Thank you Dayle❤️ I really am glad I approached the process at my own pace without dropping thousands just for the sake of getting a bag (that is extortionately expensive to begin with).
It may also reflect changing economic times Dayle. The fizz is going out of some of the luxury market which gives a lot of opportunities even though Lesley asked for possibly the most popular colour and style. Also Lesley used her emotional intelligence and didn't nag, cajole, or carry on during the wait period. It must be annoying to the SAs to have to deal with people who are trying to cultivate them and try to wangle something. Or go into the store wearing the maximum amount of Hermès possible... so ingratiating. So they were factual and respectful that she'd waited. An easier life all round except for the impatient.
to be honest. If you produce at cost and remove the logo, the luxury market really isn't that expensive. The mark is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact that you are *esluxscom* buying an image and showing off your taste to make them think you are richer than you are is a very good thing to do
I love the wishlist system that you have in the UK. In the US it really doesn’t work like that and we have to spend no matter what. I’m happy for you, let’s be honest getting this bag with barely having spent anything in the boutique is a real win. I would be the first to be super patient to get my bags if it was just a matter of waiting for my turn to come!
Thanks so much. I appreciate I’m fairly lucky with where I’m located. The whole pre-spend game would put me off from buying at the boutique. But of course, reseller prices are insane and probably not a feasible option either…
@@LesleyAdina Since I love what Hermès has to offer I don’t see it in a negative way to be honest. Plus I really love going to the boutique. 😂 Of course it would be awesome if getting bags was easier but it’s not, and I am not buying on the resale market at these insane prices, that’s for sure!
Etoupe complements your skintone well. You glowed when you took out the bag. I think it brought out the warmer tone of your skin, making you look more vibrant and youthful.
Congratulations on getting your Birkin! I stayed for the full video and thank you for sharing your story. It is nice to hear with patience/time it is possible to get the requested bag from Hermes without having to spend a lot. Enjoy !!❤
only recently heard of this company and their business model. I'm impressed. Having your customer establish a purchase history before you actually sell them what they came for is brilliant! Also, reading more into the brand name - Hermes the greek god, known for his trickery. They even have it in the name... Mega impressive what these people behind the brand have done.
From a business and brand strategy perspective, I totally agree! Requiring brand loyalty definitely boosts their sales in categories outside of handbags.
I know this is an old video and comment but please don't glorify this brand. They prey on people with disposable income to charge outrageous pricing for bags that they ki!led animals for. Baby calves, crocodiles all kinds of animals. Because they only sell in this predatory way to make a false sense of exclusivity to keep people coming back to pay these outrageous prices. The worst part is then having admitted that they will never mark an item down or have it go on sale so if items age and they don't sell they destroy them rather than anyone but extremely wealthy can be seen with their bags. They even try to legally go after people in the resell community who try and sell their own purchases. The WORST but, WORST is those animals die to be destroyed because their flesh didn't sell. Hermes keeps their own crocodile farm where they are treated horribly to be slaughtered for use making handbags. Does that sound exclusive to you? It's disgusting. Their business model and business in general is disgusting. I can appreciate beautiful bags, I have some higher end bags that are made beautifully but I'd never purchase from a designer who would be so classist elitist, wasteful and horrible to animals. A company who'd rather that animal die for nothing and see bags and leather destroyed than see someone who may not be a celebrity or millionaire carrying their merchandise. They are the worst!! If you are so new to their brand you may not know much about the purse community on RU-vid but id recommend going to the channel purseonfleek to hear her horrific experience with the way this company treated her. There are tons of horror stories but hers is a wild cautionary tale. This woman's experience IS NOT the norm for anyone so just do research, they are awful!!!
I think people mis interpret the sentence - " I (hermes SA) dont have any stock". it actually means they dont have stock for YOU specifically their answer vary from person to person. it happened to me where I was given to choose between 3 rodeos and someone else saw my rodeos on the table and asked to see them; the SA told that person they dont have any in stock (technically true as they were infant of me) but I only chose 1 out of 3 so the 2 were in stock to purchase after I was done.
That totally makes sense! Of course, they differentiate between their customers, depending on how good of a relationship they have with the brand and how much they purchase. And that’s totally legitimate of them :)
Let me know what you THIIIINK 😍 I tried to include as much detailed information as possible. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask away in the comments below. Btw, the irony of having filmed my video about how I don’t have a luxury wishlist, only to then get a call from my local Hermès boutique literally the NEXT day with one/two quota bag offers isn’t lost on me but that’s how life works out sometimes (and I’m not complaining). Outside of Hermès (and I did include a caveat for Birkins and Kellys in last weeks' video anyway), I still very much stand by what I said in that video.
