Ok, I’m not sure where you get your facts for Glocks being faster so here’s my experience: I joined USPSA in 1995 and also became an RO. Since then I’ve earned a GM in Limited and an M In Production with a Glock 17. In those years I’ve RO’d at every match I’ve shot and seen thousands shooters with all kinds of guns. I also ran quals and training at Arlington PD for 20 years where we issued Glocks. I ran quals at DHS for 4 years and then the SO I retired again from…. Glocks are not faster. I can’t seem to get videos to post here but I have many sub 3 second “draw, fire 1, slide lock reload, fire 1 more” videos but I also have a video of myself shooting a G17 nearly as fast. It’s not the gun, it’s the skill of the shooter but I’ll go faster any day with a 2011…..there are no issues with the staccato guns…

As a long time shooter with 20+ years of military police experience, the glock is quicker into action than any other platform. I love my 1911’s but the safety is a detriment yet necessary for the platform. Nice video and presentation of two models that compete with each other. Keep posting your experiences! Subbed.

Thank you sir. Just want to put out fair comparisons which is what we don't really see on this platform. More to come...

Many 2011 shooters shoot as fast or faster than any GLOCK. It’s the shooter, not the gun..

@@micknelson8991 Mmm... Let's look at that. Wondering what their setup is. Sure the 2011 trigger is super fast, but I would love to see a video comparing the mag exchanges between the two on lock back. I'm aware you should never lock back during competitions. Possibly intermediate to advance shooter running the test. I have the Glock winning by tenths of a second. Tenths matter. Thanks for commenting.

@@micknelson8991 I was speaking to faster into action, draw and present. IMO nothing does this as fast as a Glock or clone. 2011 trigger reset is the same as a 1911…very fast. And yes, always the shooter, not the gun.
@micknelson8991
@micknelson8991 5 месяцев назад
@@jimipickle8355 Well Jim, that just isnt true. If you play the video, theres a 64 year old man shooting a hostage taker in .99 seconds from hands down with a high ride holster....And no, the trigger reset isnt nearly as fast. Mine reset within a 1/10th of an inch and NO Glock does that. remember, a Glock must pull AND release the striker where on a 2011 the trigger ONLY trips the sear!

Sir, the proper way to release the slide on a staccato is using your support side thumb. No need for an extended slide release. The mag release will break in after time. No need to change any parts

Go for it. Like I said, the guns build quality is superb. The ergo's will be the same on the XC but with a lighter trigger pull weight and the comp. Enjoy it when you get it. Make the changes you need and run the hell out of it. Thanks for commenting. Peace

Bottom line here......Gypsyman, you went to your first competition. Did you get all your hits? You didn't get DQ'd? You didn't get hurt? You made new friends! YOU WIN!!!! If you go to a USPSA match and tell them you're new, you'll likely get some decent folks to coach you along as far as rules and shooting tips. Get in a squad with Ms or GMs and watch what they do and ASK QUESTIONS! ........YOU WIN!!!!

Couldn't you just train to use the slide release with your left hand as you come up after you've inserted a new mag? If it's too slow for competition then upgrade it I guess. Besides the slide release on a 1911 was never built to be used with your shooting hand.

I think you said you've "been competing for some years now." Which sport and what classifications do you hold? In USPSA I have a GM in LIMITED (high 98%), M in L-10 (92%), M in OPEN (91%) as well as Ms in Single stack and Production. What is yours?????

You must have a blocker on your tube as it wont post any of the videos I have to prove my points....NOT just my opinions, I've seen this for over 40 years. Production class is ruled by CZ and their clones now with Glocks far behind for a reason. Glocks aren't as fast as you think. As far as your dissertation about the magazines, APD they started issuing Glocks in the early 90s, we had boxes of mags pulled from the street because the mag detent notch on the mag for the mag catch is plastic and wore out frequently. I have the same 2011 mags I started USPSA with in '95 that still work fine....They're steel! If you just want to say "I LIKE GLOCKS BETTER", then do that but I have empirical evidence to show they are definitely not superior to the 2011. More and more Agencies are allowing the 2011s in with LAPD leading the pack along with some Feds. Speaking of Feds, the DHS contract I worked on issued an HK pistols because the Glock lost out to it......The problem with both guns is the users messing with them...LEAVE THEM ALONE! It wont post for some reason but I have a drill called the triple7@7 where you draw and engage 3 IDPA targets with 7 rounds each at 7 yards for 21 rounds. I typically run it in the high 4 second range with very few Cs if any.....That is with my duty 2011 I had before the Staccatos came out. You wont find many, if any Glock shooters who will do that with a duty gun.........

It is what it is. Competition aside because at your level it all come down to the shooter. We've both beat shooters with staccato and cz's I'm sure. I'm just doing it with a Glock. And possibly you have lost a few matches to glock shooters surely. Competution aside if shtf...ill be using a Glock. But it's a privelege to have both platforms; so, I have options. Glock is my combat choice. Heck, I like and love both platforms but for different reason. I'm sure the link you are sending can upload. I would love to see it and try the drill. Peace...and like always thank you for your feedback. Honored to have this convo with a GM.

@@Gypsyman40 I have two close friends who are also GMs. 1 in Production shooting a 17, 1 in Limited shooting 35......Both have modified their triggers but cant shoot .12 splits with me. Its just not as fast. Theyre both a couple years younger but not by much. The Production guy is fast out of the holster but I get past him after that as he HAS to shoot As or lose too many points plus he had to shoot 10 round mags. The Limited guy is a big guy who admittedly had trouble with the recoil when we started, as we were shooting the 175 PF then and the extra recoil in the Glock hurt him. He got faster when the PF went to 165! We shot the Dallas Pistol Club Plate matches with our normal equipment except the Limited guy, he went to a 34 and is an unbelieveable "point shooter" as I swear he wasnt using his sights sometimes. Like shooting Skeet, where I am a "AA 12 gauge" shooter (98%), the heavier gun helps not only in transitions but in splits as well. The 36 oz gun doesnt jump around as much. I cant post videos from FB on here (?) or I would post a 30 round burst from a real Glock 18 that was a BEAST to control....I also have a drill labeled "Triple7@7" where you fire 7 rounds at each of 3 targets from the draw at 7 yards. I normally run it in the high 4s with maybe a couple points down with a 9mm 2011. I haven found a Glock guy like my two buddies who can get under 5 seconds.....I cant get that video to post here either...?
