Finally I made it to Malaysia! In this first video of my Malaysia Vlog series I went to Kampung Baru to explore the village side of Kuala Lumpur. Kampung Baru is known for the authentic Malay food so obviously I had to try some delicious food. When the sweet lady of KB Tomyam & Seafood goo.gl/maps/de... invited me for some Roti Canai, I couldn't say no.
After that delicious breakfast I continued my Kuala Lumpur tour direction Salomas Bridge goo.gl/maps/XH... where I met up with ‪@BestFoodieForever‬ , he showed me the bridge first and then the world famous Petronas Towers goo.gl/maps/cF... where we took some pictures. After having a quick coffee at the Suria Mall goo.gl/maps/JE... we went to the KLCC Park goo.gl/maps/ZY...
Overal a great first impressions from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia!

With my RU-vid videos I aim to show a different perspective than what most travel vloggers would do by interacting with people and really getting the local insights of the places I visit. No matter their social background I treat everyone equal. Sometimes this results in awkard conversations but I love it!
**Support my channel and the people I meet**
All donations will go back to the communities during my travels, this can be through staying or eating at small businesses or even donating this money right back through one of my donations projects.

Many Malaysian love your videos, especially you get free nasi lemak and you reward that lady is so heart touching. Keep up with your good videos. By the way, I reported this to tourism Malaysia for where a bunch of gangs in KLCC asking you to stop video.

Always stir your drinks when in Malaysia, because at least 70% of the time the sugar or condensed milk are not being mixed yet. And generally, Malays likes their drink extra sweet, whenever you order in a Malay restaurant/cafe, ask for your drink “kurang manis”, pronounce it koo-hrang mah-nees
@meteorasb
@meteorasb Год назад
If you noticed, your hot milk tea comes with a glob of condensed milk. They purposely didn't mix it in advanced. Its for you to adjust the sweetness to your liking. Some shops give you half a cup of condensed milk. We always joked that teas like that are gonna get your feet chopped off (bc of diabetes) 😅

selamat bercuti di Malaysia, excellent explanation by Malik , kudos 👍👍👍👍 pls bear in mind that most of the people u meet on the streets are actually not locals, most of them are foreigners especially foreign workers, including a cameraman guy u met at klcc towers, u need to ask them where are they from or just ask are u local or s'thing everytime u meet ppl, this is meant specifically for KL/Selangor scenario.

@urutantanjungrimaudalam1577
1:41 - There is a Malaysian national flag hanging on the side of the road because Malaysia is celebrating its 66th anniversary of independence on 31 August 2023 under the original name of the "Persekutuan Tanah Melayu" ( Federation of Malaya ). Malaysia will also celebrate "Malaysia Day" (the formation of the country of Malaysia which then consisted of the Malay Peninsula, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak) on 16 September 2023.

This parcel of land called Kampung Baru (or New Village) is wholly inhabited and owned by Malays from the early 1900s. It is now an enclave effectively surrounded by high rises of KL. Tea = teh Coffee = kopi Hot chocolate = milo (well, mostly) If you want cold drink, just add the word ice. Pronounced similarly in Malay (ais). Teh ais Kopi ais Milo ais Nescafe ais If you don't want milk, just sugar then you say Teh o, or teh o ais. Kopi o, or kopi o ais. If you cannot take sweet drink , request for "kurang manis". Kurang = less Manis = sweet Take note that because of the hot weather, ice melts quickly. Often the drinks will be prepared extra sweet. About the car number plate, we follow what British system was back in the 50s and 60s. Same reason why we drive on the left way (steering on.the righr)

@@Arwalyb3 hi. I believe Malay language is easy to learn and understand, and not very tricky. Malay is spoken in half of south east asian countries. Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia may speak similar Malay but Indonesia a little bit different though most of the times we could understand each other easily. Malay language is pretty much straight forward in terms of the words and pronounciation. For example when you say police in english, in malay we say/spell polis. Indonesian pronounce the same word as polisi. In Malay, J is J. As in Jaguar. Not Haguar in some other languages/countries. And G is like how you pronounce sugar. Except when it is at the end of a word. And U is not pronounce like Umbrella, but like Union. And in Malay the word eat is makan. But eat, ate, eating, eaten is also in Malay as makan. Straight forward. And Malay language is almost 1-to-1 with English, but in most cases wih different word arrangment. For example - Jalan Alor is actually Alor street. Bukit Bintang is Star Hill. Many foreign workers coming here to work have no difficulty to speak in Malay language. Not good, but as long as we could understand them. Yes, Indonesians skin colour are closely same with the malays, the Indians and Sri Lankans look similar with Malaysian Indians. And Vietnamese looks like the Malaysian chinese. An easy way of learning Malay perhaps is to learn the common words you use while in Malaysia. For example - how much? Means 'Berapa harganya' but it has been simplified as 'berapa ringgit?' I need to order some drinks - saya nak minta air (again, its common for people to say saya nak order air). Unless you plan to stay here long, it maybe fun to learn Malay and blend in. But as you are aware most Malaysians could speak and understand basic/simple english so learning Malay language is not crucial here. You may come across though people in rural areas not speaking English. This is completel normal. And if you find Indians or Malays not able to speak English in the city, they are most probably foreign workers. Bear in mind most Chinese and Indians in Malaysia are highly competent in at least 3 languages. Some could master 4. (Malay, English, Chinese Mandarin, Tamil)

In case no one commented on the "Kg." on the entrance to Kampung Baru mosque, Kg is a abbreviation of Kampung. Kampung means village in Malay. You will find many abbreviations on the signages in M'sia. Among them: "Sg." = Sungai = River. E.g. Sg. Siput. "Spg" = Simpang = Junction/Intersection. "Tg." = Tanjung = Cape. E.g. Tg. Sepat.

some people, not sure locals or foreigners,, they run a service business to take photos for rm10,, not sure if that is allowed by the authorities or not.. but that is very unpleasant when you are a tourist or a tourist from outside or inside the country is kicked out when they finish taking pictures.. I think this should be monitored by the authorities,, as far as I know, the following places are free for people to take pictures and see the situation around them.. and no party is allowed to control and take profit personal in the following place.. the authorities must monitor the place.. and what I don't like the most is, they evict people after taking pictures.. should be monitored and action taken..

Hello Mr Tim... roti canai is originated from India which is called as parotha the recipe has been adapted here according to Malaysian taste buds. The thick substance in your tea is condensed milk not butter. You can only find masala tea or chai in Indian or punjabi restaurants and some mamak restaurants here. All the other restaurants sell only teh tarik which is made without masala. You could ask for tea with evoporated milk if you don't like it to be sweet. Just simply say "teh tarik dengan susu cair". If you're still in Malaysia have a wonderful stay and be safe always. ❤😊

If it has diferrent name and different recipee which resulted in different taste, that means it's authentic Malay food.
