By 9, she already had published a book, won Norway's Got Talent, and dropped a couple originals. She is so fortunate to have parents that protect and guide her from the jackals in the industry. As you will discover, she went on to produce more originals, and was a guest contestant on AMG Champions at the ripeold age of 13. Thanks for another good reaction to my favourite singer. She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the musical director, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. Then a brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, a well known and respected Iranian artist, who is also Angelina's maternal grandmother and the person who encouraged Angelina in her love of music, especially jazz. And then there is a shot of Angelina holding a candle upon which was an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on RU-vid. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farci, English and Japanese. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. If a 29-year-old singer had done that, I'd have the same reactions: "This singer has learned her vocal skills so young and uses them so well." If she was 39, I'd guess, "She's had to have 20 years' experience with those vocal skills." IF she was 49, I'd find my expectations still surpassed. You probably can't avoid hearing her more modern work, but she's got some videos at ages 6 and 7 that display even more and different vocal skills. It's not so much her vocal range - which is phenomenal - but her STYLE range, her willingness to learn so many different styles, and deliver them with aplomb. Angelina Jordan is a prodigy let me tell you a little bit more about Angelina Jordan, she started singing at age of 1.5 years, and more than that she started with Billy Holiday Jazz. Angelina speaks 3 languages, designs her own clothes, and has written a very popular book, and like her name she truly is an angel with a heart of gold. Angelina won Norway's got talent when she was 8 years (well worth watching) old Her younger years before age 13 she was watched over by her mother (Sara) and her Uncle who just wanted her to grow up normal. Her mother and uncle Turned down almost 90% of all requests for her to perform but even so from age 7years to 12 years old or so, she has been all over the world (Mother never more than a breath away) Angelina has produced over 130 covers, and she makes all of them her own, all of which will astound you. New people to Angelina get sucked down this road of experience not believing what they're hearing her excellent vocals and unique way of singing, Angelina is a master at music structure her ability to show absolute recognition to a cover while she makes it her own. Angelina writes her own music and produces it. Angelina's mother is Norwegian, her father is from Sweeden The grandmother on her mother's side is from Iran and her grandfather (recently deceased) is from Japan both grandparents are very involved with Angelina's growing up, Angelina's song a million miles is about losing her grandfather.

Angelina befriended the girl and gave the girl her shoes. They prayed for each other and Angelina said she would always remember her. After that experience, she vowed that she would never again wear shoes during performances in remembrance of the young girl and all of those children who have no shoes. She said she would continue to do this until all children of the world have shoes! What’s amazing about Angelina is, here is this little creature who just came into the world and she has a level of creativity and knows exactly what she wants to illustrate her vision, and her artistry is impeccable. This is the beginning of the Rabbit Hole Bunji. Many of us Angel fans have been trapped after this rendition of Screamin Jay Hawkins song. This is her arrangement so you may gather that she is a music genius with and unbelievable voice not heard or seen in decades. If you go back to Norway's Got Talent which she competed in at age 7-8 and actually won that show you may be even more flabbergasted at what you will hear from the prodigy. Not a bad choice to react to Angelina as her Angel fans are millions and millions strong. Great first reaction.

Watching “I Put a Spell on You” as your introduction to Angelina is like getting thrown into the deep end of the pool. But it’s only a small glimpse of her talent. She is, without reservation, the best singer I’ve ever heard. Your reaction is not unusual for a first reaction to Angelina. She covers many genres beautifully and authentically. I don’t know what type of music you like best, but you will find a lot to like. A couple suggestions: watch her cover of Bohemian Rhapsody last year to see her at 13 stunning an audience into silence. If you like jazz, listen to one she just wrote and released: Seventh Heaven.
