The only thing I am concerned about that may vary from someone like yourself, vs other’s in my case, is our atmosphere. I for example live in a town between fresno and Los Angeles and it’s horrible, over 100 degrees all summer, bad air, lots of bad people, no inspiration, only things to do here are go to restaurants and socialize, or shop and blow money. Too hot most the time to do all the out door stuff, and when you do you have to get out of the town closer to the mountains or something, even the nice river walk area here has been allowed to dry up from water concerns. Then, most peopl around here are like me, grueling 8-5 jobs with shit pay and unreal expectations. Can’t afford to move anywhere else, parents still here and now my sister moved to Sacramento, so now I’m even more here for my family. So much angst everywhere, homeless or thief tweakers all over, horrible drivers tailgating, running lights, street racers everywhere, unless your wealthy and stay in your nice gated community and block it all out, or can afford the country clubs and such, your stuck out here in depressing angst land of zero inspiration and stimulation. Majority of us can’t get out of here, unless of course we leave our loved ones, and go rent or get roommates, well at 47 like me and wanting to be close to those who love me, since it’s so hard to find now days, it’s just rough out there. So yeah, you’ve done amazing, very happy and proud of you. However if you have tips for ppl that aren’t their own business owners, who can’t take long time off, or get into those more rewarding and calming atmospheres and such, then we’re all ears. Like I wish I could drive 10 miles to the beach right now, or go to an outdoor area where people meet up and inspire eachother, exercise, things like that, but it’s just not the case for most. Anyways, sorry, hope you see my point, in no way am I trying to dumb down your success, you deserve yours, you did great.

I totally hear that and you're right everyone is in different circumstances with different values, personalities, commitments, resources, privileges, atmospheres etc. I will say that it was definitely hard to leave my friends and family when I moved overseas. I chose to move to a more inspiring place with better weather. And doing that meant I chose to leave people behind. I wasn't right, wrong or good, bad, it's just what I did... I don't necessarily think in terms of "success" as judged on the outside --- I see success more as having the courage to be ourselves. So if that means staying near loved ones etc then that IS successful. Of course our environment influences us tremendously, body, mind and soul. The heat you mentioned sounds intense as well as thief tweakers etc... For someone like me, super sensitive and off of benzos and booze, I need to have a spiritual practice (solo time connecting to my soul like meditation, journaling, gratitude etc) regardless of my external environment. As far as a tip for non business owner who isn't able to change their environment... I think it comes down to working to change mentality. Like those extreme examples of Viktor Frankl and Nelson Mandela, where despite horrific externals, an internal state was achieved. Of course those are extreme examples.... When I first moved to Bali and people called me Lucky etc I would always say, "It's paradise, NOT perfection" because no matter where we go we bring our mentality. And regardless of where we are, a practice that includes feeling GRATITUDE helps us feel better while also changing our neuronal pathways.... I still need my basic practices to enjoy life, like meditation, gratitude, etc, regardless of where I am. Not sure if any of this helped or made sense, I just appreciated your in depth comment and wanted to reply :)
