to having a really open and wide sounding amp. I own a JJ jr that sounds terrific and this one will be my next amp for sure!
I own the big brother Dirty Shirley 40 watts and this amp is definitely a single channel amp that needs to be played with the guitar volume controls in order to control the gain amounts. If you are not that kind of player that likes to use your volume knob I’d suggest you steer clear of it. Friedman has other killer multi channel amps to choose from.
I was waiting a long time, to hear you playing Plexi stype amp. And maaaan, do you sound super sweat on it. Dave Friedman is a hero of mine. Great guy producing awesome amps.
Thanks so much man! Yeah Dave really understands that modded plexi vibe and managed to make his amps sound unique. They have a really nice feel too. Zero fight, just effortless pleasure. :)
Thanks man, yeah killer amps! If Laboga reaches out to me I’m sure we can arrange something. I’ve tried a Laboga many moons ago and I liked it a lot. 👍
I use the Dirty Shirley Mini as my main amp. But I had to modify it to get a little bit tighter at the low end frequencies... Seems like Dave fixed this with the switch. 👍
@@mertmermerci218 Thanks! I love that cab, it’s one of the nicest sounding ones (including really pricy ones). The only 1x12 that I like more is the Morgan cab next to it. Btw the Palmer is an unloaded cab and I have a Celestion Creamback 75 in there.
You almost had me ready to go and buy this amp. I thought of all the smaller wattage amps, this one could cover a little bit of everything. I love everything it does, but in your opinion, will this clean channel not be good enough to do Country?chickinpickin/Rocka billy styles of music? I am looking for an amp head that will do a lot of what this amp will do, but still get some of that blackfaced clean tone. Any suggestions?
Sounds really good great demo. I still like the soldano slo mini 30.. it's much cleaner and much heavier... merry Christmas kris to you and family hope it is a good one.
Im looking pretty hard at getting this to pair with my swart ast. Will this do allman brothers type stuff pretty well? Is the singing type low gain lead stuff? Thanks great demo.
Hey Chris I've had one for a week now Great amp(finally have an amp w gain) and I normally don't like EL84's so Dave really knows how to make great amps Maybe if I start some serious gigging again I will get the DS40 but this amp checks all the boxes Great cleans if you so choose Loves pedals Great FX loop and several speaker out options Selling my Tone King and not looking back Cheer's Chris Happy Holidays
Great demo Kris. I remember seeing a video years ago of a Friedman Buxom Boost going into a Dirty Shirley and it sounded awesome, instant 80s metal tone 😊👍🏼🤘🏼
Saving for one at the moment. I don't have a cab currently and given the price for the friedman 1x12 it seems like the combo will save me a few hundred dollars. Am I misunderstanding something in thinking this way? Great demo, can't wait to buy one!
Nice demo! Really dig this amp! One minor issue though - demoing anything with a pedal, without a snipped of the tone with the pedal bypassed, is a cardinal sin...
I bought amp and returned it. Really wanted to like this amp, but it just wasn’t my thing. It seems to be voiced a bit dark for my tastes a bit too much low mids that I just couldn’t dial out with the eq. I think this demo does it Justice, this sounds exactly the way I remembered. I also tried the previous version of this amp the dirty Shirley mini and liked it much better, seemed more open in the low mids 🤷🏽♂️
Seems to be working for me but only thing I would complain about is about using 84's instead of a single 34....Dave must have his reasons What kind of guitar do you use ?
@@Bobby_Digital37 Hmmm yeah well haven't given it a good workout yet I don't have any Marshall type circuit amps so trying to get used to the gain So far running it fairly low with bass very low too My main amp I've used for gigging for years is an old 100 watt Fender Tonemaster but my grab and go combo is an old Silvertone 1482 and ANYTHING new I have tried that's not 3K both those amps blow them away Boutique Amp Distributors is assembling the Tone Kings and Friedman's Soldanos and whatnot that are PCB circuits so maybe that's an issue so who knows Getting an old amp and restoring it is probably going to be the. best bet Budget PCB's are going to fall short most ways you cut it IMO
Hi, the EQ settings are on screen. I didn’t use pedals here, just reverb from the OX which also provided the cabinet simulation (2x12 Alnico speaker sim). I was in the lowest gain setting on the amp. The only post processing was a low cut under 100Hz. Cheers!
It’s so odd to me. I grew up on classic rock but always been a fender guy. Played jazz for many years but this amp speaks to me lol the cleans seem pretty darn good. Plus all the other stuff
The Twin Syster is the 2 channel Dirty Shirley. And what is the difference between the Little Syster and the mini Dirty Shirley ?? Is there a sound difference between them?
Technically, the Dirty Shirley is half of the Twin Sister (the Twin Sister is 2 x the Dirty Shirley). The Little Sister is 1/4 of the Twin Sister in that it is a single channel, 20 watt version. That's too much math!
Knowing that you are connected with thomann and having access to a lot of material, I would like to see more alternative videos on how to use a multi-effects through a cheaper active speaker. EytschPi42 made one, but it was all too expensive. We know that life situation is not easy and many people just play as a hobby. For example, does a mooer ge200 sound good with a Behringer B105D active speaker? I think it might be interesting. Take care
Perfect would be a 2 Chanel amp. Lol sister (dirty Shirley) and brown eye... Each with those 3 modes... Dies this exist already? Or at least a 2nd channel using the brown eye Mode in one mode.
I am stunned 🤔 Why on earth would somebody who can't tell a CustomStopTele from a DoorStop care about an amp costing ~ 2 grands 🤣 On the other hand: this amp and the HarleyBenton is like 2 grand ... and it will sound great ... if you add another 1 grand for a decent box Wy wallet doesn't keep up with that ... even blindfolded 😎
@@KrisBarocsi I do guess this "blindfold glitch" will haunt you for a while ... BUT it was great fun for us all and i would have done much worse than you ... Cudos! Next time you grill the strat guy!
Marshall is over. Almost died until Slash brought it back. The originals had that sound. Amazing Allman tone. But the era is over. To assume that Jim Marshall produced the only tone to own is naive. He took Fender and modified it. Friedman took Marshall and modified it.
