That's a nice Ak I like it bud thank you for sharing with me appreciate every gun you shared some I've never seen before but now I have Thanks to you🤝😊
That is awesome. Sweet build. I have not built an AK yet. And I’m trying to get a decent parts kit now. Man that looks good. That’s how an old AK should look right there
Congrats man. Looks good. Probably a Hungarian sling. Cleaning rods were originally blued. The cup in your rivet tool probably need to be just a touch bigger. In other words it looks like the dished out portion of your tool is a little too small. Also if you were running your air wide open on the air hammer, you might want to dial the pressure down a little. I'm not trying to be critical, just an observation. Thanks for the video.
Yeah. I got a bigger end mill to make the hole bigger on my rivet tools. I'm planning on working over all the tool I have. Probably need a better air hammer too. The $10 harbor freight one was causing me headache. Lol. I've got a better one at the shop I should have used. Thanks for watching and the advice!
@@BigBadJones Its your first build. Sounds like you will fine tune the tools a little bit. But either way, good job. As they say with tools.......buy once cry once......lol. I've been there with all sorts of tools too. I get it.
You know what's funny my lower dong hand guard has that same name scratched into it. "MIRELA" It almost looks like the same person did it it looks very similar.
I used a drill bit to start then a dremel stone bit to grind out the rivet cupping holes and then some steel wool to polish and then put grease in them to help from scratching the rivets.
Hello at 2:55 the "trench art" is actually a pretty common name for women in Romania, and i think that is what the romanian owner called this gun so if you didn't have a name for this gun there you go
Good work man. I like seeing a build done with bolt cutters and an air hammer. I'm attempting my own very soon. Why buy tools when you can make most of them?
Thanks! I really like it. I used a harbor freight 3 ton press on the barrel. Made my own jig for it. I already had a press because I use it all the time working on cars.
I gotta try to get my barrel pin out half looks busted out and the truniion holes look a little marred up do you think if I press it out to swap the reciever a new one will be fine to press in?
@Big Bad Jones That's awesome. I just saw your first shots video with the build and was gonna ask if you ended up replacing the recoil spring. Not surprised to hear it was something simple.. they are so rugged, and you did a good job on the build man 👍
Great Vid👍👍 I got a retainer slot that was cut i little too far forward in the barrel. So there is a gap between the retainer and the handguard. I'm thinking about welding/soldering metall into the original slot and filing a new slot in the correct position. My concern is that the high temperatures could weaken the steel - so there could be a safety hazard. Maybe JB-Weld could be a alternative? What would you do? Thanks and with best regards
Thanks for watching! I'd see if you have enough room for another slot just behind the original and not worry about filling it ( should be covered by the retainer) . If not then maybe JB weld it. I don't like the idea of heat either.
You have a girl's name written on the wood MIRELA, I'm from Romania, I hope that the soldier who wrote to see this movie if the person is still alive, possibly the name of his girlfriend 💖👌cool
Big Bad Jones Thanks its a little well a lot scratched up on the butt stock it has a Nodak Spud receiver on it i heard they are good I don’t know was hoping you maybe have heard of it
@@watcher6068 sounds good. Scratches don't hurt anything on an AK and in my opinion add character. Those receivers have a good name, pretty standard affair as far as receivers go. Just visually inspect all the rivets and make sure they are seated fully and not loose. Also check the trigger pin hole and make sure they aren't oblong and are keeping the trigger pins in place. Other than that not much else could be bad.
