Goliath - inverted coaster. With suspended roller coasters the trains/seats would be able to move around more freely while on inverted coasters they are completely still, attached to the wheel carriage and cannot do that at all - but both are the kinds where "your feet dangle". 😬👍🏼 And, yep, Jacob, you're correct with your memory about the meaning when it comes to Six Flags. ! ~
We live nearby and see plenty of people losing cellphones on the rides as they try to film. They won’t even let you keep a tight fitting ball cap on so a GoPro wouldn’t likely be allowed. We went a few days ago and someone a few rows in front of us was recording the ride on the Rattler and when he lost his grip it luckily missed the people behind him. As you climb to get to the ride you can always see lost items on the roofs of nearby structures. Losing your camera/phone affects you, but if it hits someone in the face or eye, it can cause a lot of different damage.
My biggest criticism for Fiesta Texas for a while was their lack of themeing. Apparently, I wasnt the only one that saw this problem, because about 5 years ago was when they really started upping their themeing game. They completely redid the queue line for Poltergeist and made it way better, the Joker has amazing themeing, Dr. Diabolical as well. They've really started trying to make a much more emersive expirience for everyone.
The theming for the roller coasters isn’t that great now that I think about it, but the theming of the actual park itself is the best I’ve seen out of any six flags I’ve been to so far. The Fiesta theme when you first walk in is beautiful, the 50’s theming in the area where the Batman is is awesome looking, the German looking area is also quite nice, and the board walk is cool as well. Not to mention that the park is surrounded by a beautiful quarry.
I prefer the old six flags fiesta Texas because the theme for fiesta Texas is well I guess was Warner bros and justice league therefore the Scooby doo ride was just fine there was no need to remove it along with all the other rides they removed to make room for the stupid justice league rides it’s seriously upsetting 🙄😠😠
Excluding the native Texans. Texas was first "discovered" by Spain. Then the French went down the Mississippi river and headed west and "re-discovered" Texas. From then, the Spanish that stayed turned into the Mexicans, and they took over Texas. Then technically Texas became its own country called the Republic of Texas, but that didn't last, and it became part of the USA. Then they went with the confederates and then lost, and it was back to the USA. The six flags.... Spain, France, Mexico, Confederate, USA, Texas flag. They got rid of it all because of the Confederate flag, but they should have just swapped it for the Republic of Texas flag. Problem solved.
My mother and I were there in the 90s and there were music in all the sections. There weren't loony tunes characters. Germany was represented because there was Germans living in an area of San Antonio that has beautiful late 19th century mansions. Mariachi bands playing and a 50s themed section. It was fun back then.
I worked there as a teenager when it first opened. Hot doesn’t even begin to describe it! I worked in the German area and we had to wear lederhosen costumes. Fantastic memories of those days!
The Six Flags were the six that governed Texas (Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, The United States of America, & The Confederate States of America) founded in 1957 and began building in 1960.
I love carousels, especially if they have different animals for me to ride 🙂 But I like to ride on the animals that move up and down as the carousel turns, because the up and down motion makes the ride more fun for me 😊
I live about a mile away from the park and moved there when it was still owned by the working quarry across IH10. The parcel where the park sits was sold to USAA and an upscale mall was to be built except the economy tanked. Fiesta Texas was opened with the emphasis on music and each area had themes with musical/dancing venues. We were season pass holders for years but the themed areas declined as did the musical shows.
Great video Jacob. It may interest you to know that the coaster you talked about at the beginning - Goliath - is one of the few attractions that was saved from the abandoned Six Flags New Orleans after that park flooded. It was called Batman the Ride before it was relocated to Fiesta Texas. Definitely a bucket list park for me!
I honestly had no clue, that they rescued any of the big rides from New Orleans. I assumed the water wouldve just totaled out the ride, entirely. Thanks for this info!
@@Sparty-pi3jq From what I had heard years ago, there were only two roller coasters from Six Flags New Orleans that were rescued. One was this that became Goliath and the other was a family ride that is now themed to the Road Runner from Looney Tunes, and it is located in Six Flags Magic Mountain.
