This series was filmed back in September, but was in the same damaged hard drive, as my content from the Philippines! This will only be a short 5 video series, as I'm currently in Egypt and these videos will be starting to come out next week! I hope you guys enjoy these videos and I look forward to sharing Egypt with you and will start publishing as soon as I am out of the country. (for security reasons of course) I appreciate you all so much and thanks for showing love. I hope you all understand. Aloha Chris, as a local born and raised (and still) here on Oahu let me tell you that the island is not just Waikiki and has SO MUCH more to offer and many other fun stuff to do than Waikiki! I know you need to do the tourist stuff (which is also fun and I do sometimes myself) but next time you come back venture out to the west side, hit up a "locals" mall "pearlridge shopping center" or even the west side for even more stunning beaches...anyways, another fun and entertaining video my man!

In a tourist area, anywhere in America, super high prices are normal because tourists will buy just about anything….and will usually stay inside the tourist bubble. Eat outside the tourist area, and always have a hotel room with a kitchen so you can cook, or at least save leftovers from takeout in the fridge and eat that for two days… make sure it’s something savory.

I love Hawaii specially Oahu. I will be back on July. Is been 7 years since I was back. Last year I did the big island, 3 years ago I did Maui, but Oahu is my favorite 😍.

I've been to Oahu 10 times and something stands out to me every time I'm in Honolulu and Waikiki and that is just a general peaceful feeling. People are happy and it doesn't feel like a big city. I love that island so much! You can feel the aloha there.

WoW! You made it to my home! Just a FYI "the Big Island" is actually Hawaii Island. The Island of Oahu is called"the Gathering place" because over 80% of All of Hawaii's population is on the Island of Oahu. They all have different names. So excited to see you made it Hawaii! @travelwithchris

A bit of history. In the 1900's, Way before Hawaii became a state. The Moana Surfrider Hotel was the first Hotel built on Waikiki Beach. And Waikiki itself, in short, was a swamp land. That is why the Ala Wai canal was built. To drain the wetlands and ponds. Another oldie is "The Pink Palace of the Pacific" - The Royal Hawaiian. (The pink looking hotel.) And then comes The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. In 1957, two years before Hawaii became the 50th State, The International Market Place (IMP) was built with mix bars, shops and eateries. Note: Also, around the early 1900's, Diamond Head was purchased by the U.S. Government for military use. Constructing Gun emplacements and building a tunnel entry through the North wall of the crater. Building bunkers in and around the rim. Yeah, the history is pretty interesting. And oh btw, Oahu is not called The Big Island. Hawaii Island is "The Big Island". Oahu is more like, "The Gathering Place". Maui - The Valley isle. Kauai - The Garden Isle. Kahoolawe - The Target Isle, because the military used to use the island as bombing practice. Bro, there's so much history. The 1800's too! 1893 to be exact! And I'll stop right there. Lol Peace out! Waikiki is cool for a day but it's basically like Vegas on the beach. The rest of Oahu is great particularly the north shore. We got a one bedroom condo on the beach in Haleiwa for $150 a night 5 years ago. Full kitchen to save on meals. You can drive to spots where you're the only person in eye sight. Hopefully you discovered Kono's while you were there. Best breakfast burrito ever. PS I live in belmont heights.

I've been to Oahu a couple of times. It's all so beautiful! But my personal favourite part was the North Shore. I love its hippy and happy vibe with little indie shops and restaurants that add color to the road. I also love the way the ocean moves there. It's nice to look out and get inspired. The road itself is so lovely and it has much more nature and trails than touristic waikiki. I didn't see any of the posh shops up there, which makes it more natural, mystical and lovely.

We’re Aussie and recently spent five weeks in the USA, resort fees were a killer! We had two rooms at every hotel (family of six) and moved every four nights, so the resort fees added up very quickly! We don’t have resort fees here thank goodness! We spent some time at Huntington Beach, awesome area! We stayed at Beachomber on the way home and yeah! Can confirm, it’s a fab place to stay!

I believe resort fees are a workaround Freon paying transient accommodation taxes. In Hawaii, the transient accommodation tax is applied to the room charge and not the resort fee.

