Displaying my first new motorcycle Installing a Puig Touring Screen Installing a phone mount Installing the comfort seat Installing a tail bag Installing a rear fender eliminator kit
I have a 2014 Yamaha Bolt. I love it, but I sold my R3 and want that "in-between" bike that can rip in city streets or do long distances as well. Really sold on the 2021 grey with the red
Awesome bike. I bought a 22 in this color in August 2022. No dealers within hours of me had any available, only a waiting list. I finally found one at a dealer about 350 miles away. Made the trip because there was some riding season left and I didn't want to wait. No regrets. Awesome bikes, especially for their price point. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy and ride safe.
Cool video. Thanks for look at Puig windscreen. Exactly what I plan to get. I’m sticking it out and waiting for the 23 version mainly for quick shifter. But also looking forward to having TFT for the first time.
thank you so much for making this video. I want this bike as my first ever bike, I also wasn't sure how to go about the problems that would come with this bike. By adding the mods into the video you made me think about other things for the bike that I may need as well. Thank you so much!
I think this gentleman just set a world record in key placement 5:25 :))) Seriously though I'm really looking forward to this build! I'm patiently waiting on my 23 but might just "settle" for a 21 or 22. Subscribed!
Nice Bike! Just signed up for the class, im going to start with an MT 03 same color. Hope to get to this in a few years. I have never ridden a motorcycle before. Love the mods, its perfect.
I had been using the Puig screen for a while, but as a taller rider, I realized that it was directing wind straight into my face which was quite bothersome when I had my visor up. So, I switched to the Puig mid-height screen, and it has made a world of difference.
Man I'm in northwestern Kentucky. On the Ohio river. I just got back from a good long ride in southern Indiana on my 2021 MT07. You are right, I have never had a bad time on the this bike. I'm about 5 to 6 hrs from the Tail also. I like my Puig touring screen on my bike.
The YAMAHA MT07 for being one of the best brands in the world, for its prestige and for what it represents among bikers, must have 3 elements that other brands have incorporated into their models of the same or similar displacement, such as: Reverse bars, clutch anti-rebound and Quickshifter.
Mirror clamp and Quadlock phone mount means no removal of throttle etc. Quick shifter on my 2023 is fantastic, makes riding so easy. Added USB outlets to feed phone on Quadlock mount and camera, radiator guard essential for stones, also Pyramid Plastics fender extenders, bike stays cleaner.
I have the same windshield on mine, I love the look of it but I wish they would make it in a smoke finish. I tried to make one out of lexan but it is so hard to form it without a mould to clamp it into.
my 2022 Icon Blue MT07 also has the Rokform phone mount & the Puig windscreen.... i also switched out my stock seat the first day to a 950.oo Corbin w/ a sissy bar...it's thicker & looks cool AF.
I’m strongly considering getting the 2023 or 2024 MT07. The dealership I’ve been getting bikes from always sells the bikes I buy for $7995 so I thought “why not just get a brand new bike at this point”. It’ll be odd going from the inline 4 sound that I know and love, but it’ll be nice knowing someone has never thrashed my bike. Also, I read in the owners manual that regular 86 is recommended, any reason you chose premium?
very interesting set up for the phone mount. I am thinking of doing something similar. Aren't you worried about vibration ruining the phone camera? Awesome video and bike, just got a preowned 2020 and very excited for the upcoming warm weather
I have not heard of vibration harming the camera or phone. I’ve always had my phones mounted in similar ways on my previous bikes. I can totally recommend! I do use my phone camera for work everyday at the dealership - haven’t noticed any problems with it 🤙🏾
@@andyspeedshop Awesome, I know rockform and quadlock have their own vibration dampeners that you can buy and it goes inbetween the phone and the actual mount. But the biggest concern is the vibration messing with the cameras internal image stabilization
I purchased a 2022 MT-07 this past December because I didn’t want a 2023 with the new TFT display. I prefer the 2021-2022 display over the others. The new display is too small IMO. Also, I don’t need smart phone connectivity and all that crap. I like to focus on riding my motorcycle, not my smartphone. I’m glad I found a 2022 MT-07. It took quite a bit of searching to find the color (black) I wanted. I’m almost finished with all the mods I wanted to do. I have one more minor mod left. I ordered a headlight guard, which is on backorder.
