Most underrated wholesome touch in making this feel like a real team, a real family, was that Y'shtola had apparently - on her own initiative - started imbuing cartridges for Thancred
Good gravy, Elidibus' VA crushed it (as did all of them tbf). Him realising how much he had forgotten over his life was heart-breaking. For a brief moment I genuinely wished there wasn't going to be a Trial and we could solve it another way instead. Felt really bad about having to fight him. And here's hoping we can one day have Ryne reunite with all of us again!
Ah, you didn't show the part where Urianger said he found what he assumed to be Ardbert's crystal, and asked you to give it to Seto. I realized just before he said the words that's what he wanted me to do, and my immediate thoughts were, "Oh this is gonna DESTROY me!" Side note: I'm naming my next dog Seto.
Without going into too much detail. There were 3 Unsundered Ascians, 3 seats of some kind in the convocation that prevented them from becoming sundered like the rest of the world. There are an unknown amount of Sundered Ascians and the process of how that works is something you learn in the Eden raid story line. Also, remember Nabriales, or Igeyorhm? They were Sundered Ascians.
But we do know how many are left We see them all named in post-ARR and by process of elimination based on them being called the Convocation of *Fourteen* with the power of math there would've been five left as of 5.3 The black mask guys are just minions, they don't count like the red masks, which Emet explains get raised to their office by the crystals that Elidibus took with him after the trial Can't say more than that for spoilers
@@kuronaialtani Black mask ascians are elevated Ascians that did not have a seat, only some shards have the potential to be elevated. They most certainly count as Ascians, because they are quite literally Ascians, they even have to be killed the same as the Unsundered Ascians, with powerful blasts of aether, albeit, a lot less than a Unsundered Ascian.
We see in one of the Echo flashbacks earlier where those two members of the Convocation basically tell him "It's good that you work hard, but you're too obsessed. Come and look at this beautiful sky with us!" The male speaker (with the title of Convocation Speaker) is Lahabrea, and it's highly likely that the female speaker is Igeyorhm. You can actually see what soul/memory crystals he grabs after being defeated, and it turns out they were the ones for Lahabrea and Igeyorhm. I've always interpreted the English version as Elidibus coming to the realization that he was so obsessed with properly fulfilling his duties that he inadvertently pushed away his friends and loved ones. In contrast to Emet-Selch, who was so focused on the past that he recreated the entirety of Amaurot (including the ghosts/shades of the citizens), Elidibus thought that memories and the past were useless in achieving his goal. And so it's only at the end, after being defeated, where he realizes that he missed his chances in the past and will never have another opportunity.
"I want to be a cat person just to be her mom!" Rather than Fantasia that, why not just do it? I'm sure there's some great irony in there, somewhere, about a bunny raising a cat.
It's funny how this game makes all the story before it better and better as you play further into the game. When you go back and re-watch things you REALLY start to understand that they plan these things out way in advance.
You were wondering what the song was. It's called "to the edge". Music director Soken wrote that song and worked on the editing.... While in the hospital being treated for cancer.😊 No dedication matches the final fantasy XIV team.
Thank you for ACTUALLY commenting on the music! I have watched so many reaction videos - how could all those streamers NOT react to To The Edge for the first time! The Amaurot theme we'd heard all game, Neath Dark Waters, finally getting lyrics! with an amazing fucking jam, I lost my shit the second the bassline hit. And learning we're Azem, nobody fuckin comments on it, like they're confused! So glad you loved it :)
"Noooo, I don't want to face Ardbert!" I was like, "HAH! You may have Ardbert's body, Elidibus, but you're no hero, let alone are you him. Come on!" Edit: a few seconds later you added in an Obi-Wan "I will do what I must," while in my head Elidibert said, "You will try!"
That trip down memory lane showing literally every important character including the dead ones hits so hard every god damn time. It’s just the memories and then the music, it’s just too much. And then my boy Emet-Selch coming to help us during the WoL fight was arguably the best feelsgoodman moment I’ve had in gaming in general
Hildebrand showed up in this dungeon? Never noticed that. I DID, however, notice an Amaro with the name 'Tupaq Amaro,' which is likely a reference to Tupac Amaru Shakur.
Other normie people: its just a game. Get over it smh/ffs We ff14 players: gets hit hard in the feels with all these emotions and crying But yes i agree! It too, makes me cry from shadowbringers to endwalker.
"He tainted those words" Not really, Elidibus is fighting for his people and you're trying to stop him from reuniting the shards and bringing his family and friends back to their original state, while we as the players are fighting to preserve the people in our shard. Crystal mom divided the worlds because she thought that was the only way to save everyone from turning, so she's basically Arthas'd her own folk ( i can only help you by giving you a swift death ), an absolute genocide which gave life to the shards and all the life that came with it. In the end, what's worse? Erradicating an entire world alongside all it's life or returning everything to what once was meant to be? It only gets harder to pick the current world when you know the cause and the ultimate solution to all of this. Elidibus didn't have to suffer like this and it's crystal mom's and that dumb naive scientist's fault too.
