To all those who watch this video, I want to thank you all. I didn't expect that after 5 years I'd have 2.2 million views. This was made after my first watching of Top Gun and when my passion for Aircraft began. I hope to do a similar video for Top Gun: Maverick when it comes out!
"I was giving him the bird" "You know the finger" "Yes I know the finger Goose..." "I'm sorry..I hate it when it does that" That's my favorite part of the movie hahaha I use it sometimes 😂
Just finished watching this for the 300th time in my lifetime here on Netflix July 2021 😂🤣👍🏻 but the soundtrack really made this movie how epic it was in 1986.
50 years ago, the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. It’s purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it: TOP GUN

Kaan Sakarya comparing your acrobatic teams and a lucky landing to our elite pilots, every single one of our birds would shit on every aircraft in the turkish airfleet 3x over not an opinion, its obvious to anyone with a brain
Brilliant film...was about 9yr old when this came out.. Must have watched it thousands of times as a kid and a good few as an adult... Good story line great characters fantastic aerial photography brilliant music... Defo in my top 10👌
Marlon Villapando I think Top Gun 2 is going to have stunts as well, because, you know... it’s Tom Cruise, and I remember seeing a news report that said he was learning to fly jets.
Aw no, my favourite moment wasn't in there. "Good morning, Gentlemen, the temperature is 110 degrees!" "HOLY SHIT IT'S VIPER!" "Viper's up here, great! _Oh shit..."_ "Great! He's probably saying 'Holy shit, it's Maverick and Goose'." "Yeah, I'm sure he's saying that..." And honourable mentions are: "The Defense Department regrets to inform you that your sons are dead because they were stupid!" "I'm bringing him closer, Merlin!" "YOU'RE GONNA DO _WHAT?!"_ "Really enjoyed that, Mav, thanks a lot! _Holy shit!_ Maybe I can learn how to be a truck driver... Mav, do you have the number of that truck driving school we saw on TV? Truck Master I think it is... I might need that." And what about the classic: *_"I feel the need! The need for speed!"_*
Well, that'll just about cover the flybyes. Gentleman.. You had a hell of a first day. I had the shot, there was no danger, so I took it. U took it... And broke a major rule of engagement!! Epic scene. Skerritt(Viper)is a great underated character actor.
This is an absolute perfect film. If there is only one possible shortcoming -- it had to end. I am 40 years old and this is in my top 3 films of all time. I have probably seen it 100 times. Movies like this aren't made any more. Hopefully the sequel they are doing isn't complete shit. Maybe it will be decent. Hell, i thought when Stallone announced a new Rambo film (Rambo 4), it was going to be a disaster. It turned out to be awesome.
Yes, just got back from the new film. Loved it and wish I re-watched the original before going. Has plenty of references to the original, but manages to not only deliver the same excitement, but also keeps it fresh for this generation. Worth it on the biggest screen you can get to!
I was stationed in 1993 right across the street from AOCS in Pensacola. I was in naval aircrew and RSS. I always remember those marine DI's at about 0430 barking at you guys before I even showered and walked to the galley. You all had those silver domed helmets aye? I remember doing some flag duty for a short time (taps/colors) with AOCS candidates.
I'm 68 years old and I love movies: I have almost 1000 DVDs, and a buch of VHS tapes. I've seen upwards of 5000 novies, I'd guess, but TOP GUN will always be my favorite. Not the best movie ever made, but, imho, the most entertaining by a hefty margin.
I vaguely recall one of the reviews of the movie back before the interweb - Siskel and Ebert, I think - stating that this was essentially a two hour navy recruiting film, with uniforms designed and tailored by Calvin Klein. Yup - I agree. And I signed up. Never played volleyball. And the standard issue uniforms fit like crap unless you paid an off base tailor to recut them for you. Don't regret it for a second. Can't wait for TG2.
i don't speak english and i watch the french version ! the voices, styles and terms is very differents.....but the movies is always best......! thx for this best moments
I love how Slater drops his head to look over at Goose over his shades when he says “I’ve got a great Polaroid of it.” That look over his shades, you know the character is thinking: “Wait a minute wtf did this guy just say?!?” Such a great little half second moment that the director had the foresight to capture.
wayne gornall Only problem is that neither of those jets have two seats, only one seat for the pilot, who fires the plane’s weapons at his own discretion as opposed to a F-14 having a fire control officer controlling the ordinance.
Well an F-22 pilot did something close to that recently. He flew undetected underneath an Iranian F-4 to inspect their weapons loadout, then came out from under and flew right next to him. Once he got his attention, the F-22 pilot said to him on the radio "You really should go home". Lol the Iranian F-4 was going after an American UAV that was flying close to the Iranian border in Syria.
Were this real life, Tom Cruse's character and his GIBS, (Guy In the Back Seat), would've been SERIOUSLY spoken to by their Boss, and within 15 minutes, frogmarched out the gates of the base, NEVER to fly anything more than a water tanker truck.
Stuart Garfatth Does the back seat guy really have control over it though? I mean if in real life the backseat guy seriously disagreed but the pilot went and did it anyway the backseat guy would be screwed over something he never wanted to do and had no control over
I love it when he says the A4s are just like the enemy migs there faster and more maneuverable which is inaccurate because the F-14 will fly 1500 miles an hour A4 of a fly at 1100 miles an hour that 14 could kick in the afterburners in FlyAway from a A4
I used to really like Top Gun when I was a lot younger but now that I'm older and have my pilot's license, some cringeworthy errors here: 0:29, the F-14 was known for having very tall tail-fins so at that distance in real life they would have collided with the Mig 28 (F-5s were used in the movie). 1:37, if you were in a negative 4G dive then you would be unconscious and there would be a structural failure of the aircraft because there is negative 4 times the force of gravity that is pushing on you and the airplane; the F-14's negative G limits are 2.4 Gs. 4:48, by applying full power that doesn't make the plane slow down, he would have to quickly retard the throttles back to idle to make the plane slow down.
4:59 as great as it looks when he does that Air Brake thingy.. It kinda looks lame now especially when you see those actual Russian fighter Pilots do it as if they just doing a Bike willy routine lol
Z3RO LIN3 The maneuver you are talking about Russian jets doing is called a Pugachev’s Cobra. This maneuver is possible because of thrust vectoring. Although it looks cool, it probably won’t be as useful in a dogfight as a high-G turn, considering how fighter jets these days rely on guided missiles for killing.
Ive lost count how many times ive seen both films . Know them word for word and gone through quite a few dvds lol . Wanted to be a navy pilot but my dad stopped me joining up x
Maverick his the man every man want to be and every woman want So after we agree on that let talk about dog fight and f 14( most beautiful machine ever done!) sO ENJOY THE g
