I invented a new type of chess move. More like named. I think. In this game I played my first fellow international opponent of the tournament. She came all the way from Malaysia! 🇲🇾

The chess Nerd is out here crushing chess AND creating new words 😅. That blue blunder was so interesting and exciting to watch, what a brilliant move! Playing a new chess opening in a game for the first time is daunting for me, it's wild you could do so in a tournament and win! Especially one you have never really played before. Congrats on the win.! 🎉

I think it's not really a worse benoni for white because Nf3 is a very normal move in that position and the idea is to go Nd2 Nc4 at some point and push f4 anyways.

However you are right tho, i recently also played an otb game with this exact idea of avoiding the taimanov variation with f4, since it is pretty annoying to face. Nf3 is the most popular approach, but imo less dangerous@@thechessnerd

Love the Benoni, it's such a fun line. Nimzo/Benoni is a relatively known mix for the people that don't like early ... d5 lines but want to avoid the Taimanov. It's more common against 3. g3 since Black is completely fine against the Fianchetto in the Benoni.

Of course, and your question is pertinent if you are a Super GM because it’s completely new from this video: A Blue Blunder is a move that looks like a completely blunder (i.e. it looks losing due to some obvious/eye-catching winning move or combination by the opponent) but is actually a brilliant move because not only it counteracts the opponent’s winning possibilities, but it also creates (or is a) winning tactics for you!

Please don't play Benoni against a smaller opponent with 400 Elo points. It's too dangerous. When you become Grandmaster you will be able to play Benoni anytime and anywhere.
