During our apprenticeship as a nurse, we had to place feeding tubes, we call it nasogastric tube, on each other. It was really disgusting. Just 3 of us (we are 27) accepted the NG for nearly 15 to 30 minutes, but the rest of them startet to retch immediatly and some were vomiting. But I think it was a great experience that showed us, what wie do to our klients in hospital.

I began to cry when I saw you begin to cough. I am disabled but thank God that I am nowhere near having any health issues. We are all blessed despite whatever issues we may have. Once I became a paraplegic, I had to learn that it could have been worse. We are truly blessed. I am happy you share your experiences. Keep those videos coming it helps those that are not exposed regularly to "sick" or "disabled" people and helps people accept and embrace us.

Wow, I can’t believe how well you did. Earlier this year I was hospitalized due to a blockage from my Crohns and the ER nurses tried to place one to remove food from my stomach and I gagged so bad and pulled it out and then barfed everything out. Thank Goodness when I did puke the blockage seemed to fix itself. Doctors really weren’t sure what happened since my CT scans showed a blockage but I am considering the ostomy since my flares are continuous. I am 42yo and was diagnosed at 13yo and have been on everything. Nothing helps so I have been living as a shut in for the last 15 years. I don’t work or drive anymore and life kinda sucks. You are so brave to be so open and honest. 💜💜💜

Stumbled on this while watching Frey Life, and I'm impressed that you were able to make this video even though you no longer use an NG tube for feeds. I've only had a tube placed once, because they needed to check for GI bleeding, and it was terrifying and I threw up a lot. It was a large tube because they were just using it to pump my stomach, but they did mention they may have to leave it in place. The nurse was learning and it was really hard for me. Thank you for sharing this for those who need it. Watching this made me less afraid of having it done in the future if it ever needs to be done again.

Maggie, thanks for the demo, luckily I only ever had a NG tube inserted once for about a week post op. I recall it was one of the most uncomfortable procedures I had, give me a chest drain any day. I can only imagine what it was like for you to have to do that every night. I came across your RU-vid channel when I was preparing to have ileostomy surgery, I have found it most informative, I find your vlog inspiring, it has certainly helped my through my journey with Crohn's. P.S. Kudos to Zak, I can clearly see he was a little uncomfortable inserting the tube. Congratulations on your engagement.

You guys are the bravest people I have ever saw and so outspoken and inspiring. I have had my urostomy for 68 years and was hidden from society by and embarrassed family. I grew up with a lot of shame, anger, fear, intimidation, humiliation and the list goes on. Back in the 1950 no one ever would except any of this. I am now 70 years young and still struggling to fit into society. I am alone and thank goodness away from what I thought was a normal family. This is the first time I saw these video's as I do have a computer where I live. You have now given me the courage to finish my book and much needed amazing story to tell. I wish I had some friends like you guys to understand me. I have never done this before and do not trust this u-tube stuff. how does one get to just e-mail?

I was a youth shelter worker some years back. One of our 'wards' have something similar to the lady in this video. The Boy was under 5 years old. I remember crying the first time I put up his shirt revealing a capped tube on his belly. He cries each time I remove the cap to insert the feeding tube. I finally had a nurse look if I'm doing it right. My procedure is correct. The Boy was just traumatized because his Mom 'hits' him if he wouldn't sit still, why he's placed in our care btw. 😭😭😭

I had one in recently (I’m 16), just giving them support and having others that have had one and experienced it really helps. It was the first NG tube I got and it was so uncomfortable that I was walking around crying and saying I was going to pull it out when others have told me to ask them questions about it and it made me feel better that it was going to be ok 💓

This was really hard to watch... my son was born 4 weeks early and had to be tube fed at the beginning of his life because he was too little and weak to drink normally. I never saw the nurses put his feeding tube in because it was too scary for us, so they wouldn't allow us to be there for it. But seeing how much discomfort you were in, and knowing you have done it so many times... I can't help think of my poor baby doing it all alone in the NICU. Sad that anyone has to go through such struggles for something we all take for granted. Hope you're doing well. My baby boy is happy and healthy now 💙

And I just got a flashback to those covid tests I did. Gave me a headache watching this too. You are brave for doing this and I'm so glad you don't have to do a feeding tube anymore.

COVID swab is literally nothing compared to this tube. At all.

The COVID swab is painful. I can’t even imagine how placing the feeding tube must feel. I admire her for doing this.

My husband had Esophageal cancer and could not swallow. His gastric feeding tube placed in his intestines cause severe skin burns. After remission another tube was placed in his stomach. This was so much better for him.

That is a great idea! Yes, the heat does seem to help it form better, and makes it more comfortable too! Nothing like a cold tube from the water you flush through it!

I had to put one in and I am glad they knocked me out and I didn't feel all that discomfort. It was left in for awhile and I didn't have to take it off and have it put back each day. I was x ray to see if it was placed right in my stomach. It was not fun. Not painful but very uncomfortable.

I have had many NG tubes in my life time. But never a feeding tube. I don’t remember the tube going in but remember when it was taken out.
