Oooh, you're finally in Sweden! Welcome and I So hope you'll have a wonderful time in our capital 😊 If you get back to Gamla Stan a little later it will be a lot of people, it's a very popular tourist attraction with many different nationalities :) Coming back in a month I hope during my vacation off work 😊
The ship you saw with the masts is from Columbia and according to my buddy who visited it today it's ok to get on it and look around. Nice that you're getting in shape, but you'll have to take some public transport sooner or later to save your legs. Some boats are also included in the regular ticket price.
Welcome! So cool seeing you walk around in our familiar areas! I hope you have a great stay in Sweden! I recommend visiting the outdoor museum Skansen in Djurgården. You can take the ferry there from Gamla Stan/Slussen. There you find historical buildings and views from all of Sweden. Closeby you also find the Wasa museum, the Abba museum, and the entertainment park Gröna Lund.
3:35 That statue is Nils Ericsson, the engineer that built the Swedish railways. His brother John is propably more known since he built metal warships for the Union during the american civil war and invented the modern ships screw propeller. His first ship, Monitor, fought CSS Virginia at Hampton roads.
Stockholm is beautiful. I don’t know your time or budget but I hope you’ll be able to visit some small town in south of Sweden also. Öland has great nature as well.
Welcome to Sweden! Unfortunately, you missed the nice weather we've had this past month. But there is still much to discover. Hope you will like our beautiful capital.
@@eaakerman8829 that is only for tourists and the meatballs are really bad, no swedish person would ever eat there. Pelikan, Kvarnen, Sturehof or some of the other older classic restaurants do it much better!
It's great that we got to accompany you on your walk and to listen to your first impressions of Stockholm. The building at the beginning of the video (about 7 minutes in) that you said you didn't recognize. Is the Knight's House. where they keep all noble shields.
I have been looking forward for you to finally come to Sweden. Bicyclists are ruthless in Sweden😅 they just do not care. 9:14 there is a Viking runestone on the right behind the cannon.
Welcome!!! ❤ I hope you are not discouraged by the weather. It is usually much better! May was super hot and sunny so I guess we were in for a streak of crappy weather. I just hope you get to enjoy some nice weather, too, before you leave.
Cool that you're here! A tip would be to maybe visit some smaller towns outside of Stockholm, as they often have more nature if you'd like to experience that. If you have time, I think you'd like Öland or Gotland as well!
Congrats for visiting Sweden. I hope you liked it. At 9:18 you pass by a runestone used as a foundation stone in the building. You need to take a class on fundamentals of video editing. The moving back and forth makes me seasick.
Welcome so much to Sweden, Stockholm my hometown. For the last 10 years I been living and working in Shanghai. I was watching one of your videos yesterday and was wondering when you actually gonna go and visit Sweden and here you are hahha... June can be little mixed weather, July is the best month. Dont miss out on Midsummer next weekend and enjoy your trip.
at 9:49 timestamp.. if you look up a bit on the yellow building - you see a cannonball em bedded at the corner of the building from old history in Sweden. My grandma told me that it was war in Sweden and this cannonball got there from that time. I was always so fascinated about it. Here`s some fun facts: The cannonball at Stortorget in Old Town, Stockholm, is a historical artifact with several stories attached to it. The cannonball is embedded in the wall of the house on the corner of Stortorget and Källargränd and has become one of the small, but interesting, details in Stockholm's old town. Historical Stories Stockholm massacre (1520): One of the most popular stories is that the cannonball was fired during the Stockholm massacre in November 1520, when the Danish king Christian II captured the city and executed a large number of Swedish nobles and burghers. According to this story, the cannon ball was fired from the castle at the opponents, but there is no concrete evidence for this. Political Unrest (17th-19th century): Another theory is that the cannonball originates from one of the many political unrest and conflicts that took place in Stockholm during the 17th or 19th century. Stockholm has been a place of several conflicts throughout the ages, and it is possible that the cannonball is a memory from one of these battles. Decorative Placement: There is also a more mundane explanation that the cannonball may have been placed there afterwards, as a decoration or to create an interesting historical detail for visitors and tourists. Documentation and Evidence There are no definitive historical documents detailing exactly how the cannonball ended up in its place, leaving the story mostly based on speculation and local legend. Despite the lack of concrete evidence, the cannonball has become an iconic part of Old Town history and attracts many curious tourists. Regardless of its origin, the cannon ball at Stortorget is a fascinating part of Stockholm's rich and complex history, which contributes to the city's charm and mystery. Maybe you could go a guided tour and get to know more about stockholms history.. I love Stockholm my birthtown.