What really got me after I re-watch people playing the 5.3, is the fact that Elidibus is a kid. The whole way you interact with him plus the way his "justice" and "good" is like a kid's. Damn you FeelBringers... PS: I watched the whole video and liked all your reactions, tear to tear.
A quick note: Fandaniel is a sundered Ascian, which there are a handful we know of like Lahabrea and Igeyorhm, who are not 'originals' like Elidibus and Emet. There are also some side-quests that show random Ascians that try and cause a bit of chaos. I encourage you to play the Eden questline and you can learn a bit more about how the whole sundering things works and what it does to an Ascian.
Lahabrea is like Emet and Elidibus. They are all actual ancient people while the others are sundered. If I’m remembering correctly, Lahabrea wasn’t as dangerous because he possessed a lot of people which was very taxing on himself
"I don't know where she's storing those. There's only so much room in that skirt." I'll avoid the obvious joke and just say, "This is why I ALWAYS dress my main and my alts with PANTS, including my female alt."
I'm finally getting the chance to watch this the day after you finished the Endwalker MSQ and it's such a treat to be reminded of how much of these story beats pay off.
5.3 made me cry so hard. Between Elidibus' final words, G'raha and oh god, Seto and Ardbert. I have a dog and a another dog who passed away and hearing Seto say, "If I had only learned to speak sooner, I would have told you how much you meant to me. How much I cared." UGLY CRY
Not sure why YT led me here today, not sure why I decided to watch an "old" ShB run by a streamer I now nothing about, but 5.3 will always remain the best aprt of ff14 for me. Maybe something in the future will top it off, but as of now nothing has. And it certainly is the only moment that ever made me cry so much I had to take a break from a game. And even months later, those scene still bring out tears. If that makes you feel better about tearing up on camera, me, my friends, when we reached that point all had a big huge cry too.
idk why, but am i the only one who thinks Y'shtola purposely held back so that g'raha could go on his first mission with the WoL? Idk why, just the look she gives em it's like 'well go on then, i'm giving you a head start' and I kinda love it.
"the rains have ceased, and we have been blessed with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it" Really hits when you've lost someone in your life. It made me sad to hear
Can’t wait to see your endwalker 6.0 experience! Thank you for sharing your ff14 experience with us Brit! (: I couldn’t hold in my tears 😭 i shall cry with you!
Literally finished 5.3 last night and this story has broken me in ways I didn't think I could be. It's surpassed my favorite expansion of any MMO in Wrath of the Lich King with no contest. I don't think Endwalker will surpass this, though I'll give it a fair chance lol
The thing that made me mad at Fandaniel was how he insulted the poor memory of "Elidibus" oh how much i wanted to kick his butt when he dared insult "Elidibus"!...i really liked Elidibus and seeing how Fandaniel mocked him made me angry!... >:T i was all like, how dare you!... D:
Hi Brit, I loved watching your reaction and can't wait for more. I do have a question for you. What is the top that your character is wearing? I like the look of that top and want to try it out on my character. Thanks.
Elidibus is not the first Warrior of Light. You see a memory of him reaching out to the warrior of light. He used his wish to be like the warrior of light and save the star, thats why he became it.
i'm pretty sure the quick time event for the Seat of Sacrifice was nerfed, because before regardless of your struggle against fate if even one party member was dead before everyone is teleported into the Abyss of the Void, then everyone dies. now even if one of the party is dead they will automatically be alive while inside the quick time event. i'm sure the savage version of this fight has the original mechanic in play however.
I really enjoy your videos, but I beg you to start using RTX voice if you haven't, or another noise gate to block out that clacking from I'm guessing a keyboard from another computer next to you. It's pretty awful when watching the whole video.
Hi Brit. I really like your videos, your personality and your friend-group shenanigans, and try to watch some of your Twitch streams whenever possible. Sadly Europe Time and Brit Time isn't mixing well, so I can't help your view count on Twitch. Just know that your work is appreciated, even if it's on delay.
Me before starting the video : "Ah, the 5.3. i know all about it, i already cry and watch enought FF14 content creators to not cry again ! " 💪😤 8:40 *Answers start* 😭😭😭😭DAMMIT ! That was really a brilliant end of an expac. So many epic and sweet moments....and ofc sad ones, because hey after all we're here to suffer in FF14, right ?! 🤣 Shadowbringer has been quite an outstanding game and it was always a real pleasure to see your VoD of it ! :D Hope you're enjoying EW too (can't wait to see your reactions too ;p ) Also, Cella is a really cute bnuuy ! :'3
