I can't remember the last time I heard a positive money story on RU-vid. It's refreshing to see a young woman speak confidently about money and finances. 👏👏👏Great job, Gabby! 👏👏👏
So true! It’s so common to hear such negative stories or even nightmare situations when it comes to money! It’s so obvious our society does not prepare us adequately. Thank you 🙏🏽 I hope it can help someone out there.
Haha thank you, I appreciate it! and thats kind of sad! Im sure there are tons of people on RU-vid with my privilege and more. Seems dishonest to not mention it to me.
Privileged to have responsible parents who raise their child to also be responsible?? This is the norm and rightly so, maybe comment on the feckless who don’t manage their money and raise their kids to be equally inept.
Hey Gabby! The youtube algorithm blessed me this week and recommended your april reset video, and I was about halfway through before I noticed your subscriber count - I was SHOCKED because your video quality is so on point with other creators I watch that do similar content with like 50-100k subs (I know you'll be at that level in no time)! I've caught up on all your other videos over the past couple days and am so excited to follow along your journey, as another Canadian 20something who's also obsessed with personal finance ☺
I, too, was shocked when I looked at Gabby's sub count. I'm hoping she gets her first 1000 + view time threshold in order to get monetized. Since I'm retired, I've got time on my hands and comment as much as I could, and run one of her videos when I step away from my computer.
So glad to hear you found my video thanks to the algorithm! Thank you for your kind comment! That means so much, and thank you for subscribing and joining the fam ❤ so cool you are also a Canadian who’s obsessed with personal finance!!
i absolutely loved this video and will be coming back to listen to this when i need the extra motivation. after spending years building up my emergency fund only to take from it, my husband and I started tracking our spending in January, doing monthly budgets, and getting serious about our money goals. I feel like we have too many goals right now (emergency funds, investing, sinking funds) so to hear that it did take you years to get your savings in a good place is honestly a bit of a relief for me. i appreciate your transparency about your money upbringing as well! you are quickly becoming one of my favorite youtubers! ❤
Thank you so much for your comment! I’m so glad you found some value in my story! It’s such an easy cycle to get into! But that’s amazing that you guys are are on the same page and are so determined! There are so many goals and ways to go about things it definitely can feel like your hardly making progress! But I promise it will get easier with time. Progress feels impossibly slow when your in it, but when you look back you’ll be shocked by how much you’ve accomplished. Just have to trust the process 🙏🏽 Thanks again for your comment!! 💕💕
Gabby, I’m already in love with your channel. I love the honesty and the respect you give to your parents and how they’ve raised you! So positive! Keep up the good work ❤😊
Get it girl!! yes! you learned both sides of the coin (no pun intended 🤣) You have seen what it's like to struggle with your spending choices and what it's like to be confident and comfortable with money, and you're young!!!! you are winning. I am finally getting there, and I'm old lol. Better late than never.
Thank you 🙏🏽 lovely pun haha 😂 I definitely have been on both sides and it feels a lot better on this side. Glad to hear you are also on your finance journey! Wishing you all the best 💕
I lovee your journey, thank you for being so transparent and acknowledging your privileges, I totally understand feeling guilty of spending money 😩 Being in control of your finances is not that easy but when you get it you GETT IT. I’m so glad I found your channel!
Makes me so happy to hear you loved the video!! Of course! It’s the least I can do. Gotta keep it real. So true!! It’s such a hard thing to get a grasp on sometimes. Moneys so tied with our psychology. Thank you for subscribing, so excited for you to join the fam 💕

Good morning! Hello to France. Beautiful country. That sounds like a wonderful simple life. Congrats to you for putting aside so much of your income! I hope to do the same. Best wishes from Canada!
Stop saying you’re privileged, your parents did well managing money and worked hard to provide for your family. Building wealth is not a remorseful event. Great job by your parents.
Hi! Thanks for your comment. I don’t feel remorseful for the advantage I have. I am just acknowledging that I have it. It would feel dishonest to me to not disclose it. I am extremely grateful for what my parents did!
So I have a question, how do you feel they raised you so that you weren't "spoiled" and actually used the advantage you had wisely? I mean aside from your credit card debt that you were able to snap out of. I ask cause I just had my first daughter and know that we will be able to provide for her much like your parents did for you. I'm scared she will become entitled in a way if we pay for everything but we want to be able to give her a leg up.
@@TheRefinedBudget hello! That is a great question! I think they did a great job of raising me with good overall values and morals, not just with money, which helped me a lot. I also think they provided me with what I needed and what would help me long term without spoiling me senselessly. Don’t get me wrong I have been given so much, but I think I was always grateful because I knew it wasn’t the case for everyone. I hope that helps!!
@@GabbyPeterson17 Yes that does! Also hope you know I wasn't insinuating that you were, you actually come off as super down to earth and that's why I was curious! Yeah, I guess all I can do is hope that we teach her to be as caring and mindful as possible. Thank you, loving your channel so far! ☺
I do have a great salary just below $95k, and have had side gigs to make more income over the last few years. I have been saving and investing since early 2019 even when I did have credit card debt. Most of the progress I’ve made though was in the last 2 years. My income has gone up consistently and I’ve worked hard to not have lifestyle inflation. I hope that makes sense.
