Just FYI, the city of Bowie, MD is pronounced, BOO E. Also, I know you are tryiing to attend every state fair in the country. The Maryland State Fair starts next Thursday and is held AUGUST 24 - 27 | AUGUST 31 - SEPTEMBER 4 | SEPTEMBER 7 - 10. The Mardi Gras section of SFA is my fav section. The Joker's Jinx is my FAV rollercoaster there. LOVE IT SO MUCH!! It takes off super fast in the beginning and doesn't slow down until the ride is over,
"... like Six Flags Great America, just not as great?" You hit the nail on the head before even entering the park. 😄 Lived in the area for 20 years and most locals avoided it to drive to King's Dominion. SFA has the largest Six Flags park, land wise, but it's like the owners/investors only care to do the bare minimum to populate and run the park with minimal rides. It has loads of potential, given that it exists right on the edge of Washington DC where tourism is huge, but, meh.
Summer of the Carrousel is traveling around in all the proper circles! Congrats, Carpetbagger on all of America's Six Flags- you'll probably be in Canada tomorrow at your pace!
This park started out as a drive-through wildlife Safari in the 1970s, which was not all that successful. In 1982 it was renamed, Wild World as a not so successful amusement park/waterpark. In 1986, they added Wild One coaster originally from Massachusetts. Even with that, the park was not successful all the way up until 1992. Premier Parks bought it in 1992 and begin pouring investments in it. they renamed the park, Adventure, World. In 1998 Premier Parks bought Six Flags and started rebranding their existing parks as Sux Flags parks. In 1999 Adventure World was renamed to Six Flags America.
The Wild One wooden coaster was relocated in 1986 from one of my former regional parks, Paragon Park, in Hull, MA. It debuted there in 1917 as the Giant Coaster, receiving alterations in 1932 and 1963. It closed with Paragon Park in 1985, and was purchased at auction by the then-Wild World park, where it was reassembled as the Wild One.
As a local, I have to say that the not being so great part is correct. It's a small park with bare minimum rides. The newest addition is the FireBird coaster. We go to Six Flags not because it's a great park, but because it's local, it has a water park and gives us something to do. My favorite ride is the Scrambler!! The Flying Carousel is actually my favorite swing. Because the park is smaller, I would say the FrightFest is really great!!! I do believe the block off section is used for FrightFest and that section is completely dark. You didn't show the Wonder Woman swing and the Superman rollercoaster. I hope they are still there. I haven't been in some years.
The area is pronounced "BOOwee" (Bowie). Welcome to Maryland! Wild World and the awesome wild wave was my favorite summer camp day trip as a kid. Hope you'll get to attend the Maryland State Fair in Timonium, Maryland!
I'll be heading down next week to do a few installs and make a delivery of something very cool we have been working on for the last 2 and months! Hope the people and guest goers at Maryland Six Flags enjoy these new additions we have created!
Six Flags sure has improved over the years! May as well hit Kings Dominion and Bush Garden in the South. Your earlier coverage of Kings Dominion is my favorite.
I have noticed that you have visited some Wizard of Oz inspired places. I’d like to see you visit the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota next.
At one point they used to do a Halloween stunt show and monsters would zip line over your head with chainsaws. Crazy they shut down an entire section of the park. There’s 4 rides back there they blocked off so I’d be a pretty pissed customer considering the park is tiny.
Carpetbagger, we have a classic carousel at Lakeside Amusement Park here in Denver, Colorado. The building housing the carousel has a nice art deco design. 'Tis the summer of carousels! 🎠
With the summer of the carousel continuing…I would suggest the one at the Bronx Zoo - it’s all bugs you can ride and you can even ride in a ball of dung being pushed by a dung beetle.
PLEASE READ, EVERYONE!! Just saw your latest vid! Your channel introduced me to every single location I have ever planned to visit. You are an encyclopedia of American attractions! I know you need some time off, so I'm going to run your videos on my TV instead of music/the usual stuff. I'll try my best to go for the rest of August, and give you a chance to take a mental break for views! Everyone who appreciates Jacob's channel and wants to boost him for a bit--post your comments in his feed!!! Let's show him we wanna give him August!!!
Coyote creek has been shut down since august of 2022. probably just because they are being cheap and see it as easier then opening it. In terms of the rides back in there we don't know their fate yet however it is likely that mind eraser does get reopened next year and they simply pretend it did not close or possibly they give it new trains with the vest restraints.
