Some tips from a professional baker: -Wet volume and dry volume are different - I'd recommend getting dry measuring cups for your dry ingredients. Ideally, get a scale and weigh ingredients and then you don't have extra cups to wash so it's a plus for us lazy people. -You don't need a hand mixer necessarily but you should use a whisk to cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. What you are doing is using the sharp edges of the sugar crystals to carve air pockets into the butter. -You can make dough ahead and freeze the raw cookies, and then bake one or two at a time whenever you want :)

in baking you can't substitute whipped butter for stick butter. 1/2 cup is 1 stick of butter. You can get a mixer for about 20.00 and it will make a big difference. The sugar and butter will cream together nicely in the beginning. Also in baking sifting your flour , then measuring it will avoid things being too dry. It takes longer in the process but it's worth it.

Yes you need some kind of mixer for making cookies. Also always use stick butter for baking

I’m glad that you have discovered the wonderful art of baking. I use to love to bake when I was young. I seldom bake anymore because my family no longer live with me & it would be too tempting to eat it all myself, and I know that it’s not that healthy to eat a lot of sweets. A spoon will have worked fine, no need to use your hands. Don't eat raw dough that has raw egg in it.

Have fun with it!!! Don't be hard on yourself because of critics. All chefs and home cooks started and learned. You're doing great! I learned to cook and bake watching the food network to fall asleep as a kid 😄. 99% of chefs agree, hands are the best tools in the kitchen. You can literally feel what you're doing, it's very hard to over or under mix because you feel what's going on. Kinda therapeutic I think, and it's a great time to add the magic ingredient while handling food, LOVE!!! 💓💓💓 giving thanks to God with your favorite bible verse and meditating on blessings and the promises of God. Really awesome level of cooking many people overlook. Love is a real thing! Add as much as possible and share with someone having a hard time who isn't expecting God to send them love 💓🤗🕊 .great job sister, joyous Christmas in Christ Jesus the Lord to you, and to all!

My favorite cookies my mom used to make were her chocolate chip cookies with nuts and the best bite was without the chocolate chips so she started leaving some out just for me. I miss those so much! Whatever I make never tastes like hers. Merry Christmas!

It’s really not safe to eat raw dough, there could be harmful bacteria in not only the eggs but also the flour.
