Been waiting patiently for a MotM opening! And this is what is so much fun about a first opening, the prices don't matter, it's all just seeing what is what and taking your time and enjoying the experience. In the end I hope everyone playing has fun with this set.
POA. i'm the most active retired MTG channel out there. edit, you talk about no land cycle in this set. i was very surprised to learn this yesterday when the rest of the world could legally buy it. because there is not land cycle this is not a perfect set. it's very good. the ultra lite, watered down, comes into play tapped duals are here but at least in the set boosters have a rarity more of uncommon it seemed.
I have also seen several boxes opened by the same person, but I don't know if he got a case or random boxes, and he pulled several companions from each box. It seemed like a lot to me, but I haven't seen enough boxes opened to get an idea of how common that is.
Tolvada is the plane Kaya is from. It was only mentioned in the war of the spark story I've also been lukewarm about this set some cards seem cool but I'm gonna have to try them out. Some of the multiverse treatments are really cool though I love the Teysa
So far there is a big foil mulpltiplier, specially for cards from the set because it is hard to pull cards from the set with all the multiverse legends in the collector packs
Half of the Companion Cycle are good cards, Ragavan is a strong card, I think Rona, Disciple of Gix should have been reprinted over Sheoldred’s faithful. Kenrith is hiding in the set somewhere. And a lot of these Multiverse Legends cards are either powerful commanders on their own or great in the 99. It’s a great way to get some classic Commanders just as Strixhaven provided great spells and made them cheap and BRO provided great Artifacts and made them cheap. It’ll be Planeswalkers next
One of the guys at my pre-release event yesterday here in Perth Australia cracked a collector box and pulled a serialised Atraxis! Was a very fun moment for all of us watching. I really like this set.
Love your videos, just a tip for the double sided cards I saw from another channel. Turn the all rest of the pack around, so it's on the bottom, then slide it out to show the other side. That way you don't need to reveal the next card. Not a big deal, just a tip 🥰
My third collector pack got a serialized Elesh norn :/ my lucks done ! Then opened a captain lannery serialized, all from loose packs. My collector box had two foil ragavan, foil elesh, and halo foil Niv. It was an insane night.
was opening a box myslf while watching and I opened a sheoldred whispering one right as you did, pretty wild lmao. halo foil teysa is at the top of my list for most wanted cards also, such a gorgeous card, and that ravnica showcase frame is chef's kiss! the halo foiling seems to pop more on cards like that with lighter backgrounds as well
I am mixed on this set. I love Phyrexians and the invasion with so many compleated beings from all over. But they also dropped the ball on the alt- treatments and killed certain characters in flavor text which was really lame. I also think the "team ups" are lame as they are just usually two individuals from the past slammed into one card, its pretty boring. And I was BAFFLED that they didn't follow up with the rest of the land cycle from the last set. But I am interested in Incubate as a mechanic. I am not a huge fan of artifacts, but i think Incubate will allow me to make a Phyrexian tribal deck without needing to rely on infect and piss everybody off.
I think the flavor is done well on the Team Up Cards, for one thing they are all from the same Planes, so it isn’t like they wouldn’t meet irl since they’re all Legendaries, there’s also the issue that if Phyrexia isn’t defeated, the Multiverse ends, which would lend to some very unlikely alliances, as the old adage goes, “the enemy of my enemy, is my friend” so I’m all for the frenemies unite cards
@@KCEBGaming Im fine with the idea of the team ups, i just think the cards themselves are really lazy. Like they are just the two legendaries smashed into one card, it's not all that interesting.
@@zeleros4027 I dunno, Surrak and Goreclaw are a pretty interesting team up considering there’s a card out there where Surrak is punching Goreclaw in the face
@@KCEBGaming Like I said, its not the flavor of the team ups, its the cards mechanically. Like Thalia and the Gitrog, flavor wise it may be cool, mechanically its just a Thalia card and a Gitrog card put into one card instead. They could have made it do something completely new with them putting their powers together for something different instead of lazily fusing two cards together.
I've said it before, but I'm gonna say it again: nobody does piles like PoA! This is the first opening of this set where I actually get to see a good layout of the cards. Chef's kiss, as always! Also, I agree that too many companions in the back slot is a feels-bad. The problem is there's only 45 multiverse legends cards at R/M, and freaking 10 of them are all companion cards. Glad you got a nice variety of different showcase frame treatments in your back slots though!