These are very fun videos and I hope you come my way again. I think you will really enjoy Southwick’s Zoo in Mendon MA. They have an awesome carousel and really great animal enclosures. You may even enjoy the Skyfari ride too.
Used to be wild world when I was a kid. And the wrestler big John stud was in the commercials it was mostly a water park with a couple rides and the safari you where talking about
I went as a small child and it was the Wildlife Preserve. You actually drove your car through it and the animals were just roaming free. I remember the John Studd commercial, he lived in the DC area. When it became Adventure World they had a couple of commercials with Cal Ripken.
It's pronounced "Boo-E" .... I grew up in the city next to it (Crofton, MD). I used to be a lifeguard at their Wave Pool when it was called Adventure World.
Hey carpetbagger, the joker ride is actually called spaghetti bowl. It’s the same exact model as that one you filmed at Fiesta Texas. Great videos, thanks for the content !
Its wild that Six Flags would rather dedicate an entire section of a park in Maryland to Mardi Gras rather than keep a historic and long revered local park up and running. RIP Jazzland 🙏
14:28 That is what used to be Whistlestop Park (Which was a Thomas the Tank Engine themed area for the 2010 season), it is now supposedly getting removed for the 2024/2025 season.
Congrats on your achievement! Hillary's ascent of Everest, Admiral Perry's North Pole expedition, and Eddie Burback's visit to all Margaritavilles in the USA all pale in comparison.🤐😛😄
Hi Jacob, Congratulations. I use to go to Six Flags America every summer since the 2000s. I'm gonna be honest with you, this is not the best Six Flags park, its kind of dull and they don't have enough family/flat rides. No dark rides. As always keep up the good work sir.
You saw 2 coasters that were formerly at Great America in Gurnee: Rajun Cajun and Firebird, which used to be known as Iron Wolf and was the 1st stand up roller coaster at the park.
Wild World > Adventure World > Six Flags. This is both the chronology or the park as well as my order of preference... This could also have to do with youthful enthusiasm. :-)
Good morning Jacob 🌞😊 the final lol you visited all of the Six flags, that's awesome. I just saw Jenny Penny video she was at a McDonald's to Feature some Sauce that was advertised lol and she learned to do "Snapchat". Thanks for sharing Jacob you take care. It looks fun.🤓📸👍
What is the name of Jenns page . Somehow I never caught the name of it please Would love to follow her on RU-vid as well ..but Jacob is still one of my TOP 5 I watch daily
I love Baltimore. I went to Baltimore Zoo in 3rd grade (99/00) and Baltimore Aquarium on my birthday in 2007. Loved the dolphin show and I got a dolphin mood necklace and a dolphin stuffie. At the Zoo, I sprained my ankle on some stairs as I was following my classmates down the stairs and that's when I fell 😢. I don't remember seeing most of the animals 😢. I would love to go back to the Zoo and Aquarium sometime after all the violence stops, hopefully. Baltimore is very beautiful.
Went here for the 4th of July and it was horrid.Crowded and confusing with terrible costumer service. Some of the major rides were closed too before the rain moved in and I ended up getting Covid.
Premier Parks purchased the park and then later they purchased Six Flags during the Time-Warner-AOL merger and changed the name of their company to Six Flags and then proceeded to change the name of all of their crappier parks to 'Six Flags' so that the general public would think that Six Flags had purchased them. It only resulted in the diluting of the Six Flags brand. Much the same as when Nations Bank, ranked worst in customer service, purchased Bank of America and then used their name.
Maybe if enough of us contact Kennywood Six Flags and other parks they will update their filming policies. Then next summer can be the summer of the coaster.
Cool! I'm guessing you also went to Magic Mountain in Valencia, California (in LA County)? Isn't Magic Mountain a six flags? Genuine question. I'll have to check your channel for a video because I haven't been there since I was a youngin' and would love to see it. Love your channel so much! Happy travels dear Jacob :)
That one's down to 4 flags...The Western area has been closed all year. Thats where their infamous Mind Eraser SLC is located, plus bumper cars and a rapids ride. Don't know why. Might have something to do with them installing a new waterslide close to there.
😂😂 the first store you go in . I miss those cartoons being little. Awesome the park takes you back to the 1700's ,, a haunt opens up soon in Sept in cornfields can't wait 🎃🤡🧟♂️🌽🌾🩻🪓
