arr was when ffxiv actually felt like a mmorpg. the game has jsut been copy pasted formula for like 10 years now. Also im not talking about story... fucxk that shit. Im talking it still had remnants of 1.0. Jobs were distinct... Hunts were new, we got 2 new dungeons and 1 hard mode so 3 dugneons per patch and 2 trails(1 new and 1 extreme). The fates had meaning... like Vendor NPC would be kidnapped and odd 1 off fates could be triggered to rescue that vendor back. Yosheep would of never created shit that cool without the inspiration the devs still had from FFXI.1.0. Like sylph tribes dailys were actually challenging and sometimes you had to rely on people in the zone. Bro i quit in stormblood. thats when i really was like this yosheep is jsut copy and pasting the content and people praise his bitch ass all because of the story and his 1 trick pony success story 10 years later(because nothing new and exciting has happened in current XIV) about how he revived a game. The game hasnt felt like a mmorpg since 2.x... that was the best time to play trust me. maybe 3.x HW comes close or can beat it in ways... The real problem and one that your video addresses more is gating content through main story. FFXI did this so much better.. it had story but made you a no name adventurer like everyone else so it was player driven and storys could be done in a variety of order. Making you and evryone around you the main hero is fuckng lame... and creates a problem but the big one is the game is just too long and centered on story like its a single player jrpg. wtf? ffxi was so much better when it came to being a "mmorpg". wasnt just a single player game thats online

The story does take a lot of time. ARR story was mostly boring, and it was repeatedly getting more interesting with each major expansion, shadowbringers and endwalker having some extremely interesting story and plot points being revealed. Stop worrying so much about getting to the end. Good MMORPGs have never been about getting to the end. The MMORPG is a genre about progression, social, and adventure. The way I approached it was enjoy the good parts of the story, skip cutscenes for the bad parts. Typically, post-MSQ patches were slow parts, main MSQ patches had many good parts. As far as copy-paste goes, sounds like you're talking about the generic "oh big bad evil guy, go defeat him and save the world". Which yea, it exists. WoW technically started doing that since Burning Crusade, even if players weren't exactly pushed into it. What is the content going to be if not something along those lines? As far as "you're the hero", yea fair enough. Actually agree with you, "you're the hero" stories are better suited for singleplayer games rather than multiplayer. But at the end of the day, it doesn't make FFXIV bad. As far content being hard or easy. I recall seeing a video or something about that. Apparently the FFXIV team also thinks content has been getting too easy in the general game and not-current patches and wants to make things more challenging. If I recall correctly at least...

@@tylerbreau4544 Yeah yosheep says he wants to bring back stress and core mmo game design back and its just funny that its also a ffxi raid this expansion. Its almost like hes trying to bring back the core FFXI/1.0/2.x fanbase that left because they didnt like his idea of a mmorpg. Too bad its prolly too late too little and most of them went back to ffxi/private servers. But seriously ffxiv has failed me as a mmorpg and i htings dont truly shake up this new expansion... I dont think ill ever touch ffxiv again for ever,

@@tylerbreau4544 also... ffxiv has no prgression, adventure , socialization unless its player made content. gear/hardwork resets every 6 months. The open world is strictly a backdrop for the story, and socialization isnt forced in the slightest... maybe for a high end raid but thats it. Even then the mechanics are re used so you can tell what they are from what icons are showing on the boss/players. also are dungeons still jsut hallways to circle/square arenas. atleast 1.0 wasnt linear and different paths and bosses could be chosen for different rewards encouraging socialzing with th party where to go.