Fantastic value for money especially with £600 free accessories offer....great Road 5 tyres, nice soundtrack but quickshifter is UP only and no autoblipper...
Hi great vid i hope i can buy this bike this year had blades and r1 in the past recently got back into road bikes bought a new svartpilen but think i went to small so if i get the right deal will be getting a mt07 👍
I was waiting for 8 months for the mt07, I said fuk it and got a new gsx8s, brand new. 1 week ago. Honestly, I made a good choice. All blacked out version.
Yeah that is a great color config and you definitely want front and back dashcam recorders on there bro, cars are giving bikes less and less respect out there on the road 🏍️💥🚙 and they're doing it on purpose now. Another RU-vid biker was purposely hit not to long ago, thankfully him nor the bike were injured both being able to ride off into the sunset 🌄🏍️
I just subscribed because I heard a two stroke dirt bike 😂🥂👍⚡🤙😃🏍️ I want a mto7 so bad for this summer but idk if I'll get it I already have to much stuff.
I just bought a brand new 2023 MT07 in blue. I had a MT09 a few years back and I think the MT07 is much better bike. I am thinking about doing some light touring on my MT07 as well.
I've also just bought a 2023 MT-07....makes me smile everytime I take it out! However, 72 horses aren't enough and the MT-09 looks too similar...so....that just leaves the Street Triple RS or Streetfighter V2 as the next bike
Well Andy I just found your video I have a vstrom 650 love it but after 19,000 miles and me getting a little older I am I was looking for something lighter and I am considering MT07 or Kawasaki Vulcan s 650? Big weight difference about 70lbs. I saw some of your mods you did very nice. I know it’s been awhile since you posted this video but has your opinion changed at all?
I haven’t changed my opinion at all! I’m fact I just came home from a 1,100 mile trip (3 days) and it did well! My wife commented too, that this is my first bike in 12 years of riding that I haven’t complained of being sore after our annual Tail of the Dragon ride! I am lucky to test drive many makes and models of bikes due to my job as a Powersports tech. Sometimes I see stars when hopping down from a BMW GS or a Harley Street Glide…but as soon as I throw the leg over my 400lbs machine all that goes away. It’s just so light and easy to ride and the torque makes sure you’re never bored!
very nice contribution, and really nice bike! (i have a 2020 and truly love it too) one curiosity if i may ask: what is that thing you keep on the throttle knob? TIA ✌
Congrats with your mt07, i have the exact same bike. I have done a lot of mods, but not done the seat. Is the comfort seat a bit higher then the original?
i had to wait 3.5 months on my 2022 MT07 & after watching a LOT of videos on youtube i ordered a 1,000.xx Corbin seat & sissy bar.....changed the seat the first day i brought it home....it's thicker & softer & looks a LOT nicer......i'm a single man so the bike is kinda like my wife....i'll spend money on her....
Hello from Scotland Andy. I’ve owned a 2021 VStrom 650 XT for 2 years this April coming. I love it but I’m strongly considering an MT07. I’ve had a 2014 MT09 and a 2019 Tracer 900 GT before but I’m a torque guy, I love twins, my first 3 bikes were Honda shadows. How are you finding moving from the strom to the 07. I did test ride a tenere and when I got back to the dealership I told the guy I wasn’t blown away and I think that’s because the strom and the tenere are realistically the same bike to an extent. I tour Europe once a year but want a bike for the fun weekend rides (to accompany the he Grom) that will do the 1 euro trip a year. What you getting out of a tank mileage wise?
Going from the Vstrom to the MT07 makes me feel like I’m on a track bike 😁 - the weight difference is incredible - the MT definitely has more torque and a better sound. My first bike was a Shadow 1100, then I had an Intruder LC 1500, then the Vstrom to the MT. The MT is certainly the most enjoyable bike I’ve owned. Mileage wise - I haven’t been keeping track yet. Once the engine is broken in and I’ve done the first service I’ll start keeping track.