Bicycles are more scary than cars..they are so quiet ..must be mindboggeling that some of the houses that ppl still live in stockholm is older than the Us constitution..
Cool, when was this? I visited Stockholm 4 days last week. Haha I was gonna say watch out for the bikes, I saw way too many mostly americans just walk out on the bikelanes without looking, then you mentioned it.
Haha yes beware of the bikes. Im from an island and I always have to keep that in mind when Im in town. That goes for all the bigger cities. My great great something something grandpa got killed by being run over by a horse wagon the first time he was in Gothenburg.
You got here, nice to see you out of your "office". Know you been wanting to go for quite a while now. Speaking of walking, i've recently heard that some Americans work out/exercise , in order to go on vacation here in Europe 🤣🤣🤣 that's hilarious. Enjoy your time here 😊❤
The purpose of putting those big flower bowls in the roads is to slow down traffic and have drivers choose other routes to keep the streets fairly clean. They are also mainly considered to be walked upon even though cars can access them.
Hope you have a great time in Sweden! You can ask your viewers come see you at some central spot in Sthlm. And yes, go with the boats, it is relaxing and fun.Try out some good restaurants, and ask people for places to go, what to see!
Glad to see you finaly madeit. Enjoy your trip! You should eat at max. And also try the meatballs at either pelikan or tennstopet. Then get some fika att lillebror. Also the boat tour is popular (if the weather is nice) .
5:40 You’re passing Rosenbad and Riksdagen behind you. Our parliament. 6:43 That is Riddarhuset. All noble families have their sheilds on display in there. Some are really really old. 7:21 That is the Supreme court 8:10 Storkyrkan. That is where the royals get married and buried 9:43 Stortorget and the scene of Sthlm bloodbath 10:32 The german Church 11:43 Texas longhorn is a chain, they serve bbq-style food 12:49 A public well 14:24 View of Södermalm 15:20 Correct, that is the royal palace. Behind you across the water you have Nationalmuseum and Grand hotel 16:13 The opera is being renovated
Well you passed by me on the train from Denmark. I live in the wonderful city of Malmö just after the bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden. But I see why you chose Stockholm it´s another beautiful city in Sweden
Welcome to Sweden. Stockholm is a ghost town during the upcoming midsummer festivities on friday. Everybody heads out on the countryside. Have a good trip.
This week is leading up to Swedens Midsummer Selebration weekend, and anyone who has the opportunity goes out in the countryside. And the tourists are still in bed. But the evenings in summer Stockholm are amazing!
Oooh so fun to see you here in Sweden!! Sorry gor you to get the most cold june ever in a long time!! I hope some of us subscribers that live close get together to make your stay good!! If not I just got on my vacation and come down to Ronneby Blekinge and we can have some fun together!! You can stay at my place no worries!!😊❤❤
Welcome to Sweden! Stockholm is a beautiful city, at least in summer. Hope you come back here later on in winter and go north, you have to see the northern light over the mountain range and maybe stay a night at the ice hotel!
Fun to see you almost walked in our footsteps. Me and my wife went to Sthlm a few weeks ago spending the day there and we took pretty much the same stroll as you did. Hope you enjoyed your stay!
The first house you saw and didn't recognize when you came to Gamla Stan was ”Riddarhuset ”- the Knights’ House or House of the Nobility and is one of Stockholm’s most beautiful buildings. The seventeenth-century Baroque house was the main meeting place for the nobility . Riddarhuset is a palace and an organization for the nobles in Sweden. Its objective is to preserve and maintain a historical heritage.
The Church at 8:15 is Storkyrkan, Stockholm Cathedral. it opened in 1306. At 10:34 you are at the German Church, built for the German Merchants and their families in the mid 1500's. 95% of the buildings you walked by in Old Town were built between 1190 and 1325. And yes at 15:20 You are at the Palace of Stockholm, it is one of the newest buildings on the Old Town Isle as the Original Castle burned in 1697. The current one you saw there was built between 1698 and 1754 with a break for war between 1701 and 1721.
It’s funny, I live in the city of Stockholm and sometimes you just forget how beautiful this town is 👌👌. Absolutely the best time, taking a walk early in the morning before the city wakes up ✌️✌️. Enjoy your stay and hope you had the chance taking some of those boats for a trip around in our archipelago with those 20.000 islands just outside ✌️✌️😜!!
Hard risk clicking on these videos, you just know 90% of them will be pandering fore local views Edit: You seam to have a genuine interest in Scandi/Europe Australia, and some stuff.
