Amazing as always my friend, I'm glad to see your boys involved, Our young folks need more of this in their lives to learn the balances of nature in all aspects. Keep it up, Godspeed.
Just teach them its a labor of love and they depend on what we do/ neglect means the end for those who depend on us who have no control over their environment as you know already. Peace my friend, looking forward to the next build or update.@@MDFishTanks
Great looking tank! Look into getting a Goby paired up with a pistol shrimp. They are really wonderful together and your boys will love them.👍🏻 Can’t wait to see what’s to come.
Man it's looking great! That Wyoming Clown is stellar. I am so jealous of your aquariums, and your money to afford them! Someone clearly has has made better life decisions than me along the way!! LOL. It's great to see your kids enjoying the aquarium. Kids have such an open nature about their excitement. I don't know enough about saltwater to recommend your next fish. Perhaps that first one you showed in the video!
Thanks. My tanks cost a lot less than most you see on youtube as a lot of it is DIY. I don't spend money on drinking or clothes or cars as well. It's just about choosing what you want.
I love how you set up the tank with your aquascaping knowledge. Awesome. But one thing though, slow down the flow. Your clownfishes are struggling with it. Also, you may want to secure some of the rocks near the top. Your snails may knock them over. Not gonna be funny when you stock your tank with corals. :)
Being a planted tank guy that you are I'm sure you'll keep on top of the macro algae you added to stop them taking over the whole tank. That hawk fish would most likely eat those cleaner shrimp you were looking at too. The one I use to own did.
Love the clownfish, they're so cute! But isn't the filter flow a bit too strong? Seem like they really struggle to keep up and swim against the current, but maybe it just the way they usually swim? 😂 Never kept them so I wouldn't know much.. Looking forward to the next part, I deeply relate with the boys' excitement for this tank 👍
They swam the same as this in the shop as well. There are like happy dogs wagging their tail haha. If you think of more reef tanks with huge powerheads in them, i think this is actually less than what most have.
I use purigen too! I think u seem to have a little too strong flow as I can see the clowns are swimming bit hard against it. Other than that i love the videos keep them coming!
That is a great looking tank with happy inhabitants. That is a great looking LFS the ones in Leicester are small and cramped unless there is the one I have missed.
Possibly although I didn’t think it was too bad considering what I have seen them go for elsewhere. Either way it’s a really nice fish. Some small wrasse would look really good in that tank 👍🏻
Wow lovely video and tank, now a pair of common cleaner shrimps (saw them in the video) and later some corals and anemones and it will be a living room Gem.
You're pros, but out of Curiosity I want to know. It seemed to be flow of the water is a bit more (as plants are constantly wiggling), will this cause stress to Meno and his GF. YOUR TANK IS BEAUTIFUL and you're little kids were really njoying by imitating fishes. ☺ And I don't know anything about Aqua world.
Nice choices made there. And it’s lovely seeing your two lads recasting like that to your tanks. I have a 12,10,9 and 7 year old and they all spend hours each week staring into my little collection of tanks. Shoot me your email if you can, I’d love to show and hear any tips you might have
Just a word of advice, grape caulerpa can go asexual and release all the nutrients back into the water. Usually used in refugiums with a light on 24/7 to prevent them from going asexual.
Have you considered pairing them with anenomes? Im not an exoert but i heard ckownfish really like having that symbiotic relationship, though they dont always pair
Are those hermits coral safe? Do you plan on getting any corals? Also I think you should get a anemone next for the clowns to house and not to be to standard but you can never go wrong with some yellow and blue tangs and a cleaner shrimp.
Halloween hermits are reef safe 100%. Please do not get Tangs for this tank. It is way too small. You need at least a 4 ft tank for 1 yellow or hippo tang.
Why are you putting caulerpa in your display? 😱 I had this as a hitchhiker with the live rock in my previous tank and I had to break down the tank because it overgrew my tank after having a nutrient issue. It is impossible to remove from the tank and it took 2/3 days to take over the entire tank.
I will have to keep an eye on it then. I got it from my lfs which has been in their tanks for a long time and not taken over. Been in mine a few weeks now and not gone crazy. Less growth than my stem plants in other tanks to be honest.
Oh wow, totally different experience then I’ve had. Just wondering, are you putting it in as a nutrient export method (in tank Refugium) or purely aesthetics? Love your style of videos by the way. Happy reefing!
I mis corrals for the fish. Nice tank but by far not finished. Anomon fish need anamons if i look at this tank and my neighbors tank i see a big diffrents. I hope you add corals anomooms and other living plants. To creat a real peace of a real reef.
Kathy L the most dominant clown in the tank will be Female and the rest will be male Captive mean they are breed in a tank and lived in aquariums their whole lives. Wild caught means caught from the wild
@@MDFishTanks Look up caulerpa racemosa. It's almost impossible to pick it completely off the rocks because it breaks easily and it can cover everything. For me it's one of the worst pests you can have in a tank. Please check if yours is this species and if it is, I would remove it. There are some species that have larger "grapes" and stronger stems that are easier to control.
Here in my place you can't just go ahead and make your own reef tank. You need some paperworks from the government first. And if that ain't enough to discourage you there's no local fish store that sells anything saltwater related. Ordering isn't smart either for it could get intercepted.
@@MDFishTanks I'm from a small city in the Philippines. Having a reef tank consists a lot of work, literally. It's all about the Aquamarine Life Preservation that makes them strict about it. Freshwater is fine and I have a couple of tanks already. Right now I'm ready to dive into the saltwater experience but man, I just can't.
You're allowed to keep fish and anemones. It's illegal to keep corals. If you live in a remote area, you can have your goods (even fish) shipped from shops in Manila. Your fish and equipment won't be intercepted.
Ak47 52 From what I’ve been told the water has to be a lot warmer for that to happen . But if you have corals the water can’t be to warm or something like that 🤷🏻♀️
DON'T get the Hawkfish, I have one. They will kill any shrimp you put in the tank smaller than them, pick at your snails and are very aggressive to newly added fish if not added last. If not for my lid my Falco hawkfish would have killed my Wrasse by chasing him out the tank.
Just do regular water changes and it would be fine. I ve kept marines for over 25 years without a sump, a skimmer and expensive lighting. I posted a video about 8 years ago on here. Boring video compare to others nowadays 😁 lol. My bad..... Just saw this vid was a year ago 🤣
Really? I dont believe you know what To do. It Looks like you dont have any idea about saltwater Tanks. Fish before corals and no suitable Anemone for the Clown fishes... Not everyone should be allowed to have pets 96 Liter for Clown Fisches? OMG Poor fishes
I hope this comment is a joke. They don’t need anemones. These are both captive raised clownfish and have seen nothing but a glass tank until this point.
Aha, one more specialist. Very ignorant. Have you ever seen clown fishes in nature. In more than 30 years of diving i have never seen a clown fish without. Thats, like with every animal, in their genes. Humans like you deceided for them not have what they need. Thats one of the reasons why earth is like it is.
You make reef tanks look easy. Beautiful setup. Not only will the larger clownfish be the dominant one, but it will also be female. Clownfish are all born male. The largest, more dominant of the group changes sex and becomes female. This is called sequential hermaphroditism amongst teleost fishes. They should be just fine together.
