Your Warlord Civil War infantry stand (with 20 miniatures on it) is the equivalent to 6 stands in Fire and Fury (at 3 figures per stand; see preparing for battle @
I have the first edition of the Brigade rules. Based on your review and flip-through I went ahead and ordered a copy (for when I want to fight those larger battles). Take a look at the regimental rules; you will like them as well.
I have been playing this set since 1999. Yes, it's the best out there. You just have fun and don't worry about what people say. Also the player aid cards, you need a few and it was good you picked up another set. after all these years, this rule set still works day after day. One thing about this hobby and ruleset... you can go down the rabbit hole with this and end up with 10000000 guys on each side :) also, if you end up going to any convention, everyone playing the ACW big games or smaller games, they us this set. congrats on finding out the right set right out of the gate.
Great Video! I'm doing the same sort of thing only using Regimental F&F with my WL Epic figures. I'd love to see more videos on how you adapted the WL bases to the F&F rules after you have more experience playing.
I think you should look at using two Epic stands per brigade instead of one because of the formation rules. Having a single line or supported line is an important part of the combat rules. A major problem with using Epic stands is that the brigades (actually the regiments within the brigades) got smaller as the war progressed, and therefore the frontages also decrease.
Thanks for sharing!! Just a suggestion, if you are going to change the scale that much, you may want to consider another game like altar of freedom which is more suited to 1 stand= 1 brigade. Fire and fury is a great rule set, agreed, it just does different Things for the scale involved
I too have BF&F. Have read it several times, only have a few 15mm figures for both Union and Confederates that are slowly being worked on. I do plan on trying it with just bases to get a grasp of the game.
For multi-corps ACW this is still one of the best and a personal favorite... also do a lot of Black Powder. Question when you played did you play the generic main book or the ACW supplement. If it was the main book thats why it was blah. I mix and match the 2 games on occasion for certain scenarios... FnF was a great choice, enjoy.
