Hi Lester, beautiful pipe! I, myself, have two Brigham pipes. One is an antique Algonquian one-dot with an original metal tenon (made in Canada), and the other is a newer Italian-made Tundra pipe with a plastic tenon (no dots, but it has a golden “B” stamped on the side). I love them both and I feel they work well with topped Va/Bur tobaccos. One of them is solely dedicated to Peterson’s University Flake. I do find they help with tongue bite, but what I appreciate about them most is that they seem to make any tobacco feel more “velvet-y” than when smoked in other pipes. As a Canadian, I do feel proud to own and smoke a few Brighams, but the old Canadian-made ones are nevertheless hard to come by in Canada. Nowadays, all our tobacconists only carry the newer Italian-made models. I was lucky enough to find my old one-dot in excellent condition at an antique shop. Anyways, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and as always, I appreciate your video. Looking forward to the next one! :)

so part of my work history, i worked in paper for many years. it is sad that makers cant make a quality box for a pipe. most dont want to pay for it, but it can be made for a reasonable price. I own many Chinese's pipes that came in a wonderful box with a sock and multi tool extras. make the pipe and outsource the box and sock. I was not notified of your video and kinda up set as i am not sure why. i figure that this might not get the viewer ship that i was wanting long term and i try to bring a different direction of pipe smoking and motorcycling would get me to 2000 subs over a couple years and move forward to making a made for YT show is my end goal. i will see if that works out. glad to see you

Good luck my’ol mate 😊👍👍 There are are successful YT pipes moking channels (not me) with 10k-50k subs and more…but…the big YT channels are 100k subs to 1Mil. are in other subjects cosmetics, finance, pop music etc. Pipe smoking is a tiny niche in terms of a viewing market and making money on YT, also…the advertisers avoid pipe smoking videos. My channel is not monetised…I do it as a creative outlet, just for fun and friendship in the pipe smoking community 😉

Howdy from rural California. I recently purchased 5 Brigham rusticated Voyageurs. I wanted to have a rotation.... Broke 3 of them in with Carter Hall. I absolutely adore the rusticated look, attractive pipes! No more tongue bite! They really work and have taught me how to smoke Virginia blends. To ease the filter, pull it out immediately after your smoke. The bowl will be warm but the shank is always cool. Pull it out, rinse in hot water, set it in a small glass jar. Only once did I need to use the pliars to pull the filter. I do NOT like the taste of the pre-carbon. These pipes are still tasting HARSH. Im working on the taste but I don't think Im going to keep them all. I bought 2 pokers and love them. But I'm going to say that Savinelli is a sweeter tasting briar. I can taste the Balkan blends in the Brighams, but the aromatics taste very flat. Enjoy!!

My new Brigham Klondike (19) came in a decorative 'Brigham Logo' metal tin w/flip top lid. And the tin is now in service of holding 200 regular pipe cleaners. I love the pipe...but not a fan of how much flavor was removed, or reduced, for the insert. I'm talking about C&D's Gentleman Caller and Crooner, which I specifically bought the pipe for, tastes so much "not like themselves." So I may remove the 'absorption insert' (I cannot call it a filter). I suppose the Brigham system would be interesting to try with other blends that do have a fair amount of "bite," so to see if the insert is successful at reducing bite. And if it helps to enjoy its flavor then, or does the same thing happen and again the insert reduces the flavor as well. But honestly I have only come across one blend with a big bite...and that is Hearth & Home's Mid-Town Chestnut. Friggin' reviewers writing BS on how smooth it is, and has no bite, sucked me in. It has five tobaccos in it and is supposed to be "complex," but I cannot distinguish one from another; and must deal with its bite on top of it being a bland blend. Maybe I should just use my new Brigham with that blend...since it already has no flavor, and reduce its bite so to rid myself of that blend.
@RedcoatsReturn
@RedcoatsReturn 4 месяца назад
My dear friend…thanks for watching and your thoughtful comment 😊👍👍 Yes…some blends…bite some smokers…and not…some others…our mouths and tongues are very different. Certainly for me…filters and Brigham inserts….helps to reduce tongue bite…stopped particles of ash…and absorb the tar and nasty components of smoke. However, there are blends that have “bad Karma“…you‘ll never enjoy them…fir bad memories…what to do? You can blend them with other tobaccos…or put in your Frankenstein jar (collecting the overleft tobaccos) or. throw them in the bin…as a last resort 😄 Anyway…enjoy other blends with your Brigham pipe and a lovely Easter time for you 😊😉💨💨💨
@Roh_Echt
@Roh_Echt 4 месяца назад
@@RedcoatsReturn I typically do not throw anything out...other than a disagreeable, flavored, aromatic. One where blending will not help the aromatic, and will only hurt the accompaniment. But that particular H&H blend, for being bland (or perhaps over-balanced), could definitely be put on hold and used as filler with something that would help it all stand out. I have 8oz of Latakia and 4oz of Izmir Turkish on the way. And I can get my scale and aperitifs out and play Dr. Frankenstein with it. But "what to do" with a blend already stuffed with so much diversity, such as these: mellow Burley, sweet Virginia, smooth Maryland, hearty Kentucky, exotic Turkish and smoky Latakia. ← I wasn't kidding when I said it's a "complex blend" ... and it has six types, not five. I'm pretty sure I could take the stuff, from its currently balanced state, any direction I want to. Off to the lab I go🤔

