I was an owner operator with JB Hunt for 3 months up until the end of last month. Chose to never go home and instead reset on the road. Goal was to make the most money possible. Never broke $2k a week take home. Average was about $ 1,500. That's pennies for all the work and miles I put. The company support is ok and the app is easy to use, though.
@jamariquai01 true. 1500 took care of me and my family just fine and I’ve made more than that there. 1500 is an average amount for some bad weeks. I do understand that 1500 isn’t much to some though. Key at JB was to find a lane that works for you. Some people made way more and way less than I did
@LoveandLifeLLC . With the new pay scale. If you make $1500 after taxes. You doin great. Most of the drivers on day/nights. Usually stay between 1100-1240. So, yeah. 1500, is enough for most.
It’s not too bad but definitely have a good business plan cuz that SFI note plus a slow weekend can equal disaster. But I had some great weeks and some weeks I didn’t get paid at all
It can be… that’s fair enough. Most other companies, outside of your authority and own equipment, may pay more percentage but have you paying something extra too. Not all tho. There are a few hidden gems out there
@@LoveandLifeLLC my company charge me 22 percent and plus I have my own pilot fuel card and I get those discount on fuel also but not as high as 90 cents discount u be getting with jbhunt but I’m waiting for the next video when u switch
Good video, bro. Question, I work for JB Hunt. In Cali, on a dedicated account. I'm looking at OP or Lease Purchase. I know that they have the program in Texas. I was wondering. If I would be able to start in Texas and still live in Cali. Or move to Texas.
Well they do have a few loads out of Tracy and Modesto, CA but that’s about it out that way unless things have changed. I wouldn’t recommend moving based on that alone though. Give them a call to see what loads they have coming in and out of Cali so u don’t end up having to move
Yeah that used to be a problem… you could be trying to plan a good week around a load that might never confirm. I used to hate that. Research and if you decide to make any move you know is best for you, let no one tell you otherwise ✊🏽
Let me say this I have been with JB HUNT 3 months I have yet to see a load paying 3.00 and I am from Houston the 35 percent isn’t a big deal but you got to have the loads to pay that if there is a load going 500 miles JB Hunt paying you about 1100 and that’s the all in rate and 200 of the 1100 is fuel surcharge I have never heard of a premium load board Jb hunt owns its own brokerage company before the load ever hits the load board they take money off it then after you get it they are taking another 35 percent choose well drivers
I know this an older video and i see you have switched companies, but how was it with the SFI truck?? Im switching over but have my own truck but it just went down so considering a SFI truck...I know them weekly payments or monstrous lol, so i guess my question is were you able to still make money after them SFI payments??
I loved in at JB Hunt. They don’t bother or micro manage you. Yeah then SFI payments can hurt when you have a bad week and it’s not a walk away lease. It’s a $6k penalty for early termination. But I had a great truck that I really didn’t have any mechanical problems out of. Some weeks I could make 2k after expenses and some weeks I didn’t make a dime 😅
@LoveandLifeLLC Yea I'm at Landstar now and was suppose to start orientation at Jb Tuesday, but my truck fcked up now I'm scrambling trying to find something lol...
@LoveandLifeLLC Nah they straight, been there bout 4yrs, like you said they don't micro manage you...Them agents just getting on my nerves, loads staying on the board after they been covered is working my nerves lol..
What was your average take home with JB? I’m coming over in 3 weeks, getting my truck with SFI going to orientation in Atlanta. Do you think it’s worth it?
To me it was worth it. Had some good weeks and bad as far as pay. Average I would say was between 1300-1800. Some weeks I didn’t get paid at all and the highest I made was about $2700
That was take home right? After the 35%, SFI truck payment, fuel, insurance, plates, etc. If so that ain’t bad at all. How do you get on that premium load board? Is there more loads on that board?
@chrispotter9165 yes that was take home. Yes they’re more loads on the premium board but the majority of them are live loads/unloads. You have to let your fleet manager know and they’ll put you on the list
@@LoveandLifeLLC I’m at .47 cents and not even getting 2000 miles a week tough. I know we all feeling how bad it is. Got to have faith and find that better opportunity around the corner. Stay safe my trucking brother.
I can check the load board or email you a clip of it but from what I’ve seen. There’s good loads going in Texas but it’s kinda dead for JB coming out unless u slide over to Oklahoma or Louisiana for something
@fabienkwizera804 didn’t have to pay anything actually. I had enough money in my maintenance account to cover all my final expenses plus they ended up owing me $471
Not at all. Yeah they have heavy loads like any other company but even the load I have now is only 5465 pounds. Frito Lay loads are never really more than 11000 pounds and they pay well.
