Hi Paige, I’d like to give you some advice on social situations which really helped me: Everybody is way too busy with how they’re perceived by others, to be noticing how you’re socially interacting. Besides, look at it from the other side: when you see someone being silent for a moment or standing alone, what do you think? Probably not something like he/she is weird or a loser or whatever. So people won’t think that of you too. Love from the Netherlands!

New experiences are always scary, but conferences are meant to be fun! I'm glad you got over your butterflies and seem to have had a good time 😄

Paige, even if it might be nerve wrecking to go your first conference, you did it and you had fun.

I always dread conferences until I get there then I actually kind of like the break from routine. The one big thing I do is make sure to stay close enough to be able to pop into my room during the day if needed that way if I need a quick break/breather I can get it and I can change clothes when I need to without having to carry everything with me.

I went to a conference with the team I was interning with about 4 months ago and really enjoyed it. I am in my final year of Law School and it really motivated me to keep going and reach the finish line. It was really nice getting to talk to other attorneys who worked in the field I want to go into and the talks were very informative (I was also taking a lot of notes). I was a bit anxious in the beginning but my team had saved me a seat during breakfast and then we all got to sit together during the information sessions (so it ended up being a lot less nerve racking). By the end of the day I had warmed up considerably and networked with quite a few attorneys during the evening cocktail hour. I have also used the knowledge I gained in the informational training sessions on various occasions. Altogether it ended being a great experience. I'm 23 and watching your videos makes me really excited to graduate and begin my professional career. I really love watching you navigate being a young professional. Thank you for showing us all that it is ok to be nervous and that it is ok to not know things.

As a young professional....you are fully qualified. Stand tall, you belong. As for the content brief...very interesting. Again, the business is very fortunate to have you. Keep us posted. :o)

I take videos and photos at conferences, too sleepy to meticulously take notes. But you're right, not many people seem to take notes (in my case for software engineering conferences). To be fair there's limited time to explain a topic so you only get key ideas and references to learn more. So a couple of photos of slides is enough. In terms of joining a conversation and making connections, the great thing is everyone is just happy when others are interested in their work, even if they're doing something completely different. They've come to share ideas after all, so people tend to be approachable.

Tip for going to conferences…always say yes to the hotel (especially if it’s all expenses paid). I know you got to stay with your parents whilst you were there. but, it’s not very often you get ‘perks’ when it comes to work. So always say yes. You don’t have to worry about trains or other modes of transport after the conference has finished (or after conference events) and you actually get more work down as well if needs be. Well that’s how I’ve always treated them anyway.

I am loving watching your young professional videos, as I am still a student and it makes me excited to finish my studies and start a career. Also for video Ideas, I love your vlogs and would enjoy seeing more house stuff/household/freetime/reading/learning adult things content in these vlogs.

I visited London, Brighton and Cambridge on my first trip to UK end of 2018 (November-ish). Brighton because my then-boyfriend-now-husband used to study there at Bellerby's and Cambridge because he applied to Jesus College after Bellerby's. It's nice to see that Brighton has not changed much! I didn't know about your channel then (only ran into your channel when COVID started). I could have sworn I vaguely recalled sitting next to a brunette in a bright pink hoodie with your current set of spectacles in Starbucks in Cambridge (because it was winter and I wanted their eggnog latte), running through some equations. For all I know, it could be you!

I'm in med school (soon starting to work as a doctor) so my life is pretty different to yours I'd say :D but I always enjoy your content and learning about other people's work and careers. Although I didn't understand much of what you talked about in the end of the video, but I still listened to it out of curiosity! The terminology is so different and interesting, it's really a whole other universe!

The grad cohort at my company have to plan a conference for Spring next year. I doubt many of us have ever been to a conference. I really don't want to do it but there are a few of us who are eager. I have it in mind it will suck since I, and I imagine all of us, don't even know what to expect at a conference.

Attended the 2023 annual conference from Canadian Institute of Actuaries two weeks ago. Pretty fun to meet other people around and travel to a place I have never been before, i.e. Halifax. My first ever conference as well!

Paige, you are doing so great!! Hmm, OK your colleagues are asking you for notes, that's interesting. I wonder why they don't take them then ask for yours. When you're young and new, I guess there's not much you can do about this, however, you're nobody's admin. There's bound to be some way of getting this message across in a diplomatic way, for example "I'd be pleased to, however, my notes are very specific to my own specialisation, so they might not be so useful for you! (smiley face as you say it). Believing in you, and excited for your journey! 🥰

Although ... maybe having a room at the conference hotel would have been nice, to refresh & change clothes, socialize after dinner, avoid commute, etc.