I'd love to see how many smokes you get out of a distillator, and also if you have success soaking them in whiskey or rum or something for a while, before rinsing them with hot water, then letting them dry.
@RedcoatsReturn
@RedcoatsReturn 11 месяцев назад
I usually clean my pipes with cheap vodka…as 40% vodka has very little taste and doesn’t harm the briar as stronger alcohol can..and…is a fermentation food grade product rather than synthetic unnatural alcohol like isopropanol…that some pipers use. I cleaned the distillator with vodka too and let it dry. I‘ll see how it goes in the next smoke. I’m sure a distillator is good for at least 5 -10 smokes if its cleaned regularly…but we’ll see 😊😉

Love me sum pipes! That said....cheers me ol mate! 🥂🥃🍹🍺🍻 [standing by for a tobacco drop...zeplins away! 😋

It sure is my dear Bob 😊👍👍 Something between an unfiltered pipe and the active charcoal filtered pipes…but…my first impression was a good one indeed 😄😉💨💨💨

I love my billiard pipes. I have pipes with the filter inlet but i never put a filter in because i like the light draw. Ill have to try out a brigham at some point. Nice Video!

Thanks Jason 😊👍👍 The draw in my Brigham pipe is like an unfiltered pipe..almost better…those maple distillator tubes seem to work well for a cool, dry and tar-free smoke…without a flavor penalty that you get with filter cartridges 😊😉💨💨💨

Lovely. Reminds me of the beautiful burr walnut on my first piano. I shall keep an eye out for those pipe cleaners - they’ll be much better for my fountain pens. Modern chenille pipe cleaners are a bit rubbish for that.

I haven’t tried those fluffy Brigham pipe cleaners yet in my pipes…but…I could image they are good for other purposes…like…my Walther PPK handgun…my Smith&Wesson revolver…or…the temporal cosmic dust filter in my Tardis 😄😁😉

Good morning Lester, a mighty fine pipe indeed, excellent lighting to show the grain, any tips on what you do for that would be gratefully received. As a non filter pipe smoker that colluded definitely be a pipe for me 😊

Hi Bob my’ol mate 😊👍👍 I use my office room desk with a tilting desk lamp, using daylight on the window and the room light too..that floods the room with light and for close-ups I position the tilting lamp 😊 My impression is that Brighams pipes are in the middle between unfiltered and charcoal-filtered pipes…thar way…I think they will appeal to both pipe smoking categories…having the advantages of unfiltered and filtered pipes in one pipe! 😄😉

@RedcoatsReturn
@RedcoatsReturn 11 месяцев назад
Thank you Jose 😊👍👍 I don‘t anything about those tobaccos…but it doesn‘t surprise me that Turkey has their own blends…with all those meerschaum pipes and theier fine oriental Izmir tobacco grown there. Here‘s what I found… www-gladoratobacco-com.translate.goog/urunler.html?_x_tr_sch=http&_x_tr_sl=tr&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc

I’m delighted with mine 😊 Some comments on this video indicate the distillators can get hard to remove as they swell up. I’ll try to remove it tomorrow after drying over night. Otherwise, I was impressed with my first smoke in a Brigham pipe 😄😉👍👍💨💨💨
