Great video! I've been a ham for 35+ years, and I think that POTA is one of the best, if not THE best thing to happen to the hobby in a long, long time.

Congrats on your first activation Scott. Great video. I have a renewed interest in amateur radio after I retired last year and POTA seems to be right up my alley. Seeing videos such as yours really motivates me to complete my portable set-up and get out there. Plus....incredible electrical noise as well as signal blocking mountains at my new home QTH forces me to go and find the RF as it's not having much luck finding me! I have made a few trips to some nearby high elevation locations over the past month with fairly good results.....the LOW NOISE FLOOR is awesome :) 73's and I'll look for you on my upcoming POTA adventures -Chris WA7RAR

Nice job I have done 5 parks this pass summer also up in the Adirondacks Soto on the air I have yaesu ft-891 and the wolf river coil nice antennas also have super antenna is nice antenna system to use for this. A good wire antenna to use is packtenna. Thank you and 73 Don

Thanks for the video. It says it’s a year old but it just popped up for me, I’ll go check out your other videos. I just got everything needed to activate parks. I went yesterday to Birch park in Fort Lauderdale, set up my alpha antenna(yes I was conned into buying one) just to realize my coax was not in the bag. I was able to disconnect the cable from my Little Tarheel 2. but it just wasn’t getting out. I decided to do some hunting and managed to get K8MRD in my log that was a highlight. 73, KK4VRP

Nice job Scott! I also have a WRC SB1000 TIA, great antenna for portable use. Only went out to POTA a couple times in 2019(?), but now more settled and found a nice little spot not too far from my house. Hope to get out a couple times before old man winter blows in for real up here in Maine. 73 de K1NKX

Aren't POTA activations fun? I have a WRC antenna, too, and I love it. Great first activation. If I had a park a mile from my home, I would be there very often.

Patapsco, Sandy Point, Point Lookout, and Greenbrier are never good Parks to visit in the summer unless you are there very early.