The island you’re at now is Oahu. The city you’re in is Honolulu which is the state capital of Hawaii. Hawaii is made up of 8 islands. So specifically, when people say they’re in Hawaii only locals would know what island you’re in. But Oahu is the island to experience every taste of Hawaii. I recommend everyone to visit the NorthShore of Oahu to experience beautiful beaches and amazing food with a variety of lunch wagons for a stretch of miles 🤙🏽

Hi Chris! The Moana Surfrider Hotel was Waikiki's first hotel built in 1901. Originally, Waikiki Beach was a swampland where fresh water from the mountains mixed with the seawater. Sand was actually shipped in from California to create the sandy beach for tourists to enjoy. Today, new sand is dredged from the ocean bottom to replace sand that has eroded away. I've visited Hawaii over 20 times over a 25 year period. I was last there March 2021 before I got my first Covid vaccine. It was a risk but well worth it!

You have convinced me to visit Honolulu. Love this video because you showed me the nice shops, clean streets, a beautiful beach. I have been the big island of Hawaii and yes I learned food and drinks are double California prices. But the higher the prices keeps out the rift raft. I appreciate luxury environments and I will pay the price for it. Yes you mentioned the tree. Its called the Banyan tree. I learned that it was a gift from another country to Hawaii and became quite an invasive breed of trees almost plague like. Very cool looking trees though. On the big island you will see them alot. I have a timeshare and this island is always available to me. I must go check it out now. Thanks Chris!

Chris, the next time you go to Honolulu you should stay at the Hale Koa (military resort) or stay on base since you’re a military vet. The nightly rates are much cheaper and it will save you a ton of money.

haha I used to live in long beach. Only for a year. Moved inland 3 years ago bc of the cheap interest rates. And yes, snoop dog was in Hawaii at that time (last month). E komo mai 🤙! Cheesecake factory in Waikiki is a no go. The cheesecake factory in Kapolei is hands down better and it serves brunch on Saturday & Sunday until 2pm. If that is too far, you can hit up Legend Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown, best dim sum spot. Craving for vietnamese banh mi - Le’s Banh Mi. Korean Fried Chicken - Itchy Butt. Morimoto Asia restuarant in Wakiki is a must around sunset time - Get the Sticky ribs x 2-3 and Kirin ichiban “frozen beer”. If you guys are trying to find a snorkeling spot, Kate Point Beach Park(Electric beach) is the move. Dolphins, monk seals, sea turtles and the best part is you'll be surrounded by fishes when you swim out to the pipes. Have fun and stay safe!

RECOMMENDATION - rent a vehicle for timeframe of your stay. - drive the island visit a beach a day : - best beach lanakai, can go their every day - walk waikiki at night for the night life:

if you like 'poke' (raw fish), there's pretty good recipes at the supermarket Foodland. actual fish markets (taniokas, tamuras,) and specialty shops (fresh catch, ono seafood) have better quality and prices than waikiki...

Aloha , We live here on Oahu. The prices have went crazy over last 5 years even worst now its getting really hard for alot of people here, and the resort fee is for are fail rail they made lol. Most hotels have 40-50$ daily parking also. The big filipino area is Waipahu. I hope you made it to secluded west side beaches or Kaneohe sand bar..... Come back out, We will take you offshore fishing if you like? can catch some big fish then make fresh poke? Fun fact billboards are illegal in Hawaii ;).

Yoou Got to go Giovanni shrimp shack truck north shores . DOLE PLANTATION and get a pineapple split with pineapple icecream and mango icecream for Gladis . Hit up Hanamabay to snorkel. Hike up Dimond head cool as view from that top . For souvenirs go to swap meet by pearl harbor oh yeah do the pearl harbor tour is really good and sad .

It’s so funny that you say “good to be back in the states” yet as a non-American myself, I always think of Hawaii as not America even though we know that it is. In fact, Hawaii is the only state I’d visit coz in my mind - it’s not America 😂

We used to vacation in old Waikiki in the 70s before it became so built up and it holds some lovely and precious memories for our family. Everyone was always so kind and welcoming. And Maui too! Losing old Lahaina has broken my heart in two ❤. We hope all the wonderful people in Hawaii are doing well and especially the good people on Maui!

Aloha Chris welcome to Hawaii! If you’re up for a catamaran ride go check out my brother David who’s a captain on the Kepo’ikai 2 catamaran. You’ll find them on the beach behind Duke’s restaurant which is in the Outrigger Beach Hotel. They have a white hull with blue & white sails. They often see dolphins during the day while the sunset sail offers a unique way to enjoy a beautiful Hawaiian sunset. Make sure you go see the waves up on the North Shore and make your way around the beautiful east coast. Must sees are Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Culture Center and activities at Kualoa Ranch.
