Honestly, hearing your kid adds authenticity to the video. You're a young father and you should wear it with pride. Fathers are heavily undervalued these days, be proud man.
@@MartialMind I’m 23 with two young children of my own, love all of your content man. I’ve loved the ufc and martial arts in general for as long as I can remember but as a kid my family could never afford to put me in any classes. Watching these videos has convinced me to sign up at my local academy! Keep it up man
For fight purposes, like if you switch into MMA, it’s crucial to have that survival skill. Like you said “just not get submitted.” For bjj tournaments you might want to think of some traps to set up. Flow around and conserve energy, then if he takes the bait, explode into a submission. But even if there’s no substitute for hard work, gotta enjoy those vacations and time with family bro! Thanks for the great content. Came for the UFC gameplay, staying now for the grappling. You can branch out into other content too for sure. Your mind definitely works analytically, and you bring a great deal of charisma too.
Martial, you're doing well on the discipline, every loss will only make you stronger. you're already doing well at blue belt, now imagine once you get to black belt. keep your head high, king! it's only up from here
Martial, I’ve watched you and your channel for undisputed such a long time ago. The channel growth is good to see as I’m still here of course. Seeing this and your life evolve is amazing. Been really wanting to pursue Jiu Jitsu for a while and seeing this and you do so well is really awesome. Very happy for you and your jiu jitsu path! Thank you for your content and education in martial arts, love the channel
@14:45 when he goes from mount to knee on belly, you only get points if you improve your position and you need to establish the position for 3 seconds. So improving positions go from knee on belly > mount > back. You don’t gain points from going back > mount > knee belly. You can jump back and forth from mount and knee on belly and gain points from mount only as long as you establish 3 second control in each position.
Damn i just arrived home from my first competition at blue belt too, but in brazil instead I scored 2nd place and guy on the final really outclassed me I felt way more calm and collected compared to my first comp at white belt where i got choked out at the first 2 minutes of the first match
Love that you're sharing this journey with us. just my 2 cents with love, I suggest you get the surgery. Recovery times are for the average, not the dedicated. i would bet that you would come back stronger and better much faster than you think. sharpen all your tools right. mind, BODY and soul. plus the recovery will have many valuable lessons it can teach as well. best of luck with whatever you chose my man. either way i love watching your journey and wish you the best.
Hey brother, congrats on the blue and on this tournament! Closed Guard is one of my fav positions, I'm lucky to have began learning it from day 1 at my school. I noticed at @21:58 you had a chance for an arm drag. Super deadly move that opens up the back or sweeps! Great content, love the commenting and narration. Best of luck with your shoulder and in your BJJ journey!
Thank you! Closed guard is something I've neglected a lot because De La Riva and X guard and single leg X and all that is so much more fun. But I'm now realizing, that it's probably one of the best guards ever in BJJ and I'm done neglecting it.
Great match. I am half guard/deep half player myself and I think you did awesome job. First match was just domination. When I saw faded blue belt on 2nd match I knew it wouldn’t be easy. Considering he was smashing you, I am surprised you even got to the deep half-ish position. I did few tourney as white belt but I havnt done any as blue. Good luck !!
As I said before martial, stay hungry, stay humble, stay patient, as far as I can see you embody that to the best of your ability, as that's where greatness comes from. Thank you for sharing your outside life with us as well as your gaming content, seeing you as a person striving to achieve your goals and be a father is inspiring truly. Secondly as I have said before and others who enjoy your channel, don't apologize for your daughter man, as someone whose kids have disabilities I learned the hard way you don't have to apologise for your kid being a kid, enjoy it and we enjoy I because it goes faster than you think. Sorry for the long message lol, p.s. don't put off surgeries, the younger you are when you get it taken care of the better chance of recovery.
Oh man, I remember writing that long ass paragraph after that Video where you talked about that „talk“ with your coach, regarding your „potential“ and back then I wrote a lot about how you’re in my opinion a far better and superior fighter than you could ever think about yourself .. and all I gotta say is, it makes me unbelievable happy to see that I was totally right. I’m close to fighting MMA myself again After years of break, and I can’t wait to finally go again. Whatever. Thanks for all these Videos. you‘re a beast dude. wish you none of the best. big thanks for the content always.
I appreciate your vote of confidence dude. Please keep us updated when you do compete and please post your match. I'd love to check it out and maybe even watch it on my channel!
Love it love it love it love it! You look amazing out there even if you got bronze; some people walk away with nothing! Even then you can only go up from here 💯
You did very well for your first blue belt competition. As you train more, you will improve your endurance and your technique. If you want to really test your skills then try a submission only competition after you have been a blue belt for a couple of months, if you can find one near you. With the submission only format and the way that some of these competition do not limit the amount of time a match goes for, the outcome of the match will come down to your endurance and your skills instead of a referee's calls which are sometimes questionable.
As a 4 stripe blue belt myself I fully understand the struggle during a tournament and you're dead tired during a match. My mental fatigued costed me a match I clearly could've won had I just focused on staying on top and keeping my position secured while going for safe attacks
My last tournament I got double silver my first two tournaments didn't go my way but I trained hard and made alot of progress keep it up man proud of you
6 months off is better than risking serious injury and never being able to do it again man but up to you, was very interesting to watch and look forward to see more :)
Hey Martial mind I was wondering if you could try to post more of these because I have always done wrestling and I also did a little bit of karate but I want to learn jujitsu and you video are cool to watch and I also learned a little bit
Careful not to injure yourself more, plenty of guys tuck a bad arm in their belt and roll just fine. You’ll improve your game a lot as long as you have partners that will take care of you, best wishes my brother.
Great job bro! Regarding your injury, what type of S&C do you do? I recommend checking out the guys from Bulletproof for BJJ program cause they have some really good stuff for rehabbing any injuries and injury prevention in general. I’m currently following their program and its been really good plus my body feels great!
@@ivanmaras6566 It generally takes about 10 years. I think that's about how long it'll take me. My guess is I'll be a blue belt for about 3 years. Purple belt for about 2 years and brown belt for about 2 years as well. That'll be about 9 years total of Jiu-jitsu.
I stopped doing jiu-jitsu when I entered middle school cause I had no time and I was very tired but I competed quite a bit i probably have 3 belts from naga and 2 katanas and I got silver at pan kids.I was a solid yellow belt i ended my "legacy" with around 200 something medals after that i started wrestling for a year and a half and I proudly say I definitely do not miss practice for wrestling.
I’m not sure if this is in all tournaments but in most you get knee on belly points by posturing up and posting your back leg out. So that’s why they didn’t give you and the other guy points. Good job on the tournament and keep up the good content!
My only gripe with point based tournaments is besides the triangle in the first match you didn’t attempt any subs. Most people just look for positions for points. While you’re knee slicing into side control the darce is always there. Good stuff though, good control on top and good composure on bottom.