Was nice listening to the whole story! ;) In the Hermes Boutique in Düsseldorf I also observed a lady getting a Kelly offered on the floor. Then she was left with the bag and she & her daughter could examine the bag. Enjoy the bag ;)
@@nesibeauty5558 I love that :) With it being such an expensive decision, I don’t want to have the SA breathing down my neck while I try the bag on etc. Seems to be a common way of handling bag offers in Germany then :)
Congrats dearie!! She is such a gorgeous colour!! And getting her after a few years without much spending profile is really a treat! Here in Singapore we need to build our profile with a ratio of 1:1 b4 we can be offered one quota bag. Glad that u have ur dream bag
Thanks so much dear 🤗 I appreciate I’m fairly fortunate with where I’m located, that it only took a little patience to be offered such a dream bag. The pre-spend stories and unwritten requirements I’ve heard about other countries and regions are crazy!
Congratulations Lesley!! I really appreciated hearing the details of your story! 😊It makes me feel more confident about eventually going in Hermes since I've wanted a couple of scarves for awhile now.
Thank you Meghan😍 I’m so happy this is the in-store experience I got! The SA was really chill and so lovely to work with. Not pushy at all. You really should!
I'm 37 years old and I already have a yt: *preluxscom* black Birkin bag, which was the first good choice I ever made. I can afford a Kelly bag in any color. If I were 25, I'd probably buy it. But now I consciously don't want to associate with a woman who has a Kelly and a Birkin. I have no interest in spending $40k on a bag (a piece of leather + labor = up to $1000) Imagine spending $39k on this brand. Totally unnecessary.
A beautiful story followed by a stunning bag. It’s an all year round colour enjoy her in great health. I got the samorga for my Birkin 35 and it’s a great insert that I would certainly recommend especially if you are concerned about slouching.
Hi, Leslie ! Congratulations! I was in my local store this afternoon which is your local store too btw (when you know, you know, right?). It was such a good timing because I could see how a man has been offered a Birkin 30 in a Togo leather/GHW/étain combination. The SA unboxed the bag and the customer agreed to buy it. But I was just wondering because the store was so full!!! No privacy at all for this purchase. I mean, the customer was quite comfortable by showing everybody else how lucky he was. But it's very not the way I would like to buy my quota bag!!! Today, the streets around the Hermès store were very busy at that time because of a demonstration. And I was just thinking: a little scary to walk alone with this huge white bag with this well-known orange box inside!!!
Interesting, thank you for sharing 🤗 I would have imagined they do the bag offer process a little more low-key when the store is busy. Not just for the sake of the customer’s enjoyment but also to prevent everyone in the boutique from seeing the bag and then proceeding to inquire a about a K or B too… I guess I was lucky that I happened to pick up my bag on a quiet day :) As for carrying around the giant bag: Agree! Someone who knows Hermès can probably tell what you are carrying inside. Not going to lie, the U-Bahn ride home after work later that night was a little stressful. Probably, no one cares or noticed but I didn’t feel 100% at ease.
Thank you so much 😊 Sure, great idea. I‘ve been meaning to film a video with try-on clips anyway. The comparison will add another helpful aspect. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your experience on getting your birkin! I too would love a birkin in black. However, really love the combination you ended opting for. ❤❤ Congratulations! Enjoy! 🥰
Gorgeous bag .congrats .I am in the uk ,here you have the wishlist which expires in 8 months in some boutique and 10 in other .If you have not got the bag ,you go back and they put you again in wishlist .I saw on mine that even the online purchase are registered .I have put my wishlist for birkin and don't intend to play the Hermes game .Lets see ,fingers crossed x
Thank you so much :) Interesting, so it really does work that way in the UK! It’s so interesting that every country kind of has its own rules and procedures when it comes to quota bags, with significant differences even between the countries that work on a waitlist basis. Fingers crossed you’ get a call soon❤️ I am totally with you on not wanting to get sucked into the Hermès game and spend thousands on items I don’t particularly care for. If I like something from Hermès, I am happy to purchase it. But not with the main intention of making me look better in the eyes of whoever eventually decides on the allocation of quota bags…
Congratulation. So pleased for you. The uk rule is a “wish” system you have to renew your wish every 8 months or it expires. Just to give you the uk version. She is gorgeous xx
You are too kind, thank you❤️ Haha, I do appreciate bags from all price ranges through :) Yes, Hermès is probably the ultimate. But the excitement I had when I unboxed and started wearing my Ferragamo bag for instance comes pretty close to the Birkin ;) I’ll let you be the judge of whether that’s a good or a bad thing 😅
I think it’s very interesting what you said about your mother. So did she go into the Hermês store itself while you were looking at the handbags? Did she become interested, feign interest, or look through another section? I would like to have someone who would accompany me to special appointments whether they make me nervous, or if I want them to be memorable. Will your mother come with me on a short trip? I’min Orlando. My German is very limited, but I have a nice smile and we can have lunch wherever she wants. I’m just being a silly lady. I’m far away in Orlando Florida. Thank you for sharing your story of the beautiful Etaupe Birkin 30.
Haha, maybe that’s a side hustle she should look into 😁 Accompanying people to memorable events sounds like a fun business model ;) Jokes aside: We went into the boutique together. She was looking at the bag with me. Thank you so much!