Brother, probably the best way to put your phone is on the left side of the haqndlebar, next to the TFT. There are those phone holders that grab your phone from each side and you don't need the special case. I use that one and the phone is put in vertical position... Than you have a normal access to the key... I also have a USB charger on the opposite side from the tft and everything fits perfectly. Oh, and I also have the same Puig windshield as you but I am not sure about it. My height is 182cm and the windshield makes the wind go off my stomach and chest but hits somewhere around neck-lower helmet area and that makes a turbulence... I actually thought about getting that Yamaha one you replaced... Tell me how do you find that comfortable seat in comparison to the stock one, please?
I love having the Rokform case because it has a magnet in it that is useful for non-motorcycle applications. The comfort seat does seem to be a better option. I have not had a lot of time on the seat tho...so my opinion isn't as valuable right now as it might be in a month or two.
@@andyspeedshop you totally should, I've gotten several products from them. I recommend them. You can even get a phone case with a poncho to keep your phone dry in case it rains
Looking to get into the naked bike world but want to get a bike that fits me right. I am 6'3 190 lbs, anyone know if this bike would be big enough for me or should I size up?
I recommend finding one (if you can!) at a dealer and sitting on it. In reviews (revzilla, etc) they claim taller riders should be comfy…but only you can say for yourself really. Find one on a showroom floor and try it on! It sure is a torquey, fun bike!
You said you wanted this as a touring bike in the beginning of the video.Specially coming from a V Strom which has a more relaxed riding position as well as a windshield that actually works, how is this gonna work out ? Naked bike arent really popular for touring both because the riding position and the fact that above 100-110 miles the wind will become you nnumber one enemy.
I’ve clocked 10,000 miles on it. It’s the most comfortable bike I’ve owned in 13 years. I don’t “tour” on interstates. I daily commute the bike. I should do a 10,000 mile review video…but this is the perfect bike (for me anyway)
Two reasons I suppose - #1: Reviews. I have read that people like the more predictable throttle response of the MT07. I am new to this style of bike. Coming from an ADV bike and before that, a big heavy bagger. I’m learning how to do wheelies and ride more aggressively and everyone seems to like the more predictable throttle response over the MT09. #2: Availability - The dealership that I work for has never had an MT09. The MT07 is easier to get for some reason. #3 (bonus) Price!
@@Lek.Scrolling - I should also add, that as a tech I have to test ride every bike after repairs/maintenance. I have the awesome opportunity to test bikes that I would never get to ride! So far the MT07 has left the best impression on me. The weight, the torque, the feeling…I just fell in love!
@@ulyssessait - I bought the bike in January of 23’ - I wanted a 23’ model so badly, but my dealership couldn’t get their hands on one in time. Would be nice to have the larger display and be prewired for the quick shifter. (Those are the only differences in the 22’ and the 23’)
@@ulyssessait - the CB650R is a handsome choice. The inline 4cyl. Of the Honda will be a totally different machine than the parallel twin of the Yamaha. The twin is great for low end torque, wheelies, and fun from 0-90 mph. The Honda 4cyl doesn’t really wake up until you rev it to 10,000 or more! It’s going to come down to your preference of where you want your power. Down low in the revs or way up high in the revs and at 110mph +
@@andyspeedshop oh ok. I have a 2021 in storm fluo. I like cyan storm but not sure if I'm a fan of the large 2023 display. The old display is perfect imo and I think you got a great bike 👍
I don't understand why the manufacturers bother putting on the fenders when they know everyone rips it off the first second they get. They should just offer a bunch of fender eliminators as a stock purchase.
Yamaha does sell a fender eliminator kit - that’s the one that I chose to go with - they realized so many were going to aftermarket fender eliminator kits so they stepped in and started making their own … of course you still have to buy it 🤣
I don't like the engine, it have no soul. Pulls great from down low, but very linear without any bursts in rev range. Thinking great for the city, but not my pick for a fun country road.
Newb here…looking to get one of these as my first bike. What is that “lever” looking thing you have on your right grip? Does that let you rest your wrist while accelerating?
