I've followed Jodi for a while, but I usually see her playing Valo which isn't really my thing.. But these books hauls and deeper conversations have me in a chokehold. Throne of Glass is my all-time-favorite-series EVER, but I am currently reading Fourth Wing. Added Mating in Captivity to my TBR list!

I highly recommend the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo. It’s a spin-off series of her Shadow and Bone trilogy, but it’s not necessary to read them to understand the duology. It’s a fantasy series that follows a group of young adults that are in a gang and going on a huge heist, and they all have different motives. The setting she creates, I think, is one of the best fantasy worlds ever. The magic system is incredibly unique and woven into the story seamlessly. Each of the main cast of characters has their own story going on throughout the books, so it never drags in pacing. Plus there’s a fair amount of romance. (No smut bc it’s classified as YA, but I think beautiful romance nonetheless.)

Sanderson is great. I've read everything he's put out (except for White Sand), but I honestly think there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Reading too much of a specific author makes you really aware of their habbits, which spoiled some of the magic for me.

For those unaware, Tress of the Emerald Sea is written in the voice of one of the author's characters. (He's technically everywhere but they have the most "screen time" in the Stormlight Archive series). As a result, the prose and syntax in Tress is like no other novel by the author. I would recommend anyone wanting to pick up Tress, to either read Stormlight first, or read up on the character themselves first. I won't say the character's name here for spoiler purposes but it's an easy search online if you're interested.

I think a cool video idea would be looking into subscribers favourite books or book recommendations from viewers. One of my favourite books I’ve read recently is called Assassinorum: Kingmaker. It’s a warhammer book but it focuses on lesser known factions and if you are a fan of gore, dystopian worlds and societies, mecha suits that have minds of their own, specialist military forces, and epic hero moments. I’d say that’s a good book for you.

If you don’t care if the books are new. Check out and see if there is one in your location. ‘Friends of the Library’. They have 2 at least where I live book fairs twice a year. They have a lot of genres. Books, games, DVDs, CDs, cassettes, puzzles too. Some collectible cooks that are old editions but cost more. At least where I live books are $2-$4. Children books 50-75cents. DVD $4. Pricing might vary depending on where you live. So you can find new books not just sued. They will have a small selection of comics. Best time is the first day but usually $5 to get in but it goes to a raffle which you could end up getting your money back. Throughout the week they will have different deals. Such as one day price will be based on per bag. Towards the end it will end up per box (the banana boxes at grocery stores size). Quality of the books are pretty good. As I said you can find a lot of new books.

omg, here for all of your book content! since it's almost the end of the year, would love a video hearing about all your favorite reads of 2023! Also, I've read The Foxglove King! I devoured it when I picked it up, like read it in 3 days. I really enjoyed the magic system, the court politics, and the tropes. It does have a love triangle, which I found fun but I know some people just really hate them. I probably wouldn't put it in my top fantasies list, but boy was it a fun time and I need the next book. I'm about to reread Throne of Glass to get ready for CC3 and I'm hype!

I jumped back into reading last year - I think a lot of us fell back into the love of reading in the last few years. I read I think maybe 30 books last year and now I'm on track to read 100 books this year haha it's such an addiction! I read a lot of library books though so I don't have a million books all over the place ( although I wouldn't mind if I did) The Libby app is the best thing to ever be created! I would not have been able to read 100 books in a year without it. I can't wait to see what you think of your new reads!!

As a fellow fantasy fanboy whose gf also enjoys reading them its nice to see people supporting reading. I kinda stopped reading a lot around college cause I was too busy with my piloting, law and psych books and never really got super back into it outside of audible. I know you said it wasn't your favorite series, and I have not read it yet, but a small recommendation if you want to read more from the ACOTAR author. I am currently reading the first book in her Crescent City series! (Supposedly there are little nods to her other series in the books, but it's not required to read each series to read the other) and I have been loving it! A LOT of fantasy, some smut, and it's a murder mystery that has me on my toes wanting to read more! P.S I would definitely watch a book review on Iron Flame/Fourth Wing series so far. I agree it definitely seems like it got second book syndrome, but I am hoping the third picks it back up and breaks some of the minor repetitiveness. I think we like the same genre so I am definitely adding a lot of your books to my TBR!

the canon even of ACOTAR slam dunking people back into their reading-craze of middle school/high school. finished the ACOTAR series in a couple weeks, ate up Fourth Wing, and now into the world of from blood and ash (book 3, which is sad to hear this one might be more mid than the last two). it took me forever to get through from blood and ash (almost DNF'd it) but the last two hundred or so pages reminded me of the Sarah J Maas two hundred pages. this video has me convinced I have to get the sister series after mulling it over quite a bit. Started the Serpent & Dove series but stopped after Book 1 (not sure if Book 2/3 are any better?)

Have you read "The Name of the Wind", it might be something for you. It is fantasy, the protagonist is a boy, it is rather slow and contain many details. It is not a page turner, but I just wanted to stay in that world, learn more about the characters and the magic of that world. It is years since I read it, but parts of the book have just stayed with, like only a few other books have (especially books I only read once, as of yet) I like sci-fi so I want to suggest a sci-fi book too. Artemis (by Andy Weir), this I very different from "The Name of the Wind", this is a super fast book, you can probably read it one sitting. It is action packed and fun. You mainly focus on the female protagonist that lives on the moon, and she is just having one of those days and is handeling it like a champ. I was rooting for her from page ~15 and she just kept impressing me with her wits and attitude. If "The Name of the Wind" is a three course dinner Artemis is a serving of snacks, but I have no regrets reading them both. I have added some of your suggestions to my Wishlist, feel free to do the same with my suggestions, but do not feel obligated they might not spark anything in you, like the did me.

Yay for book content! I looooved This is How You Lose the Time War. It's such a unique book and the writing is really beautiful! I have One Dark Window, Priory of the Orange Tree and Tress of the Emerald Sea all on my to-read list! Hoping to get to them soon!

As someone who has been wanting to just fall in love with reading again and loves fantasy, thank you Jodi. The way you talk about books is actually so calming
