I would had turned the Caro-kan into the Queens Gambit Declined Slav defense which happens when you sacrifice the c pawn with the move c4 which opponents might not know how to handle it since most opponents will be caught off guard including Caro-kan players of chess.

My first brilliant at the board was at a tournament, I sacrificed a rook for a knight, if he took with his queen, it would be a triple fork, but she took with the pawn and got mated in 5

You have one skill that we would all kill to have. You never seem to get nervous playing higher rated players. A few months ago in a tournament I played against a rated guy rated 1000 FIDE (I was unrated) and after hours of playing I finally gained an advantage, and was able to navigate somewhat well. Later he got low on time and blundered mate in two. A few rounds later I was paired against someone who had a performance rating of more than 1900. The nerves caused me to blunder really early and I later resigned as my opponent was trolling me with a knight and a bishop. I later found out that *the 1000-rated guy who I won against, actually drew this guy who had a performance rating over 1900.*
@ekersh3428
@ekersh3428 4 месяца назад
Well done on winning against that guy. Whenever I play higher rated opponents I treat them like any other person. You've got to remember that everyone is human and makes mistakes then trust your instincts and calculation if u feel they have played something wrong.
@prawnydagrate
@prawnydagrate 4 месяца назад
@@ekersh3428 that reminds me, in the last round of the tournament I was paired against a guy who was unrated but also undefeated. he'd won every other round and had a very high performa rating. I was getting destroyed in the middlegame but I did my best to defend and eventually equalized. I then found a very nice move threatening checkmate, and the only good way for him to defend was to walk right into a double attack on his king and queen. I was the only person throughout the entire tournament to defeat him. even after winning a queen for a minor piece though, I was spending tons of time because I was nervous. I really need to improve at that

To be fair: in this opening (I play this with black) you don't need super much prep. After Be7 the position is considered to be equal yet Qg4 is most challenging. Greetings from Germany ;)
@thechessnerd
@thechessnerd 4 месяца назад
Maybe that’s why he took so much time before committing to Be7 instead of Bb6. He doesn’t like the Qg4 variation (would have been fire prep).