4:21 Daffy is sassy 5:35 they call it the Boomerang at Six Flags Darien Lake too but it's blue and yellow not red and green. The six Flags represent Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, US and Confederate States of America. All six have governed Texas at some point in time. (Source Six Flags Wikipedia page)
The pool ball themed ride looks fun too 🙂 Is it like a teacup ride, where there's a wheel in the middle that you can use to spin around, or gently swivel side to side, like I like to do, as you ride in your ball? 🙂🎱
someone may have told you, but both Great White and Goliath are "B&M Batman" coasters. . but they aren't the same, they are mirrors. Goliath drops to the right, and Great White drops to the left. So they are the same layout, but mirrored :)
and interesting tidbit (told to me by Park President Jeffrey Siebert) .that Boomerang - which they just repainted and refurbed - is the most ridden Boomerang in the Six Flags Chain. 100% due to the location at the end of the main entrance to the park :)
shame you missed Pirates. .just bad timing, it was just closed that weekend as they changed out some Bump doors and did annual refurb.. it's already back open.
To answer your question about the German themed area, Central and Southern Texas was settled by many German and Czech immigrants before, during, and after the Texas revolution. If you look very closely you can find hints that prove that
Jacob, I am loving the summer of carousels! Also, thank you so much for my Cameo birthday message. Wishing you safe travels on that long, lonesome highway.
Thank you for posting! I have been on vacation stuck at home with a sprained ankle. I want so badly to be able to go outside, travel, see amusement parks and ride some rides. But I'm all cooped up I'm my apartment cause my ankle is still healing. Summer vacation actually ruined. Thanks for sharing your travels with us so consistently. Makes my day every time.
I wish Over Texas would put in at least a fraction of the effort and investment that Fiesta Texas does. They've been slacking for over two decades and it shows.
2:54 Republic of Texas flag was forgotten for the Six Flags logo. Texas was actually their own country from 1836 to 1845, then became part of the United States afterwards.
San Antonio resident here, the "Six Flags" that have flown over Texas are: Spain, Mexico, France, Republic of Texas (now the Texas state flag), Confederacy, and the US flag. Fiesta Texas was given a German area because of the large German population and culture in and around San Antonio.
I’ve been loving all the theme park videos! ❤ I will say, though, I’m missing you showing what you eat while there. I usually like seeing what you get to eat, too. 😁
Did I hear Hippocampus on the carousel or am I crazy lol 🦛. I swear he said Hippocampus not hippopotamus or maybe there is an inside joke there I don't know lol. Either way, love it!
That is a massive Pendulum- No thank you I will stick with coasters. I rode Poltergeist when it used to have a basic boring queue. The new queue looks awesome. The sound that Goliath makes gives you an awesome sensory feeling walking into the park.
sweet vid. I was amazed by the Wave Swinger Ride. The hero theming and art and lighting, that is something else. This to me is Six Flag's best-looking park.
BTW, the 6th flag was the Republic of Texas, from back when Texas was a separate country. Other than that you hit them all- American, Mexican, Spanish, French, & Confederate.
Oh my… made my heart sad to hear you say more dark rides, etc. SFOT is my home park. The OG Six Flags. In its glory, it was an amazing theme park for the whole family. I remember. I totally agree with you. Six Flags has lost its way with the mega coasters and the stupid Warner Bros / Bugs Bunny theming. Not what founder Angus G. Wynne envisioned at all, I promise. It was amazing in the 70’s and 80’s… all went downhill went they took our precious Spelunker’s away. Maybe it’s the curse of the Spelunkers!! Good work man! Love watching you 😉😉
The six flags are the Kingdom of Spain, the Kingdom of France, the Republic of Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederate States of America and the United States of America. And no Germany did not own Texas but it has a big history in Texas like borne was settled by Germans or Fredericksburg
I went at the beginning of June. The crowds were kinda slow, and the heat was alright for the San Antonio area. I would suggest going at that time rather than the middle of July.
In my opinion Gaylord Entertainment made a lot of bad decisions and a big one was divesting themselves of the theme parks. Nashville still hasn't forgiven them for closing Opryland...
Please tell me you went on Superman Krypton Coaster? I think that is the best coaster in the park, it is smooth and amazing to ride. If you did go on the coaster, I need to know as I have not been there since 2002, do they still play the Christopher Reeve theme song while waiting in line. That was one of my favorite things about the coaster. Can anyone at least please confirm or deny this fact?
How do you have a season pass for six flags and so you can go over the difference they collect parts or do you just like going to different? Six Flags is for fun just curious your friend from Connecticut Amber.
Jacob I love your videos I mean their incredible all the different places you been now it makes me want to go visit all the places to I mean it’s amazing I love your channel and will forever love it I watch your channel like all the time