Congratulations! I too had to wait a long time for my Noir B35. May you wear it in good health. I did buy a preloved B35 that I purchased a Samorga liner for, but for the Noir, I purchased the 7Rue Paradis. There is no comparison in quality. I felt I spent so much on the bag, I wasn't going to skimp on the liner.
Congratulations on your first Birkin. I agree with you: that system of having to spend a huge amount (a spending history) is crazy-pants. Having to wait for 2.5 years! Yikes. In a way, since the price increase from the time you put your name on a wait list to the purchase date is sort of like a spend history, like a $1000 increase? Again, congratulations on the lovely bag.
Thank you 🤗 Good point, it’s kind of a built-in pre-spend. I haven’t monitored the price increases since I had them put me on the list but I’m sure it’s a minimum of 1k
Hamburg, Germany. We are getting a new and bigger boutique in April/May too (apparently bigger than Munich and inspired by the Paris Sèvres interior style). Let’s see how that will affect stock and quota bag offers. I’ve heard that whenever a new boutique opens, there is a bigger chance of getting offered a quota bag. But that’s probably more applicable to when Hermès comes to a new city, as opposed to an established boutique just upgrading to new premises a new buildings down from where the original boutique used to be. Also can’t comment on quota bag offers to non-locals… Hope that helps🙈
that's the exact one I want! dream bag. wow. and with no prespend? I need to move to the UK and try making a wish list there. I have a 1:1 prespend (but I have bought items at different stores and the website bc I dont live closer to one store). but I'm still begging for Evelyn's =\ I hate California
I’m sorry🙁 That sounds so frustrating! I really hope you will get an offer eventually🤞🏼 I got my Birkin offer in Germany, so I can’t speak for the UK but from what I’ve heard the UK boutiques still do work on a wishlist basis, at least to some degree.
Great good luck story. Bag colour w gold hardware looks classy, classical and neutral. Would have liked to see you style it with an outfit ...etc. in this video.
Thank you 🤗 I felt like this video was already long enough, so I decided to focus on the storytime. I will make sure to film a styling video in due course :)
Congratulations! Very happy for you and your bag! Wear it in good health! I was surprised that you said you are in Germany. I thought you are in France, just not in Paris :) I personally gave up on my local San Francisco boutique. Too much competition, and I would probably have to spend 1:2 at least to get a quote bag. I rather build relationship with a SA in Europe and get my bags there.
I can only imagine how competitive the SF boutique must be. There is a lot of tech money in the bay area, so probably a ton of quota bag clients. It’s easy to get sucked into the spiral of spending for the sake of a bag offer. So good for you that you decided that that’s not the way you want to go about it :) Paris might be an option but I’ve personally never tried the appointment system. So no idea how high the odds of getting a B or K in one of the Paris boutiques actually are. Haha, yes I’m German and located in Germany. I’ve just been to France a handful of times on vacation. I took French in high school. Sadly, 99% of it is long gone😅
Thank you for sharing all the details, and so happy that you got your dream bag. Maybe it’s not nice but can I ask how much you got it? I just need to compare with secondary market and see if it worth waiting.
In my country (Malaysia), it is pretty impossible to get a quota bag if you didn’t spend more than 1:1 ratio (yes not even 1:1). We only have 3 Hermes store in the country but 1 is in the airport so you can’t even get a quota bag there. Imagine everyone in the country fighting for bags at only 2 stores 😅 and I know a lot of more wealthy people that can’t even get an offer due to the high competition. If I ever got one, I think I will go for the preloved/reseller route or try my luck when travelling in Europe. I think I got a better chance there than in my own country. Congratulations on your new bag 🎉. Great size and stunning combo. I’m also eyeing on a 35 since it looks better on guys (imo).
Wow, that is insane! I can imagine, with so few stores, the competition must be insanely tough! I would definitely either try Europe or go preloved. Chances are, with a size 35, you won’t have to pay crazy high premiums.
Thank you so much 🤗 Sorry if I was being unclear. I am located in Germany. I’d imagine London being a lot more competitive, but I can’t speak from experience.
Beautiful bag! I hope you don't mind my asking. What method dis you use to pay for the bag. Did you pay credit card? I'm asking as my card only allows up to a certain amount.
No worries at at :) My card is the same (which is only sensible, for safety reasons). Hermès was fine with me splitting the amount up and paying it with more than one card. The SA said that that’s super common and some people also do a combination of card and cash.
I have one question and one question only. Did you pay before the call? Or after the call when you went to collect your bag? Thank you and have a blessed day! ❤️ Hermes is my dream bag as well. ❤️❤️
Hi Louana :) I only paid once I had decided to actually buy the bag, so inside the boutique, the day after I had gotten the call. In general, the SA on the phone as well as the SA I dealt with in person when I went to look at the bag told me there was no pressure or expectation for me to buy it. I think on the phone I even said I was unsure because it wasn’t the color and leather I had on my wishlist and the SA was fine with me coming to check the bag out in person anyway and then make my decision. Hope that helps. Fingers crossed you will get your dream bag at some point✨
